Chris Jericho Responds To Triple H’s Promo From WWE Raw In New Interview

Chris Jericho spoke with regarding Triple H’s recent promo on Raw where he referred to himself, Rob Van Dam and Edge as talented stars who were never “the guy” for the company.

“That’s his opinion, and as somebody that was a six-time World Champion and main evented pay-per-views for years, was I ever the guy? Well, no, but who was?” Jericho replied. “I think if you look over the last 15 years in WWE, you’ve got Rock, Austin, Hogan and Cena. I wasn’t the guy… I just know that I had great matches pretty much every night. I had great rapport with the fans. I could make them love me or hate me depending on what I wanted, so I don’t know what more you can say.”

Jericho mentioned that he wasn’t angry with Triple H, but both Triple H and himself were “always the guys who worked with the guy.” He also mentioned that while he believes that Triple H is one of the greatest of all time, he could match him in every area.

Agree with Jericho on that. Beside one thing, Triple H wasn’t ‘always the guy who worked with the guy’. Triple H was the main event when he was world champion with Evolution around him.

    • Joe D’Agostino

Triple H was a “transitional guy” imo. When he was leading evolution WWE was building Brock up as the guy. Then when Brock left they really began to push Batista but even more John Cena to be the guy. Plus Triple H had feuds with names like Goldberg, Shawn Michaels, and a guy who was probably the hottest guy on the roster, an unmasked Kane. So Triple H was never really the “main draw”.

I get what you’re saying – but nevertheless he was the guy for one the brands for over a year, even if what was in transition.

I agree with u. He only thinks he’s great. He’s married to the owners daughter. He’s a big jerk now. He thinks he’s better than anyone else. He’s not. They all brag about being this many times champ but theirs one thing someone decides who wins that belt. Its just a TV show and they are just actors with a person(s) calling the shots.

        • Joe D’Agostino

I never said he wasn’t great. I think Triple H was more than great. His work is almost always incredible. But so was Chris Jericho, and Shawn Michaels, and CM Punk, and Edge, or The Undertaker. But these guys were never THE guy. Its not a knock to never be considered THE guy. Like Jericho said, I think 4 names have been considered the guy for the past 20 years, Hogan, Austin, Rock, Cena. Rock is even debatable because Austin always felt like the bigger draw. Rock was only the guy for the year Austin was gone.
