Dean Ambrose Talks Feud With Kevin Owens, Winning The WWE Intercontinental Title, Roman Reigns, More

– After a week off, this week’s sitdown interview with Michael Cole features WWE Intercontinental Champion Dean Ambrose. Video is below and here are highlights:

* Cole asks what being Intercontinental Champion means to Ambrose. He says it means everything to him, it’s his life work and what he’s worked for since he first got in the ring at 16. He talks about studying guys like Randy Savage, Bret Hart and Curt Hennig represent the title be workhorses of the industry or perfect wrestlers that you want to be. Ambrose says WWE would fall apart if it weren’t for him as he goes out every night in every town and busts his ass. He brings up guys who have recently held the title and didn’t want to live up to the expectations and precedents set by Legends. Cole believes he’s talking about Kevin Owens. He says this is a wrestler’s championship and a workhorse championship. It means he’s the guy that’s counted on every night, first match on the card or last match.

* Cole brings up Roman Reigns winning the WWE World Heavyweight Title. Ambrose says it was a great moment for Roman, his family, the fans and them together. He talks about how they both came close to getting their respective titles and how it’s been a long journey. Cole talks about the 2015 Slammy Awards and how the Superstar of the Year award is open to the entire roster this year. He says Reigns and Ambrose seem to be neck & neck with the fans. Ambrose says that’s pretty cool. He says fans could vote for Reigns but he wouldn’t. Ambrose asks how bad that would piss everyone off if he won.

* Ambrose gets a little heated when Cole mentions Owens again, asking what’s next for the two. Ambrose says beating him up and attacking him from behind won’t get inside his head and make him crazy. Ambrose wanted to win the title for himself and because of what it represents but if Owens wants to turn it into an issue that needs to be dealt with, that’s a mistake for Owens. Ambrose says that’s the kind of thing he lives for.
