Renee Young Gets Promoted to WWE Superstars, HHH Comments, NXT Stars Talk World Cup

– WWE’s website announced today that Renee Young has officially joined the WWE Superstars commentary team, beginning with today’s new episode. She will be working the show with Tom Phillips. This makes Renee WWE’s first full time announcer in more than a decade. Renee commented to

“I feel there is definitely a certain amount of pressure, not only as a performer and broadcaster but representing women who may not even know this is something that they want to do. I can show other women that if you’re not a Diva and you still want to be involved in WWE, there’s so much you can do. It’s definitely really cool to be in the position to create a bit of a niche for myself and other women.”

Triple H also commented on the promotion:

“It has nothing to do with her being a female or not, it has to do with her being the right person for the job. She’s got a great voice that cuts through the clutter. She is very knowledgeable about WWE, about its history, about the talent and she is really willing to step up and do her homework.”

Going to Superstars is a promotion?

    • C.J.

I would think it’s better to have a bona fide spot commentating on a show rather than giving interviews. Sure, the content on Superstars generally isn’t that good. But, the position is indeed an advancement as far as Renee’s career ladder is concerned.

  • Griffin Darke

Well deserved. She’s living her dream job. She used to host an after show on the channel that airs WWE in Canada. Once she left the show fell apart, but happy for her.

  • Monkey D. Luffy

I don’t think it’s a promotion to be on WWE Superstars.. wouldn’t that be a step back?

  • Monkey D. Luffy

I’m not a Renee-hater, but if you listen to her on commentary, it’s actually bad, so much so, you would be grateful we still have Cole.

  • Paul Petit-Frere

I think Renee should have replaced Michael Cole on SmackDown, since he also commentates on RAW
