Rockstar Spud Talks About Impact Wrestling’s Move To Wednesday Nights & His Thoughts On Option C

In part one of a two part interview, TNA’s X Division champion, Rockstar Spud took some time to participate in an interview with PWMania.com. Spud reveals his thoughts on iMPACT moving to Wednesdays, and his thoughts on ‘Option C’ on Wednesday June 3rd’s airing of iMPACT wrestling on Destination America. Check out part one of the interview below:

What are your thoughts on IMPACT Wrestling moving to Wednesday nights starting today (June 3rd) 9/8c on Destination America?

I think it’s a great move for us because obviously not a lot of people watch television on a Friday night. Even though we built a great audience on the Friday nights with Destination America moving to Wednesday’s is going to help us a lot more. All of a sudden now we’ve got ‘Pro Wrestling Wednesday so Wednesday night is pro wrestling night in America and serious to God it’s a great time to be a wrestling fan and employ everybody to watch and because every Wednesday some of the best athletes in the world are going to be performing for you guys and its good for the business and its good for the industry.

Rockstar Spud will have a huge decision to make. Will he utilize “Option C” and give up the X Division title for a shot at Kurt Angle’s World Title?

I don’t know. I don’t know until Wednesday comes it puts me on the spot. There is a lot to weigh up. When I was a young wrestler on the independents 14 years ago, AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels, Frankie Kazarian, Samoa Joe, Austin Aries, The Amazing Red they had all come to the United Kingdom to defend the X division championship so it’s an attainable goal for me. I wanted that to be my goal when I came up through the ranks on the independents. The problem I have now is do I sacrifice that and all years of hard work now for a no risk, no reward opportunity and face the world heavyweight champion, Olympic Gold medalist and the greatest wrestler of all time, Kurt Angle. Is it a no win situation for me? Possibly. Is there a possibility? A one in a million chance that I could beat Kurt Angle? I say, yes because I’m an underdog and I don’t have to win all the time. But when I do win you’ll always remember it. So who is to say that I’m not going to win it if I go on to face Kurt Angle? Nobody knows. I don’t know what I’m going to do. That’s going to be the biggest decision of my life and please tune in to watch it because I’m going to be put on the spot and I hope you believe in my decision. I hope you’re with Spud with a decision because all the fans have been with me since day one on this crazy journey at one British Boot Camp and I thank them for that. If I make the right choice, I’m going to put every one of you on my back and we’re all going to go on this journey and keep going forward.

Please check back next week for part two of a much more in-depth look at Rockstar Spud, his career, his influences and how things have clicked in this feud with Ethan Carter III.
