Death of Wrestling: Bad PPVs

Greetings to all… It’s David Davis with my weekly blog: Death of Wrestling. For all of those who read this regularly, you will know that this is not a blog about bashing wrestling; it’s a blog of a frustrated fan, who loves the business and wishes that each week it could be a little better.

Last week I spoke about HIAC shaping up to be a pretty poor PPV with the main event certain to leave a bad taste in our mouths, and for once the WWE didn’t disappoint! I don’t need to go in to specifics as a lot of people have already done this; my favourite can be found here.

People around the world work hard for their money, and, in a time of financial uncertainty, it’s a hard ask to expect those people to part with their cash for a professional wrestling PPV. It’s any professional wrestling company’s job to make us want to watch the PPV, which I think the WWE did with HIAC, but it’s also their responsibility to make us want to buy another and I think HIAC seriously dropped the ball with this…

Just like the above aforementioned article said, this PPV was the definition of a filler, and for all those who parted with their hard earned pounds sterling, I feel very sorry for you. Luckily, the PPV aired for ‘free’ here in the UK on Sky Sports and since I also watch a variety of other sports, I won’t be asking for months subscription back… But if the WWE carry on like this, then the fans will stop buying the PPVs and little by little it’ll be the DOW…

Life of Wrestling: I genuinely don’t know what to say this week as HIAC left such a bad taste in my mouth… So I’m just going to use this time to say thanks and farewell to Beth Phoenix. She left it all in the ring every time she was out there, and I hope it’s not too long before she puts her tights back on…

That’s all folks… As always, post your comments, thoughts and opinions below! Or message me on twitter and let me know what you think the ‘Death of Wrestling’ is and I might just blog about it!!! Peace and I’m out…
