Battle Royal To Determine Bray Wyatt’s WrestleMania Opponent Announced

As seen on Tuesday night’s WWE SmackDown, Royal Rumble winner Randy Orton refused to take his title shot against WWE Champion Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania 33, pledging allegiance to Wyatt. Orton said as long as Wyatt is the master and he is the servant, Orton refuses to face him at WrestleMania.

“As long as you are the master and I am the servant, I refuse to face you at WrestleMania,” Orton said. “I pledge my undying allegiance to you, Bray Wyatt!”

SmackDown General Manager Daniel Bryan announced on Talking Smack that next Tuesday’s show from Ontario, California will feature a battle royal with the winner going on to face Wyatt for the title at WrestleMania.

Great, so the Royal Rumble was a waste of time

Not the first time this kind of thing has happened though. Cena won the Rumble in ’08 and had his title match at No Way Out instead of WM. In ’96 HBK put his WM title shot up for grabs in a match against Owen Hart at In Your House. In ’99 Austin put his shot on the line against Vince, and there have been other similar instances since then, even as recently as 2015 when Roman put his WM opportunity on the line against DB at Fastlane.

That’s interesting. But this one’s still different, those times u mentioned were the title shot’s timing getting moved or the wrestler putting the opportunity up for grabs. This time the winner just said, no thanks

It’s not a waste of time. They are telling a story. Even if it looks unfruitful, there will be a payoff down the road. Don’t worry.

Cena still fought for the title at Mania

The rumble was not a waste if time this year as smackdown got the win. Putting who it was aside, the smackdown brand got the win and it was well deserved.

I didn’t realize the point of the Royal Rumble was raw vs smackdown

Orton will turn on Bray and still end up with his title shot, I say Orton has been working them all along.

Harper will win the Battle Royal and then we will get a triple threat match for the title instead.
Personally, I’d like to see a development in the story that sees Bray send Orton to challenge for the Universal title, with the story that the Wyatt Family want to be top of the tree on both shows.

I’d say Luke Harper will win the battle royal

  • Sam Savage

Nobody in general wants fu**ing Luke Harper to main event Wrestlemania. Get that through your head.

What a waste of a royal rumble. They could have given the honour to someone to build them up.
Or Orton can challenge the Raw Champ, like back in the old (a few years ago) days
