First Name Confirmed For NJPW/ROH Crossover Shows, Raising The Bar Attendances
– Ring of Honor has began revealing the names ahead of their Global Wars and War of the Worlds shows in May, with the first name being IWGP Heavyweight Champion, “Rainmaker” Kazuchika Okada.
Okada has previously wrestled for TNA, most remembered for portraying Samoa Joe’s short lived sidekick in an obvious parody of the then recently released, Green Hornet. Okada would return to NJPW as “The Rainmaker” and is now viewed as one of the top stars in Japanese wrestling, a fan favorite despite being a heel his current run as IWGP Heavyweight Champion has spanned more than 330 days.
Okada’s opponents for both shows will be revealed in the coming weeks.
– Last weekend ROH hosted Raising The Bar Weekend, from Milwaukee on the Friday night and Chicago, Illinois on the Saturday. The attendance for Friday’s Night One show from Turner Hall was around the 700 mark, which is good as the building can only hold 1,000 for concerts so it was nearing a sell-out. And on Night Two from the Frontier Fieldhouse, ROH drew approximately 800, which again for a live event is pretty good.
