AJ Styles Debuts For NJPW At Invasion Attack, Attacks Champion And Joins Bullet Club

AJ Styles NJPW

- At last nights New Japan Pro-Wrestling iPPV Invasion Attack, which is available on-demand at UStream.com on NJPW’s channel, former TNA and current ROH star “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles debuted after a tag match involving IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada, attacking him and hitting the Styles Clash. Styles took the Heavyweight title and said soon it would be his before unzipping his jacket and revealing a Bullet Club t-shirt, effectively becoming its new focal member.

The following is a picture of Bullet Club with AJ Styles as a member.

the picture is hilarious… good to see AJ loosening up. Bullet Club have been goofing on every wrestling gimmick under the sun, mostly wolfpack/nwo; Styles, who is usually kind of a stiff on the mic but works the heel persona to delightfully awkward results, was hilarious in a clip I saw from last spring, wish i could find it — kept it brief then said, “somebody ‘too sweet’ me!”(Karl Anderson steps in to do the wolfpac hi-five with him, pretty funny stuff.) Jackson Brothers are hysterical as well, running around the ring doing HBK Superkicks… the stable shouts-out Nash all the time so it’s not an outright copy it’s more tribute but they are so over the top with it. i’ve even heard them goof on the Rock.

New Japan seems in no hurry to kill off the Bullet Club gimmick; the shows are announced in Japanese but the stable’s promos are in English. Other than Tanahashi and Okada, the gaijins in NJPW are carrying the promotion.
