Ring of Honor Report – December 1, 2013

Welcome to my first official review of ROH on PWMania! It’s good to be able to put another spotlight on this promotion and I hope you enjoy ROH as much as I do. Well, let’s end the waiting game and get down to it.

Roderick Strong vs. Davey Richards

What a way to start of my reviews for ROH, by having a great opener from these two. With smart, crisp holds, smooth transitions and plenty of heart-stopping action (mine stopped long enough to make my left side numb); this was a fantastic way to start the night off.

Winner: Roderick Strong – Pin-fall

As a quick aside, it is a shame that Davey’s personal conduct has led to his termination from ROH, as he has always been a hard worker for the company. Hopefully, he’ll be able to land on his feet and get lucrative work in good promotions. Thanks for all the great matches Davey Richards.

Mark Briscoe vs. Michael Elgin

This bout was a surprisingly conventional one, as the action felt more like it belonged in the WWE than in ROH, which isn’t a bad thing. Everything came to a boil when Silas Young and Jay Briscoe got involved and caused a four-man brawl. This, in turn, led to a no contest ruling.

Winner: No Contest

Adam Cole vs. Jimmy Jacobs – Ring of Honor World Championship Match

All I can say is “WOW!” in regards to this match. This was so very much a methodical bout, with loads of spectacular moments that would certainly keep the most devout ROH fan satiated. It’s great to finally see Jimmy Jacobs get a World Title Match on Sinclair’s broadcasts, as he’s been of one the world’s best for many years and one ROH’s best since its inception. I hope this is the first of many bouts between these two, as I hope this is the first of many great defenses for one of the great wrestlers of today, in Adam Cole.

Winner: Adam Cole – Pin-fall

Well, that rounds out my first report for ROH on PWMania and I hope to have you back, next time.
