News On Several Royal Rumble Scenarios That Were Scrapped
With the 2012 Royal Rumble in the history books, we have news on several discussed scenarios for the Rumble that did not wind up happening:
- One of the ideas WWE officials were discussing for the Royal Rumble would have seen John Cena winthe Royal Rumble and earn a title shot at WrestleMania 28. Cena would then be forced to choose between his match with The Rock and challenging either the WWE or World Heavyweight champion. This idea was nixed and Cena was not part of the Rumble match.
- Several scenarios were planned out for Randy Orton to win in his hometown of St. Louis.
- There was talk of Christian entering the Royal Rumble match, but the decision was made to hold off on his return.
