TMZ Reports UFC Star Looking To Get Permanent ROH Deal; UFC & ROH In Talks
- TMZ.com’s sports section reported over the weekend that UFC star “Filthy” Tom Lawlor, who worked for Ring of Honor at their War of the Worlds iPPV with New Japan Pro Wrestling, gaining praise for his work as manager of tag team reDRagon, Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly, is seeking a permanent role with ROH on his downtime between UFC fights.
Lawlor, who has worked as a professional wrestler briefly on the Californian independents, is a big wrestling fan and is known for parodying wrestlers such as the Shockmaster and Hulk Hogan during UFC fight weigh-ins. Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported a couple weeks ago that everyone in ROH was happy with Lawlor’s performance and attitude at War of the Worlds and would welcome his return, with it expected for him to be announced for ROH’s first live PPV Best in the World on June 22, in reDRagon’s corner when they face the former Bad Influence, Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian.
Ring of Honor and the UFC are said to have held discussions and UFC have given their go ahead for Lawlor to join the promotion as a manger with some physical activity possibly down the line.
