Kane Speaks On Possibly Running For Political Office

Glenn “Kane” Jacobs says he’s still eyeing a possible career in politics.

Back in May, Jacobs said he was “seriously considering” running as a Republican for the Knox County mayoral seat in 2018, now he says he think the country may be ready for him. In a new interview with Rare.us, Jacobs says being an outsider may be an advantage.

“I’d always hesitated before because I never thought the timing was right for someone like me, because I am an outsider,” he said. “Now, I think the country is so ready for a change at this point that being an outsider actually plays to my or anyone else in my position’s advantage. There are a lot of people in Washington, D.C., who have a lot of experience, and because of that, we’re 20 trillion dollars in debt.”

Jacobs says politics divides people into tribes, and that he thinks people with opposing views should communicate better with each other.

“To me, the American dream is the ability to create the life that you want. If we can get back to that, that the American dream is the opportunity, the ability to create the life that you want so long as you’re not hurting anyone else, to live that life…if someone could come along with that message, it’d be awesome.”

More than one group attempted to recruit Jacobs to run for Tennessee senator in 2014 against Lamar Alexander.
