City Responds To Reports Of Talks With WWE About Hosting WrestleMania

WrestleMania I

As PWMania.com previously reported, The Mercury News revealed that Santa Clara is a finalist to host WrestleMania in 2015 at the San Francisco 49ers’ new stadium, which can hold 75,000 fans. The article stated that Philadelphia is the other competing city, and Santa Clara mayor Jamie Matthews will be flying to WWE headquarters in Connecticut next week to formally make a pitch.

6ABC.com in Philadelphia contacted the Philadelphia Sports Congress regarding the story, and they issued the following response:

“While it is not our policy to discuss ongoing bid efforts, the Sports Congress and our area partners are in constant dialogue with the WWE about hosting their various major events, including WrestleMania and many others. Philadelphia has a long-standing history of partnering with the WWE in hosting countless events, and we look forward to continuing that partnership moving forward for years to come.”
