5 Things That Should Happen at Payback

This Sunday at Payback, Shane O’Mac puts his stamp on his first (and possibly last) PPV as a RAW GM. Let’s see what 5 things the WWE should book at the event!

Dean Ambrose Gets A Victory

It’s all fun and games at the Ambrose Asylum. The Lunatic Fringe, turned talk show host, even introduced us to the all-important Mitch – the potted plant. The fans laugh and the guests actually talk to one another. Jokes fly in the air. That’s so idyllic it makes me cringe!

It was only last month that Dean Ambrose was being advertised to us as the face of hardcore in the WWE. He was meant to be a brutal, sick and twisted individual, who enjoys pain, regardless of whether he’s inflicting it, or experiencing it.

Now Dean’s feuding with Jericho over who gets to host a talk show. The WWE really doesn’t know where to go with Ambrose. All they know is that the WWE Universe likes the guy, regardless of his booking.

However, the Lunatic Fringe is in danger of losing all credibility if this consistently bad booking persists. He’s in desperate need of a victory at Payback. Ambrose needs momentum. He needs to look dangerous again. For once, he should win the feud he’s in.

NXT Tag Team Quality Match

The most popular speculation is that the final of the #1 Contender’s Tag Team Tournament isn’t going to have a clean finish. The expected outcome is for the Dudleyz to come in and cost Enzo and Cass the match.

That’s not such a horrible idea. First, the New Day are face and booking them to fight the Vaudevillains makes more sense. Second, the Vaudeviallins would benefit from an unexpected victory because it would turn the fans against them, thus making them a legitimate heel team on the main roster.

However, the tag team match needs to keep the quality of wrestling we’re used to seeing on NXT. What should not happen at Payback is to have a 10 minutes match between Enzo and Cass and the Vaudevillains, only to have a quick distraction from the Dudleyz and end it all.

The final two teams must be given time to deliver. It won’t only improve the overall quality of the PPV and the enjoyment of the fans, but it will also help the Vaudevillains. The WWE must make it so that even the non-NXT fans have the opportunity to see Gotch and English’s capabilities in the ring.

Enzo and Cass are already over.  The Vaudevillains need the exposure that a long, high-quality match can give them. After all, we don’t want them to end up like the Ascension.

Natty Becomes Women’s Champion

The IWC seems to lack faith in this scenario. The general opinion seems to lean towards seeing Charlotte retain. However, I think this should not happen.

Natalya deserves the championship without a doubt. The fans might want to see Sasha defeat Charlotte for the belt at SummerSlam but the WWE owes Natty the recognition of making her the Women’s Champion at Payback.

Also, the title match will be heavily influenced by Ric Flair and Bret Hart. I think it’s a horrible idea. The legends’ feud outside the ring threatens to steal the thunder from the one match the female talent have on the card and this goes against the spirit of change and equality.

Yet, it’s obvious that the Nature Boy and Bret The Hitman Hart will be involved in the outcome of the match. I think that considering the situation, Bret deserves to see his niece stand victorious.  The WWE owes him that.

Vince Betrays Stephanie

Vince is supposed to name the permanent GM of RAW at Payback. Stephanie, being the favourite daughter, obviously comes straight in with the confidence that she will be the chosen one, as always. Shane seems to have zero expectations. Yet, things should not go the way Stephanie wants them to.

It won’t be hard to explain why Vince would pick Shane after all. Vince is all about the money. He’d do what’s best for business. I can see him, standing in the ring at Payback, explaining to Stephanie that the ratings show that Shane’s more popular, making him best for business, therefore he must stay.

This could open grounds for a war between Stehpanie and Shane. Stephanie could be given SmackDown and it could cause a competition between the shows. It could even lead to a brand split. Then again, even if nothing as drastic as a brand split happens, just the sheer pleasure of seeing Stephanie, being betrayed by Vince, would suffice.

The Bullet Club Turns Out to be the Balor Club

The outcome of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match is predictable. The moment Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson turn on AJ Styles and cost him the title seems inevitable. Every time someone says: “This friendship will last forever”, it rings alarm bells, screaming: “Betrayal Incoming!”

We could either complain about Roman Reigns, winning once again, staying face and being the champion, or we could get excited about the Bullet Club. It’s no coincidence that Finn Balor dropped his NXT Championship to Samoa Joe, or that he was acting more and more like a heel in his latest matches. The Demon is coming at Payback…or at least, he should be.

The Bullet Club, turning out to be the Balor Club, would be epic. AJ Styles is already a fan darling. Imagine what it would do to his popularity if he got betrayed by his best friends! Also, Finn Balor as a heel is simply incredible. Styles and Balor are two huge characters and the clash between them will create one of the most exciting feuds of 2016. All we need is the Balor Club at Payback!
