Tea Time with Liam: It’s one of Those Columns
Looking at my watch, I once again realised I was super late posting this. Like by a week or two. Well that’s laziness for you. Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to another riveting edition of Tea Time with Liam where I’m going to try to share with you my thoughts and ramblings on the wacky world of pro wrestling. Before I start I’d like to ask you, the readers to help me out. When the wrestling news week is slow, the chances are that you wont get a column from me. Like I said I’m a lazy person so I don’t need an excuse not to write. So if you’re reading this and have any suggestions or something you want me to write about. Just tweet me your idea. My Twitter will be at the bottom of the page as always.
Today, I will be talking about……errrr. Well actually nothing in particular. Today’s column is one of those where I take a number of wrestling news items or rumours and offer you guys my thoughts. Basically, it’s a “Liam has nothing major to write about so he’s going to fill his column with nonsense.” I don’t do these all too often but I haven’t wrote anything for a while and want to get my thoughts out there to my readers (when I say readers I mean the 21 people who actually read my stuff) See, that was meant to be a joke. Remember to tweet me to tell me I’m not funny. Okay, I’ll stop the comedy. It sucks when sometime tries to be funny but it’s actually just awful. (Hey Santino, how you doing?)
Triple H to address his future on this Monday’s Raw
So HHH has been added to the billing for Raw this Monday and WWE have announced that he will be addressing his future. I don’t think that anybody actually expects HHH to announce his retirement tomorrow night. I can see one of two things happening. Either HHH will challenge Lesnar to a rematch down the line, possibly at Survivor Series. Or the other option, have HHH tease retirement, then have some people come down to the ring, guys like Cena or surprise appearance by HBK or maybe even Vince McMahon. If HHH was to announce his retirement, it certainly would surprise me.
On a side, If any superstars do interact with HH, I’d just like to point out that around a year or so ago, maybe longer, almost the entire WWE lockeroom walked out on HHH because he had created an unsafe work environment. I know it’s all storyline but it will be just funny to see the same people who walked out on him a year ago, start kissing his behind.
WWE have realised that they have other tag teams
That is indeed correct. The above sentence is true. It seems that the days of WWE randomly throwing together a tag team to take on the champions are finally gone. WWE began a new feud for the Tag Team Title number one contendership on this weeks SmackDown The Usos, Epico & Primo, Titus O’Neil & Darren Young plus Tyson Kidd & Justin Gabriel all participated in a backstage segment where they thought they should get a title shot. Booker T’s assistant Eve Torres gathered win-loss records for each team.
Four teams right there. I’d love to see any of them holding the tag belts. The win-loss comment from Eve intrigued me slightly, but the way I look at it is simple. Raw and SmackDown combined, WWE has five hours of TV to fill each week. Plenty of time for all four tag teams to feature. I’d love to see some kind of mini tournament, where the four teams would alternate facing against each other over the next few weeks and the week before the next PPV, the team with the most wins will get the shot. This would keep all four teams on TV, for at least a month and would go some way as to building the tag division.
CM Punk is the best in the world
The “best in the world” phrase gets banded about in the WWE quite often. Guys like CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, Y2J often state that they are indeed the best in the world. Even John Cena chirped in last week exclaiming that he was the best in the world. But now all those arguments can finally stop. No longer do we have to hear people say that they are the best because it’s official. CM Punk is the best wrestler in the world…..Well according to PWI anyway.
I’m not sure how many wrestlers take this seriously and Punk has often stated his distain for Wrestling news sites. But on a serious note, good on him. He was the best thing in WWE for the second half of 2011 and for the most part, he’s been the best thing for most of this year. Not to mention holding the WWE title for almost ten months. That is almost unheard of in the current day WWE.
So Cena, Bryan and anyone else who thinks that they are the best in the world. Zip it. I hope Punk carries the list with him. So in time in Cena says “I’m the best in the world” I want Punk to pull out the list and say “Actually Cena, you only made it to number three.” I want Daniel Bryan’s anger management to continue also. As he so often tells AJ “I am the best wrestler in the world” AJ can respond in her own crazy way “Actually Daniel, you only made it to number four, sorry about that”
You can find the whole five hundred somewhere on the internet. I’m too lazy to link it in here. Chances are if you’re reading this, you’re about two clicks away from the list.
We’re getting Sheamus Vs Alberto Del Rio…..again
I don’t know why. I don’t know who. But somebody in WWE must think that this feud is good. My question is why is that person still employed. Sheamus has beaten Del Rio at the last three pay per views. That matches have been good, not great, but for the most part the crowd just hasn’t been into their matches at all. Sheamus has done a very good job representing SmackDown as their world champion but unfortunately beating Del Rio doesn’t really do much for you when you’ve beaten him countless times before.
Everyone must remember 2008/2009 when it seemed like every PPV main event was John Cena vs. Randy Orton for the WWE title. This Sheamus Del Rio feud while not at the level of Cena/Orton annoying, if the feud isn’t ended soon, it could be. I’m hoping for someone to be added to the match, maybe Randy Orton and it seems WWE has been in the triple threat mood lately. Lets keep the main event scene fresh. I’m hoping Ziggler cashes in soon to at least add a fresh face to the world title picture and with the imminent return of Wade Barrett, hopefully this may well be the last time we see Sheamus versus Del Rio for a long time.
I think that is all for today. Not exactly my best work. But it’s been a while and I wanted to at least get something out there. Remember if you want me to write about anything in particular, you can click on my twitter below and tweet me your ideas. Send me your feedback too. I always enjoy reading it and I try my best to respond to you all.
