Dixie Carter Says Hulk Hogan Is More Popular Than The Rock, Compares Both Stars & More

Dixie Carter discussed the importance of Hulk Hogan to TNA during a recent interview with BANG Showbiz. Carter went on to claim that Hogan is the most famous wrestler in the world and his fame rivals Michael Jackson and Elvis Presley.

“He (Hulk) is bigger than any brand, company, name – he is synonymous with wrestling and is probably one of the most recognisable faces or figures on the entire planet. Name me someone who is alive today who’d be more recognisable in any corner of the world? In places like Africa and Asia, or if you were walking in Thailand? Princess Diana or Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley maybe? But they aren’t even with us anymore. The Rock?

“Well, if you are walking in a village in Africa would people know who The Rock was? I think his film work has been outstanding. I’m a huge fan of The Rock, I think he is phenomenal, but would that happen?”

Just a stupid thing to say. Would people know Hulk Hogan in Africa? Where’s the proof of that? I don’t know about Africa, but I can bet way more people approach Rock when he’s out in public than Hogan. You literally cannot turn on a TV without seeing The Rock. Between wrestling, movies, superbowl commercials, and soon the 2 TV shows he’s got coming. Hulk Hogan is very easy to avoid nowadays. All you have to do is not watch TNA (which most wrestling fans do) and not go to celebrity gossip sites that covered his sex tape. And regardless of residual fame from past relevancy, you can’t even begin to say that Hogan is half the draw Rock is now. Are you telling me if Dixie had the choice between Rock and Hogan she’d choose Hulk? Hell, if Dixie Carter had the choice between Hogan and Austin, Hogan and Cena, Hogan and Michaels, Hogan and Taker, Hogan and Orton, Hogan and Triple H, Hogan and Punk, would she choose Hogan in ANY of those scenarios? Of course not. Because he’s irrelevant. Is she actually trying to claim he’s the most recognizable man alive? God, I hope not. How delusional could you get? Michael Jordan, Muhammad Ali, Beyoncé, Jack Nicholson, Eminem, Will Smith, Madonna, Johnny Depp, Ronaldo, Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, George W. Bush, George HW Bush, Jimmy Carter, Oprah, Tom Cruise, Queen Elizabeth II…. And, yes, The Rock would also be ahead of him, but he’s just the tip of the iceberg. Michael Jackson and Elvis are the only people she could compare him too? Really?
