As seen at Sunday’s Bound for Glory pay-per-view event at the Melrose Ballroom in New York City, New York, Johnny Impact beat Austin Aries in the main event to win the Impact World Title. After the match, Aries got up as soon as the bell rang, yelled a profanity at Don Callis and left while flipping off the crowd.
Impact Wrestling producer Petey Williams claimed on his podcast that this marked the last match Aries had on his contract and is done with the company. “Austin Aries’ contract is done,” revealed Williams. “That match was his last match under contract with Impact.” It’s always possible that this is purely part of a storyline that was furthered by Williams.
It should also be noted that Bryan Alvarez stated on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Live Aries has gone home and won’t be attending the Impact Wrestling TV tapings on Monday or Tuesday. Alvarez stated that he speculates while aspects of the feud may have been real, Aries and Johnny are likely working together now. He also stated that the press conference brawl that the two engaged in a brawl which was said to have gotten, “a little out of control.”
