Latest Reported Backstage News On Sting Officially Signing With WWE, Scheduled Projects

sting

It’s been reported several times since WrestleMania XXX and even before, by numerous sources, that Sting officially signing with WWE was imminent. Now that it still hasn’t happened, the feeling is that imminent is no longer the word to describe the situation.

You may remember Sting revealing in an interview that he indeed had talks with WWE a few years ago and that he came close to signing. There was a deal in place a few years back where WWE believed Sting was coming in for 100 dates. This may have been the deal Sting revealed in the interview but he ended up not taking WWE’s deal and as we know, went with TNA’s deal instead. Hopefully this isn’t another instance of Sting coming close to signing with WWE but backing off with a deal on the table.

At last word, Sting is still scheduled to work on several WWE Network and DVD projects.

I hope he signs with WWE. Lord knows they really need this.

If they “really need this” as you put it, then they are in more trouble than can even be put into words. If the companies success actually hinges on a 55 year old, out of shape Sting, then they are screwed.

Sting doesn’t have to come in and give a 1996 caliber performance. He needs to come in on a well booked storyline and deliver his classic character spots. He is probably the biggest star of the last 20 years to never compete in a WWE ring, and people want to see it. His appearance would be far more interesting than anything they have going on right now.

        • Joshua Williams

I’m not saying it wouldn’t be a big deal, I;m just saying that if the companies success hinges on him coming in, then they have huge problems that Sting is not going to be able to fix.

I agree with your point. They certainly need something right now. The post mania dry spell is in full effect. It’s the same Cena/Wyatt, Shield/Evolution, Steph/Bryan shit every week. I’m fine with long feuds, but sometimes I think I clicked on last week’s episode in my DVR! At least make the the other title’s feel important!

So, NOTHING HAS CHANGED. WTF is with this column.
