Indy Wrestling Spotlight – Kevin Steen vs. John Hennigan, Colt Cabana vs. Kenta & More

john-morrison

Welcome to another addition of Indy Wrestling Spotlight. Lets take a look at some great match-ups from Japan as well a great bout between a WWE daredevil and an indy circuit icon.

* Kevin Steen vs. John Hennigan (John Morrison) – Time: 4/20/2013
Place: 2CW Living on the Edge 8 – Tag 2 @ Fairgrounds Arena in Watertown, New York, USA

The former John Morrison, known for his innovative use of parkour in his work, has made great use of his time away from the WWE, including having a great encounter with former Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Champion, Kevin Steen. Steen, looks completely different than the normal main eventer, but is someone that the uninitiated should not underestimate, because I’ve made that mistake and truly regret it. This is great stuff, from fantastic wrestlers, that deserves to open our list.

* Colt Cabana vs KENTA – Time: 1/19/2013
Place: NOAH The First Navigation 2013 – Tag 3 Matsuyama Wrestle Fest @ Matsuyama City Community Center in Matsuyama City in Ehime, Japan

KENTA is one Pro Wrestling NOAH’s top names and one of its most influencial as well, having influenced many american names, including WWE mega-star CM Punk. To follow the CM Punk path for a bit, his friend Colt Cabana, a master of comedic wrestling (along with any other kind you can think of) is a frequenter of Japan, especially NOAH. So, naturally, these two should share the same ring at the same time. So, without further ado, here is a match-up these two participated in earlier this year.

* Forever Hooligans vs. Timesplitters – Time: 2/10/2013
Place: NJPW The New Beginning 2013 @ Hiroshima Sun Plaza in Hiroshima, Japan

These two teams have spent the better part of two years working with one another for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Titles and it shows in this match. At this point in their rivalry, they have a strong amount of comfort with one another and that’s something that’s quite priceless. This match-up is, in my opinion, worth your time.

* Kazuchika Okada vs. Minoru Suzuki – Time: 2/10/2013
Place: NJPW The New Beginning 2013@ Hiroshima Sun Plaza in Hiroshima, Japan

Okada, who is currently one of the youngest World Champions in wrestling history, as well as one the youngest draws ever, gets in the ring with Minoru Suzuki, one the very best technicians that wrestling has ever had, as well as one the best draws in Japanese wrestling today. This match-up takes place before Okada would regain the IWGP World Heavyweight Title, New Japan Pro Wrestling’s highest honor and top prize. This is excellent stuff all around and I’m glad to be able to make it available to you.

* La Sombra vs. Shinsuke Nakamura – Time: 5/31/2013
Place: CMLL on Televisa @ Arena Mexico in Mexico City, Mexico

Nakamura, the IWGP Intercontinental Champion during this bout, is one of New Japan’s best wrestlers. La Sombra, is one Consejo Mundial De Lucha Libre’s hottest young luchadores. When they are together, they have an unbelievable amount of chemistry that makes this inter-promotional bout a massive success.
