It’s time to head into the realm of the mighty WWE as we take a look at their latest pay-per-view offering, Money in the Bank, shown live in the early hours of this past Monday morning on Sky Sports here in Britain. The show began with the Smackdown Money in the Bank match, featuring Dolph Ziggler, Santino Marella, Cody Rhodes, Damien Sandow, Tyson Kidd, Sin Cara, Tensai and Christian. As is my custom I’ll say that this was a good way to start the show. It was contested in theRead More

Thunder’s Weekly Rundown 07/14/12

TNA Destination X Final Thoughts: TNA delivered 95% on this ppv. The four way opening match was solid, and the four qualifying matches for the Ultimate X were solid. Joe and Angle put on a good match, and Daniels/Styles was as personal and physical as we expected it to be. The main event saw a new World Champion crowned in what will be one of the most underrated ppv main events this year. My only disappointment from the entire show would be the Ultimate X match. The match was aRead More
- The real-life power base of John Laurinaitis within WWE continues to weaken. Triple H now has his hires running just about every aspect of WWE’s talent relations department. Laurinaitis is still doing WWE’s payroll but is considered to be a performer mostly. The feeling is that he will return to WWE TV this year as a main character. – While Alberto Del Rio has said publicly that he’s only going to wrestle for a few more years, there are people who believe he won’t be long-term for WWE. DelRead More

Backstage News On Alberto Del Rio Being More Aggressive

Earlier this year before Alberto Del Rio returned from injury, it was reported that Vince McMahon wanted to bring Del Rio back as a more aggressive heel. WWE recently pulled the trigger on those plans and the idea going forward is that Del Rio will be more ruthless. Del Rio’s recent attacks on Sheamus and Sin Cara are part of his new mean streak. Del Rio is expected to win the World Heavyweight Title sometime this year. (Source: More

WWE No Way Out Final Thoughts: No Way Out delivered well. The card was exactly what I was expecting it to be and I felt the show was a big success overall. Swapping out Del Rio and adding Dolph Ziggler to the World Title match was a terrific idea. I honestly feel Ziggler should be a strong candidate to win MITB next month, but it stands to reason that WWE may just let him fall into obscurity once again. Of the three times he’s now competed for a World Title,Read More
- Regarding Alberto Del Rio being pulled from No Way Out due to a concussion but wrestling Santino Marella the next night on this week’s RAW, it was explained by a source that WWE is just very strict on the issue of concussions. Del Rio was not cleared to wrestle by the June 11th go-home RAW and there was no probability on June 11th that he would be cleared for No Way Out so they went with the back-up plan of Dolph Ziggler getting the shot against Sheamus. Del RioRead More

While the account mocking WWE’s creative direction returned online following some profile tweaks (now located @WWECreative_ish), the McMahon parody remains down. The @CrankyVince account spoofed McMahon’s demeanor and mindset with random musings depicting the WWE Chairman as an eccentric, sex-crazed, drug-addled egomaniac. It had drawn alarming concern from organization officials since last year, which due to the sensitive nature of the tweets, believedRead More
