Bobby Lashley On His Current World Title Run, Desire To Wrestle Kurt Angle, Favorite Career Moments, More

– TNA World Heavyweight Champion Bobby Lashley recently spoke with the Team Venom Wrestling Podcast.

Here are the highlights:

Most meaningful title victory in his career: This current one and you can’t compare, it’s like apples and oranges when you look across the board. Of course winning the United States title was great, ECW title was great but one thing I like about this one, when I was in WWE I knew how to wrestle but I didn’t understand how to wrestle. After I got out of the WWE I spent some time on the independents and I wrestled for a while honing my game a little bit. I came back, it was still a little unsure as far as my abilities, left, did some more independents, came back and I feel like I’m a complete wrestler this time.

I’ve had some great matches from Jeff Hardy, Austin Aries, Eric Young, to the matches I’ve had with Bobby Roode. I think everything has been coming across just amazing. I took a crowd that did not want me to be a title holder and made them believe in me.

Wanting to work with Kurt Angle: I think Kurt’s probably one of the best people in the wrestling business across the board and I’ve never done anything with him so I’m just chomping at the bit for the opportunity to be able to wrestle against Kurt Angle. That whole motto “You got to beat the man to be the man” and in my eyes there’s nobody bigger than Kurt in this business.

His favorite experience in wrestling so far: The Battle of The Billionaires was in Ford Field, the main event at Wrestlemania. That’s huge. My first national championships in college. Being on stage at the world championships in 2002 and winning a silver meal there.

This run of the TNA world title. Not just having the title but being able to prove myself to a crowd. You know how it is. In TNA they do not want the TNA champion to be an ex WWE guy. I took the crowd from not wanting it to happen to being ok with it, to having people say this is my best run in wrestling. The thing I like about the TNA title is that I was able to prove to some of the people that didn’t want me to do well that I can do well.

His future plans: The one goal that I have is I want to hold two titles. It’s a trickier situation now because TNA is not on Spike anymore so the relationship isn’t as good as it was before, so being able to juggle fighting and wrestling might be a little more challenging. I want to make sure both sides are willing to work and if so, I want to have the Bellator title and the TNA title and have them this year.
