Hello Ladies and Gentlemen, firstly, I have decided to rename my editorials, The Mike Check. Secondly, this Sunday we have the Elimination Chamber Pay Per View to look forward to. There are definite Wrestlemania ramifications on the line and the card looks solid on paper. Here are my predictions for what I believe is going to happen this Sunday
YouTube Pre-Show Match
The Rhodes Scholars vs Brodus and Tensai
What a difference a couple of weeks make. It was two weeks ago that Team Rhodes Scholars broke up in order to persue their singles careers but now they are back together. They are the Justin Beiber and Selena Gomez of WWE. How long until Cody goes full on Taylor Swift and tells the world that he is Damien are never ever ever getting back together? Back on point, after nearly a year of being squashed by every midcarder on the roster, the WWE found a niche for Tensai as a comedy face. If Santino Marella was not injured, they probably would have put Tensai in a tag team with him instead of Brodus. The Dancing Fools 2.0 are now facing two of the most up and coming superstars on the roster, however, Tensai and Brodus need a win to solidfy their attempt to become a tag team while Cody and Damien will probably break up after this and try to make their singles career work again. I pick The Dancing Fools to win and get jiggy with some little kids to get the crown pumped up for the show ahead.
WINNER: Brodus Clay and Tensai
WWE Divas Championship Match
Kaitlyn © vs Tamina
The bad news has been that The Divas seems to have vanished from TV this month and there was no real build up for their match other than the Las Vegas ShowGirls match on RAW that had to stopped because of their brawl. The match was announced on WWE’s App, which the average fan does not check daily, or care about. The good news is that Kaitlyn and Tamina can go in the ring. Tamina has had great matches in the past with the likes of Beth Phoenix and if she can get a good match out of Kaitlyn, this match will not be the bathroom break match that most people believe it will be. However, there are only about three divas left on the roster that can actually wrestle now so it would be a good time for WWE to look down at NXT and bring up Paige, Emma, or Summer Rae. Kaitlyn is only a month into her title reign and I expect her to carry the gold into Wrestlemania.
WINNER and STILL Divas Champion: Kaitlyn
WWE United States Championship Match
Antonio Cesaro © vs The Miz
This match was the Youtube Pre-Show match last month and thankfully, this match was not a one off feud. The Miz and Antonio have been feuding all over WWE TV this month and despite both Cesaro and The Miz being shown up by muscle bound morons this month, Cesaro and Miz can both go in the ring. The only bad thing about this feud is the fact that these two men have not have more time to confront each other on the mic. Cesaro is red hot right now and I do not seeing WWE taking the United States Championship away from him quite yet. I think Cesaro will be featured at Wrestlemania as the champion but will lose the title on the grandest stage of them off. So, expect Antonio Cesaro to beat The Miz again this month.
WINNER and STILL United States Champion: Antonio Cesaro
World Heavyweight Championship Match
Alberto del Rio © vs The Big Show
Alberto del Rio has done everything in his power this month to try to get over with the WWE fans this month but it is still just a little flat. He has not yet clicked with me as the face. Ricardo Rodriguez is more over with the crowd considering that he is the one that has been the target of The Big Show’s wrath. The Big Show on the other hand has had some of the best matches of her career in the recent months and should be able to get a good match of The World Champion of Mexico. I cannot see this match ending cleanly. What I believe is going to happen is that The Big Show will cause a DQ or Countout.
WINNER via DQ or Countout: Alberto del Rio
World Heavyweight Championship Match
Alberto del Rio (c) vs Dolph Ziggler
In his fury, after the match is over, The Big Show will take out his frustrations on Alberto del Rio. This will give Dolph Ziggler, who does not have a match scheduled on the card, to come out and cash in the Money in the Bank. Dolph Ziggler has more gusto and credibility to be the World Champion right now than either Alberto del Rio or The Big Show does. I would gladly pay to see Dolph Ziggler vs the winner of the Elimination Chamber rather than pay to see Alberto del Rio.
WINNER and NEW World Heavyweight Champion: Dolph Ziggler
The Shield vs John Cena, Sheamus, and Ryback.
I am not even going to waste my time with this match. Does anyone truly believe that The Shield stands a chance here? They are going up against The Three Cenas: John Cena, Irish Cena, and Cena minus 5 chromosomes. John Cena needs momentum before his match at Wrestlemania and will pick up the win here. The Shield is simply this years version of Kane.
WINNERS: John Cena, Sheamus, and Ryback.
Elimination Chamber Match
Randy Orton vs Daniel Bryan vs Kane vs Mark Henry vs Jack Swagger vs Chris Jericho
The winner of this match will go onto Wrestlemania to face the World Champion. All six of these men are former World Champions and should be able to give us an incredible chamber match. Four of these men could definitely head to Wrestlemania to face the World Champion, the other two would be Team Hell No. Daniel Bryan and Kane seem to be on the outs and one of them will probably eliminate the other. It’s expected that Team Hell No will implode before or at Wrestlemania. I would set it before so that Kane and Daniel Bryan can have a match together a Wrestlemania. Mark Henry and Randy Orton are two superstars that WWE always want to protect and I expect them to look very strong here. Jack Swagger has recently returned and is now in sort of a Right Wing Redneck American gimmick with Dutch Mantell has his manager, if Alberto del Rio is able to hold onto the title, expect Swagger to win this match. If my prediction about Dolph Ziggler comes to fruition as I believe it to be, expect Chris Jericho to pick up the win, I would bet the farm on Y2J.
WINNER: Chris Jericho
WWE Championship Match
The Rock © vs CM Punk
The winner of this match will headline Wrestlemania to face John Cena. I may get slammed for saying this but last month’s match between these two men left a lot to be desired. Given the caliber of the talent involved in the match, I expected a 5 Star classic and what we got could barely crack three. CM Punk and The Rock need to bring their A-Game into this match. There was a stipulation added this week that if The Rock gets himself DQed or Counted Out, CM Punk will be awarded the title, expect this stipulation to be exploited in this match but I doubt that a title change will take place. You could probably expect to see another Dusty Finish with someone like Brad Maddox coming out and attacking CM Punk causing a DQ and being award the title only for someone to come out and say that since The Rock didn’t get HIMSELF disqualified, the match will continue. Expect The Rock to hold onto the championship and move into his feud with John Cena at Wrestlemania. Once in a Lifetime my ass…
WINNER: The Rock
