THE SUMMERSLAM AFTERMATH
The show opened with the ECW Alliance coming down to ringside as Paul Heyman took the mic and said that at Summerslam he promised RVD as the new ECW champion and it happened as the fans booed, he said that RVD had waited for this moment for almost a year but finally the title was back in the Alliance were it belonged, RVD took the mic and he said that he knew he could beat Abyss and he beat him in his own game, Abyss thought he was extreme but RVD said he was more extreme, he said that the Alliance indeed helped him out but he could have done the job alone if it was necessary so this brought out General manager Stephanie McMahon, she said that the last sentence made her curious because at Summerslam RVD needed 5 men to beat Abyss to win the title so how does he think he could beat Abyss on his own, RVD said he was a fighting champion and he could beat any superstar one on one so Stephanie said fine and she said that tonight RVD will defend the ECW Championship in a Extreme Rules Match against Abyss and if someone of the Alliance interferes in this one RVD will be stripped off the title as RVD is furious as Heyman said she couldn’t do that as Stephanie said she just did.
In the first match of the evening Chris Sabin took on Shawn Michaels as both went back and forth scoring numberous pinfalls as last Sunday both men couldn’t get the job done and winning the Heavyweight Championship, HBK looked to win the match when he looked for Sweet Chin Music but Sabin ducked and nailed a DDT on HBK, Chris Sabin eventually nailed HBK with the Cradle Shock for the win and proved he could still be a contender for the title despite not winning it at Summerslam.
Kurt Angle is entering Stephanie McMahon her office and he demands a re-match against the Rock because it was thanks to Flair that he lost the match, Stephanie said that Rock wasn’t here tonight but she could set up another match, Angle said he wanted Flair but Stephanie again said no because Flair was still not cleared to wrestle as Angle went nuts, Stephanie said that Kurt was a cry baby and she wasn’t the kindergartner, she said that since he wanted a fight he got one as she booked Angle next against the Big Red Monster Kane.
Kurt Angle took on Kane as Kane was dominant in the early going with his power, he nailed Angle with a big boot and followed it up with a side walk slam but Angle fought back and nailed three german suplexes on Kane and even nailed Kane with the Angle Slam but Kane kicked out, Angle looked for the Ankle Lock but Kane kicked him away as Angle rushed to Kane as Kane laid out Angle with another big boot and than he grabbed Angle by the throat and Chokeslammed him to Hell as Kane got the win in this one as Angle again lost another match on Nitro.
It was a busy night as Stephanie McMahon once again made her way out and she walked to ringside, she said that last Sunday she fired Chris Benoit and she didn’t regret it one minut, she said he failed in so many ways and since he needed a contract renewal she refused to renew the contract and last Sunday Benoit fought his last match and lost against a newcomer, Stephanie said it was now over and she never wanted to hear the name Benoit ever again, she said that it was now time for business, she said that at Haloween Havoc the World Heavyweight Championship will be defended inside the Elimination Chamber, she said that two men are already in that match and that are World champion The Undertaker and the Punjabi monster the Great Khali but this match needed 4 more superstars and to determine those 4 in the next weeks we will see 4 matches and the winners qualify for the Chamber and a change of winning the World Heavyweight Championship, out comes a bitter Chris Jericho with his ribs taped up as he said that at Summerslam he got a beating but he still has a fight in him and he wants to qualify for the chamber match because he deserved to be in it, Stephanie said fine, Chris would get another change of qualifying for the Chamber Match but than he has to beat Chris Sabin next week.
We see CM Punk backstage and he walked up to Kane and Paul Bearer, Punk thanked Kane for his help at Summerslam and said if he could do something back for him he would do that, Paul Bearer said that Kane hated the Alliance and he didn’t want anything back for it but he also said that Kane isn’t going to watch his back because Kane has other things on his mind as Punk said that’s fine as he walked off.
