Backstage News On Lucha Underground Terminating MVP’s Contract, Talk Of A Personal Betrayal

As PWMania.com reported, MVP recently announced that his Lucha Underground contract was terminated by their parent company for violating terms of the deal, not long after it was signed. MVP was set to work for the promotion as an agent and performer but violated non-disclosure related terms of his contract by having some Lucha Underground talents on his MLW Radio podcast.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that officials were upset with the podcast because apparently there was some talk of what was going on in the promotion and they felt like spoilers were given out. When MVP found out officials were not happy, he took the podcast down but that wasn’t enough. The parent company lawyers were upset, the company said he violated his deal by talking about spoilers and the deal was nixed.

Catrina and Jeff Cobb were among the guests on the podcast but it was never said that Cobb is Matanza Cueto. Regarding Catrina, apparently the age of her character was said, which is something like 138 years old, but that hasn’t been revealed on the TV show yet.

People close to the situation and one that works with Lucha Underground were shocked at the deal being terminated, according to The Observer, with the feeling that it was ridiculously petty and a cover for something else. It was also noted that MVP wouldn’t discuss the situation on a recent podcast but his co-host, former WWE writer Alex Greenfield, said MVP’s termination was a personal betrayal, but did not say who betrayed him.
