Ring of Honor TV Report – December 29, 2013

Welcome to the final ROH broadcast of the year! We will crown the ROH Match of the Year!

This show was dedicated to airing video packages on the various goings-on of the promotion for the year, with the SCUM angle being recapped extensively, to the tag team division’s revival, as well as the record-breaking length of Matt Taven’s TV Title reign. Adam Cole’s rise to the top of ROH was recapped, once again, by spotlighting the Adam Cole/Michael Elgin ROH World Title fight, which almost won match of the year.

Indeed, it can be said that ROH had an excellent 2013, with a triumphant return to the worldly approach to booking that gave the company its sense of importance back. ROH did have its share of hiccups, mainly having to do with the iPPV’s not airing flawlessly, which effectively ended that revenue source for the company to rely upon. The other pitfall for the company was the injury issues and while they were not plentiful, they were serious, from BJ Whitmir’s neck breaking to Paul London’s concussion, the ROH style, while entertaining, is vastly too dangerous for its own good. I hope 2014 leads to a more thoughtful approach to performing a match and for the injuries to become as minor as possible.

This all being said, our show for the evening does have one match to air in its entirety:

Thanks for reading and I’ll see you, next year.