It was now time for a new episode of the Cutting Edge as Edge was in the ring with his set up and he said that last Sunday he wasn’t a happy man losing the TV Championship but he said fine, the fans got what they wanted and that was a great match as the fans cheered but he said he didn’t care about that because he lost the title and he wanted it back but before he would do that he has a guest here tonight and he called out the World Heavyweight champion the Undertaker, the lights went out as Taker made his way out and brought on the lights with a massive explosion, Edge congratulated Taker with his win at Summerslam but he wanted to know what he thought about the Chamber match coming up at Havoc, Taker said that when the dawn is over the deadman will still stand tall with the title around his waist, he said that no mortal soul can beat him, Edge said that Taker lost the title at the Rumble and he wasn’t pinned for it and won it back 5 days later and since than he has held on to the title but Edge said that there are many contenders wanting his championship, Edge said he could be in the chamber match himself and taking that title, Taker got into the face of Edge and said that he has to look deep into the eyes of the reeper and ask himself that question again, Edge again said that he could win the title himself as Taker grabbed him by the throat and chokeslammed him down, Taker picked up Edge and nailed him with the Tombstone Piledriver but as he looked back up onto the ramp the Great Khali again stood there watching the Undertaker.
In the next match Raven had to put his X Division Championship on the line in a 3 way dance as he took on Gregory Helms & Austin Aries, Helms & Aries double teamed the champion on several occassions but Raven eventually fought back and had Helms on the outside and slammed him into the steel steps but back into the ring Aries took control and even countered the Evenflow DDT of Raven and nailed a neckbreaker of himself and than he shocked Raven with the 450 Splash and covered as Austin Aries had done it and became the NEW X Division champion as Helms on the outside couldn’t believe it that his partner won the gold for the first time as Aries was happy and held the title in the air.
Michael Shane was standing with Maria and she congratulated him about his win and wanted to know his thoughts, Michael said it felt good having back his TV Championship, he said he accomplished a lot since coming to Nitro but he still has another level to go up to, he said that soon he should be considered a contender for the Heavyweight Championship, he said that since there is a opportunity in qualifying for the chamber match he wanted a shot at that, he said that what his uncle did in the past he could do the same, he said he was the future of this business and soon he would prove it, Maria asked him who would be next in line for a shot at this title, Michael said that Edge had his change and he won’t give him another one, Jonny Nitro walked by and he said that since he is on a singles role he should be in line for a shot at the TV championship, Michael laughed him off and said he isn’t ready for a match against him as Nitro got in his face and said he would prove that but Mercury attacked Nitro from behind as Shane watched on, Mercury slammed Nitro hard into the walls and than grabbed a chair and clocked Nitro with it and yelled that there war was far from over.
It was time for the main event as Rob van Dam had to defend his ECW Championship against the former champion Abyss in a Extreme Rules Match and nobody of the Alliance could interfere in this one as Abyss beat down RVD big time and gave him a huge beating, RVD used everything he could use, he cracked a chair onto the head of RVD and busted him wide open, he powerbombed the champion right threw a table but somehow the champion kicked out, Abyss brought in the bag of tumbtacks and opened it but RVD somehow fought back and out of nowhere nailed a DDT on Abyss right into the tacks and covered but the monster kicked out, RVD slammed Abyss into the corner and grabbed a garbage can and put it before Abyss and nailed him with the Vandamminator and covered but Abyss kicked out again, RVD set up another table and put Abyss on it as RVD went to the top and looked for the 5 Star frog Splash but Abyss moved off the table as RVD crashed himself right threw it, Abyss took control and send RVD into the ropes and nailed him with a big boot, Abyss than nailed the Chokeslam and covered but RVD somehow kicked out as Abyss signalled for the end and looked again at the tumbtacks and sends RVD into the ropes and caught him and nailed a devastating Black Hole Slam on RVD right into the tacks as RVD is in real pain but before Abyss can make the cover it’s the Great Khali coming out as Abyss looks at him as Khali gets into the ring as Abyss attacks him but Khali whips him into the corner but Abyss fights back but Khali is to much for him and grabs Abyss by the throat and nails the double hand chokeslam on Abyss right into the tacks as Khali leaves the ring as RVD somehow is able to roll up Abyss and covers for the win as Khali looks on as the show went off the air.
