Death of Wrestling: ADR

Greetings to all… It’s David Davis with my weekly blog: Death of Wrestling. For all of those who read this regularly, you will know that this is not a blog about bashing wrestling; it’s a blog of a frustrated fan, who loves the business and wishes that each week it could be a little better.

This week I want to take a moment to think about the ‘new apex predator of the WWE’ Alberto Del Rio. Now as you know, I very rarely rag on wrestlers (this is no different) for doing something that I have loved, and watched, practically my whole life… I know that the majority of them are passionate, and in this crazy business that we call professional wrestling, a lot of what happens to their character is out of their control…

The WWE has been ramming ADR down our throats for what seems like an eternity, but I’m starting to wonder: to what end..? Personally, I don’t think his promos are amazing, but I do enjoy watching him throw down inside the squared circle… As aforementioned, my problem with ADR is something that I’m sure is beyond his control… and that is his booking.

How can he possibly be the new apex predator of anything if the WWE don’t let him win against upper tier competition??? From what I can remember, ADR has come out on the losing end of just about every major feud he has been in… so why keep pushing him?!?

Every now and then they chuck him a bone and give him a squash match against the Santinos or the Ryders of the WWE, just to keep him relevant, but as soon as he steps in the ring with the Ortons or Cenas – he’ll lose, lose, lose… and yet the WWE still want us to believe he is a Main Eventer???

I think this is actually a bigger problem within the WWE of trying to protect the faces of the company, but do we need Orton or Cena rammed down our gullets anymore than they already are? Does the WWE really think the Universe is that fickle that if ADR came out on top we’d stop buying Cena merch??? Treating the WWE Universe with this kind of contempt, will only lead to the DOW…

Life of Wrestling: For those of you who’ve read this for a while, you’ll know that I love an invasion story and The Shield has the makings of a good one… I’m genuinely looking forward to where this is going, and whether CM Punk will be revealed as the leader after all…

That’s all folks… As always, post your comments, thoughts and opinions below! Or message me on twitter and let me know what you think the ‘Death of Wrestling’ is and I might just blog about it!!! Peace and I’m out…
