TNA Impact Wrestling Results – August 27, 2014

We start off with a look back at last week’s controversial finish in the #1 contender’s match in Six Sides of Steel, and then we go to the Manhattan Center where Kurt Angle starts off the show! He runs down tonight’s card as EC3 will take on Rhino, and then the Hardyz, the Wolves, and Team 3D will go at it in the first match of the tag title series. He says we don’t have a #1 contender yet, but he’ll work it out with both Eric Young and BobbyRead More

Vince McMahon
Vince McMahon was responsible for how strong John Cena was portrayed on this week’s WWE RAW. Vince wrote and put together all material for Cena this week. Vince reportedly felt that with Brock Lesnar dominating their match at SummerSlam, some of Cena’s fans may lose faith in him unless he made an immediate, strong statement on RAW. On a related note, the video package with Lesnar and Paul Heyman that aired on this week’s RAW was originally scheduled to air on the September 1st episode. - As reported, UFC stars Jon Jones and Ronda Rousey, with The Four Horsewomen, were backstage at WWE SummerSlam in Los Angeles. Apparently there had been some ideas thrown around about doing something with The Four Horsewomen on pay-per-view but the ideas “fell on deaf ears” because the WWE decision makers don’t know much about UFC. There is a feeling within WWE that the company may make some kind of offer to Rousey in the future. – WWE will likely be allowing Prince Devitt to wrestle under his realRead More

WWE Nixes Plans To Bring Back Tough Enough For The WWE Network

We noted back in July that the new season of WWE Tough Enough, scheduled to be filmed at the Performance Center in Orlando, was being pushed back due to budget cuts. There had been talk of shooting the show in the fall but in recent weeks there were no discussions about filming. The budget for Tough Enough was heavily reduced this past week and then the show was scrapped altogether. No word yet if WWE will film the show at a later date but for now it’s not happening. - There haven’t been any complaints coming out of WWE over WrestleMania XXX payoffs. It was expected that with the WWE Network launching, WrestleMania bonuses would be drastically reduced. Steve Austin, The Rock and Hulk Hogan were paid a flat fee for their segment at WrestleMania XXX, instead of the usual deal top stars get based on a percentage. This was done because they weren’t pushed ahead of time and did not work a match. – Former NFL star Shawne Merriman had been training to be a wrestler and anRead More
WWE’s Vice President of Venue Merchandising & Operations Alan Rebhun was let go several months ago, right after WrestleMania XXX. Rebhun was released after he hired a vending company, which went bankrupt twice, to handle the concessions at WrestleMania XXX. The concessions were poorly staffed and disorganized. To top it off, there was a large sum of money missing at the end of the weekend. Rebhun did bring some positives to the company as he was previously responsible for raising the prices of t-shirts at live events from $25 toRead More
There is still no fallout from Rey Mysterio’s taped appearance at AAA’s TripleMania pay-per-view last week. Nobody from WWE has contacted Mysterio about any matter since May but his paychecks are still coming regularly. WWE’s legal department has not contacted AAA either, about Mysterio or Alberto Del Rio. It’s worth noting that WWE did not ask Rey to appear at the August 23rd live event in his hometown of San Diego. (Source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter)Read More

Below are some highlights: What has this year been like for you because there have been so many ups and downs? The original plan for Monday’s WWE RAW was for Big Show and Mark Henry to face Erick Rowan and Luke Harper, which was actually taped for SmackDown.
