4 Most Likely Winners of the 2016 Royal Rumble Match

This Sunday, at the Royal Rumble, the WWE World Heavyweight Championship is up for grabs and 29 men are going for it. All have claimed that they could win it – everyone from the Social Outcasts, through Y2J, and up to Brock Lesnar. The question is who really has the potential to take the gold home at the first PPV of 2016.

Bray Wyatt

The Eater of Worlds is a very logical choice. Unlike the League of Nations, the Wyatt Family is a close-knit unit. Rowan, Harper and Strowman are willing to blindly follow Bray Wyatt. They would never betray their leader for personal gain. This makes Bray dangerous. He’ll be the only man in the Royal Rumble match, who truly isn’t alone in the fight.

Also, the Rumble match is entirely Roman Reigns-focused. Roman Reigns is the man Bray Wyatt spent the good part of 2015 hunting.  “Anyone but you, Roman. Anyone, but you.” Those are Bray’s words and they can easily come to haunt Reigns again. This time the Eater of Worlds could succeed in depriving Roman from everything he ever dreamt of.

The only thing that worries me is that the Wyatt Family has never seen consistent booking. They’ll look strong one day and will job the other. This is not how you create champions. In addition to that, the Wyatts picked up a fight with Brock Lesnar and against the Beast, there might be no numbers’ advantage.

Brock Lesnar

Speaking about the Beast Incarnate, as long as he’s in a match like that, he’s by default a favourite to win. Brock’s been presented to the WWE Universe as unstoppable. The moment he walks into that ring, the scene will get quite clear very quickly. People will be flying left and right at the hands of the Beast.

However, the Authority might have something against Brock, winning. They want to get rid of Reigns, in order to gain control of the champion, who holds their most precious prize. They need someone good in the ring but also servile backstage. This is most definitely not Brock. Lesnar might even be a worse option for the Authority than Reigns is. If they’re struggling with the still mortal Roman, imagine if they had to take Brock out. It would be a nightmare, so the bosses must have planned something to tame the Beast.

Maybe, Lesnar will fall victim to the Wyatt Family. I’d be surprised if we didn’t get a Braun Strowman vs. Brock Lesnar moment on Sunday. Whatever happens, taking out the Beast will be a challenge.

Roman Reigns

What is the point of creating the ultimate underdog if he’s not going to prevail against all odds in the end? It’s very likely that Roman retains this weekend. It would solidify him as the top guy the WWE wants to have. After beating odds like these, Reigns will be on Cena’s godlike level of invincibility.

Even if Roman fails to retain, he’s bound to break a record or two at the Rumble. He could outdo his own record of most eliminations in a match. And he could also break Rey Mysterio’s record for longest amount of time spent in a Royal Rumble match. Knowing Roman’s the champ, he’ll most definitely go to the very end. Entering at number 1 almost guarantees that he’ll surpass Rey’s record.

If Roman Reigns gets eliminated, he’ll be in the last 2, max 3. Whatever happens, it will be Reigns’night. He’ll walk out of the Royal Rumble as a hero and in case of a loss – a martyr, as well.

Triple H

Nonetheless, the most likely man to win the Royal Rumble is the boss himself –Triple H. There are two factors that make him the most plausible choice.

The first one is that from a business perspective the Authority always wins. A victory for them would be to have one of their own as the WWE World Heavyweight champion. However, Sheamus and the League of Nations are far from being reliable. They are glorified jobbers at the minute.  Seth is out of the game. Roman refuses to be bribed and Brock is a separate entity, he would never obey Stephanie.  They need someone they could trust and sometimes doing things yourself is the best course of action. Therefore, Triple H will most likely insert himself at number 30 and will easily take out a desperate, exhausted and broken-down Reigns.

Second, Triple H has very good personal reasons to want to see Roman suffer. After all, last time we saw the Game he was being taken to the hospital after an embarrassing beat-down at the hands of Roman Reigns. Triple H’s pride was hurt. He will seek retribution. He will seek domination and he will make sure Roman suffers at every step if the way. And it would set up the rumored WM Triple H vs. Roman Reigns match, we’ve all been hearing about.

Although Triple H is a very logical answer, the WWE Creative will believe that we wouldn’t see it coming, so they’ll take it as a swerve, which would make them even more likely to book it.
