WWE Hall of Famer Steve Austin recently spoke with Steven Muehlhausen of BetweenTheRopes.com to promote “The Broken Skull Challenge”, which premieres on CMT on Sunday, July 6th at 8pm. You can hear the full interview at this link. Here are some highlights from the interview:

Which WWE star would have the least difficult time on The Broken Skull Challenge:
“I think Seth Rollins and Antonio Cesaro might be able to get through the course. But you know, they would have to get through the challenges first and had the competitions and then take on the course. It would be (laughs) very interesting to see Seth Rollins compete against Antonio Cesaro at the Broken Skull Challenge.”

Next mainstream star in WWE:
“Whew, that’s a great question. There’s three guys who have big superstars written on them. I think Bray Wyatt is one of them, Cesaro is one of them, but when I got to mention the guy your asking for is Roman Reigns. He happens to be related to The Rock. Good looking kid, damn good worker in the ring, I want to know some more about his promos. But man, if I got to look at the roster right now and say whose my next megastar, his name is Roman Reigns.”

See, even one of the all time greats, Stone Cold Steve Austin knows Roman Reigns is the next big star. Because he’s marketable, and is exactly what Vince is looking for when you mention “face of the company”

it’ll only be a matter of time before he gets the Cena-treatment. I dislike how they raise these guys into stars, because they are being groomed similarly to how Cena was, by being Superheroes and overcoming the odds and all that bs. It may be too early to even say that, but i have faith that Reigns will be a badass face and not a kiss ass, annoying superhero like Cena.

Even Cena’s rapper gimmick used to be a badass one (was/is still one of my favorites) but look how it all turned out eventually.

If, for a second you ignore his natural talents, it certainly helps that Roman is a 3rd gen wrestler, also helps that his brother “Rosie” was wrestling for WWE back in like 2004 (Hurricane’s Sidekick), it helps that his cousins Rikishi, Yokozuna and Umaga were also wrestlers for the WWE and that his 2nd Cousins Jimmy and Jey are also wrestlers for the WWE.

Roman Reigns is a great wrestler but some of his “it guy” status comes from his lineage.
