Concern Over More Possible WWE Releases, News On Attendance At WWE NXT TV Tapings

– reported that there were rumblings within WWE that more cuts might be coming, on the talent and the office side. Regarding more talent releases, there is a fear but it was noted that there’s always paranoia among the roster when WWE starts announcing releases.

– Thursday night’s WWE NXT TV tapings from Full Sail University were sold out again. After the show had started, Full Sail staff members began filling up any empty spot with chairs as more fans were coming in. Our correspondent attends NXT TV tapings and live events across Florida regularly and said this was one of the biggest NXT crowds she’s seen.

NXT is very entertaining, I can’t blame them for packing it in.

  • Jesse Bognanno

now only if the wwe would treat the main roster like the nxt roster

    • Monkey D. Luffy

Unfortunately, the NXT stars have so many things changed about them before they make it to the main roster, from their gimmicks to their moveset, speaking of moveset, the limit almost all your moves and limit it to under 8 or so, probably because of Cena’s insecurity and massage his fat ego.

Just take a look at Cesaro and Bryan

      • Luke

That’s one of the dumbest smark comments I have ever read in my life. Yes, gimmicks are changed. But “move sets” aren’t set in stone anyway. A wrestling match is not planned down to every move, it’s down to the workers to put moves together between the key spots. Suggesting that new talent are having their move sets limited because of Cena is just stupid. He’s still popular. Get over it.

        • Monkey D. Luffy

I’m not sure if you grew up deprived of humor or sarcasm thrown at you, but i was merely joking at at the end regarding Cena.

And of course the moves are restrained by wrestlers in the main roster, if you watch Cesaro vs ami Zayn match there are dozens of moves we have never witnessed Cesaro do,

          • Luke

That was a joke with humour and/or sarcasm? Are you sure? <— That's sarcasm.

Okay, but that's different to your original point. You seemed to suggest that there was some kind of limit put on the wrestlers by WWE management, rather than simply being unable to so those moves because of who they're working with. I'd point you toward Bryan's Wrestlemania match with Triple H. That was a surprisingly good technical match with a wide variety of reversals, holds, etc.

If you're arguing that every wrestler should have a warehouse of moves in his/her arsenal, then WWE probably isn't the company for you. The guy with the most moves rarely sells the most PPVs. Who are the biggest and most successful names in wrestling history? Hulk Hogan, Ultimate Warrior, The Rock, John Cena. None of those guys had/have moves coming out of their ears, but they did the most business due to who they were as people. WWE has always been more about characters than technical ability. Ring of Honor is the place to be if you want to see guys bust out a ton of moves.

          • Monkey D. Luffy

I fail to see why names like HBK, Ric Flair, CM Punk, Bret Hart and a shit tonne of others were not mentioned in your list.

My problem is not necessarily the limiting of moves entirely, but the fact that these limited moves often result in the wrestlers having repeated sequences in their matches.

You mentioned the Rock, he has a an appropriate number of ENTICING moves, Samoan drop, sharpshooter, spine buster, DDT, etc, it’s the variation in which these moves are utilized that interest me not cheap-fashioned sequences you would see guys like Cena in.

I suppose it’s the scripted nature of the matches, but back in the days, most of the matches had unique sequences with a lot of back and forth maneuvering. And you would see a lot of these classic matches in NXT, but once they make it to the main roster, it’s all, “you can only use up to 6 moves unless you’re in the main event” (this is not an exaggeration)

This is why matches in NXT seem like main event caliber, they are more feestyled, i’m not suggesting every single move be used in a match, but the variation in the moves calls for less repeated sequences, and it would be more entertaining to watch for, that is my personal opinion.

So maybe whomever is in charge of RAW and Smackdown should see what NXT is doing and try some of it at the main shows!

  • Monkey D. Luffy

It’ll mostly be office workers, however, the likes of Otunga, Hornswoggle, Darren Young and Santino Marella should be worried.

I predict the Releases/Retirements of the following superstars if they don’t receive any character development in the coming year:

    Damien Sandow
    Dolph Ziggler
    Titus O’Neil
    Zack Ryder
    Jack Swagger
    Alberto Del Rio
    CM Punk
    Great Khali
    Big Show
    Rey Mysterio

    • Dustin

Won’t be Hornswoggle they have to promote Leprechaun

    • Luke

I agree with you on Ryder, Khali, R-Truth and Titus. Undertaker will stay in some kind of backstage role. Big Show is an experienced hand in really good shape, and it would be stupid to let him go. Ziggler is in his prime and WWE won’t release him, they just need to figure or how to use him. Kane will always have a job there of some kind. Christian MIGHT go but only because it’s probably time for him to stop. Se with Mysterio. Sandow WILL be big money at some point. I think all of the sucking around they are doing is probably setting him up for a massive rant at WWE management in a Punk-esque angle. I can’t think of any other reason for his bizarre booking of late. Del Rio is still popular with the Spanish market, so he’s not going anywhere. Swagger is still an amazing worker, especially with Zeb Colter as a heater. I don’t see why they would get rid of him. Punk is done, of his own choice.

I would add Heath Slater to that list but it seems odd that they have released the other members of 3MB and not him. Perhaps there is a plan for him. Or maybe they’re just giving him a bit of time as he’s just had a kid.

      • SemajTheSellout

Dude, I was thinking the same thing about Sandow getting a push after the crap he’s been given. I think they are over doing the HHH cloning.

You had the pompous character, trained by Kowalski with a vicious streak. Started getting a push into the Main Event area, then all of a sudden gets dropped. I feel like him and HHH have had a convo about this. lol

        • Luke

Yep I agree. Sandow is currently in the “eating plates of shit and liking it” phase. The push will come.
