Death of Wrestling: Nattie By Nature

Greetings to all… It’s David Davis with my weekly blog: Death of Wrestling. For all of those who read this regularly, you will know that this is not a blog about bashing wrestling; it’s a blog of a frustrated fan, who loves the business and wishes that each week it could be a little better.

Yo, yo, yo, people. So the WWE has been recently talking about its lack of depth in the Diva’s division since all of its underwear models – sorry… Divas… ahem… – have taken their new found fame and headed off to Hollywood… So this is why we’re being subjected to the same Layla/Kaitlyn/Eve triangle right..? Wrong!

As I sat and watched Smackdown, a little cheer trickled down my cheek as I saw what they are now doing with Natalya. I mean, come on… she’s a freaking Hart – born of the Hart Dungeon – a friggin wrestlers dream. She’s beautiful and talented, and the best the WWE can do with her is the Great Khali’s girlfriend… Really? Really? REALLY???

I can still remember the impact the New Hart Foundation had when they entered the WWE. Right there they had true talent that could easily be marketed off of their family (and affiliation to the family) name. Nepotism isn’t good for the sake of it, but when they proved they were also talented… I didn’t see a problem.

Fast forward several years and what have they got for the beautiful and talented Nattie: a flatulence gimmick. REALLY?!? And people kept saying: give it a chance – you have to wait and see where it’s going… Well, I was pretty sure I had an idea and I’m sad that I was proved right…

In a time when the WWE claims it wants to shine a light on the Diva’s division, it’s about time that they actually shine that light on the talent they already have and stop chasing their tales looking for the next big model that they think they can mould… because I’ve said it before… that’ll lead to the DOW. The WWE has a wealth of divas that could run with the ball, if they’d just friggin pass it to them… Otherwise I can see them making a Knockout impression elsewhere…

Life of Wrestling: Hardcore Country vs. Tara for the Knocked Up Championship gets my vote for one reason and one reason only: These two Knockouts are a prime example of what happens to great marketable talent if you don’t nurture it. Why would they want to be Divas when they can be Professional Knockout Wrestlers whose matches mean something on PPV??? Well… I guess there’s a financial one… but money ain’t everything peeps!

That’s all folks… As always, post your comments, thoughts and opinions below! Or message me on twitter and let me know what you think the ‘Death of Wrestling’ is and I might just blog about it!!! Peace and I’m out…
