Book It: Four-Way Match For The MITB Briefcase At WWE SummerSlam

So far, WWE has done a lackluster job with giving its fanbase anticipation for SummerSlam. Less than two weeks before the second biggest pay per view of the year, which will now be the same length as WrestleMania, only one match was solidified before this week’s episode of Raw. The “Family vs. Family” match was unofficially booked on SmackDown, which has actually been a pretty decent build minus the false alarms from the reports of Sting and possibly Adam (Leo Kruger) Rose being involved.

On Raw, the Intercontinental Title match scheduled for Battleground has now been moved to SummerSlam, the Divas Revolution will be showcased in a three-team tag match, and Stephen Amell can finally live out his dream of being spotlighted on a WWE stage. It makes sense for celebrity involvement at the hottest event of the Summer, but what about the superstars who have yet to officially be booked in a match? Randy Orton, Sheamus, Rusev, Cesaro and Kevin Owens are all without a spot on the card, which should not be so only two weeks before the event.

The best way to salvage this booking train wreck would be to have a four-way match for the Money in the Bank briefcase. Rusev can be at the corner of Summer Rae as she faces Lana if Dolph Ziggler is unable to return. If he is, a mixed tag team match seems inevitable. Now you are left with Orton, Sheamus, Cesaro and Owens.

These four competitors would make for an excellent match at SummerSlam, possibly even stealing the show. As we saw on Raw during the triple threat match, the match would most likely garner “This is Awesome!” chants, and will be filled with close finishes and high spots that would leave the spectators unglued. Not only would this help Sheamus with risking another concussion due to being involved in a one-on-one match, it gives Cesaro vs. Owens a stipulation, since the United States Championship will not be involved as it once appeared to be at the beginning of their rivalry.

There have been other occasions where the Money in the Bank briefcase has been defended: Rob Van Dam vs. Shelton Benjamin at Backlash 2006, Edge vs. Mr Kennedy on the May 7, 2007 episode of Raw, and Dolph Ziggler vs. Cena at TLC 2012. Having it done again would not be unique, but having a four-way match for the case outside of the actual MITB ladder match would be unique. To make it even more intriguing, it does not have to be a ladder match, but the first person who gains a pinfall or submission will be awarded the case.

Book it, WWE. This match would be highly anticipated, and would add a great element to a SummerSlam card that is not very exciting so far as a whole.
