TNA Knockout Brittany Talks About Joining TNA, Her Wrestling Inspirations, Goals & More

TNA Knockout Brittany recently did an interview with 411mania.com. She talks about getting started in wrestling, choosing to come to TNA, her 2014 plans and more. Check out the interview below.

Growing up and breaking into the business, who were your inspirations and why?
Well, first off my dad of course. He used to wrestle on the independents as “TNT” Keny G. Him and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin. As far as women when I was growing up, Trish Stratus, Sable, and Victoria were a few of my favorites.

Arriving at more recent times, both WWE and TNA Impact Wrestling showed interest in you. Was there a deciding factor in your decision to sign with TNA instead of WWE? Explain.
I am always open for opportunities and take them whenever I can. I had been in talks with TNA for a while and have had a history with them. They were very inviting and welcoming, and I am happy with my decision.

A lot has been made about Christy Hemme and her huge influence with the Knockouts. In your short time with TNA, what have you learned from her or wish to learn from her going forward?
She’s been great. She takes her job very serious, and she’s someone I know that I can always turn to. She really cares about the division, and it definitely shows.

It seems the focus has been on you idolizing Madison Rayne in TNA. Are wrestling fans to expect more of a rivalry brewing or a tag team starting up?
Madison Rayne has come up the ranks, from the independents and Shimmer like I did, and then she became the Knockouts Champion. Due to our similar upbringing, Madison is a person I can really relate to. Also, she has accomplished so much in very little time, I really respect that and hope I can do the same. As for the fans, whether we are tagging or feuding, they can expect some kick butt matches.

A lot of fans may not know this, but you spent some time with TNA in 2010 with Orlando Jordan. Real quickly: Was there any long-term for that story or what were you told about that specific pairing?
As far as long term plans, I was just an extra. I was no where near ready to wrestle for TNA yet so when things didn’t pan out, it wasn’t the worst thing in the world for me.

From Twitter, Dennis wants to know about the backstage mood in TNA with the never ending talk of negativity surrounding all the rumors of TNA in 2014. Since you are fairly new to the roster, does any of that bother you? Why or why not?
Sometimes the dirt is like the telephone game. The message keeps slightly changing. I’ve been happy backstage, and everyone is there to have a good time and put on the best matches they can.

One more tough question. There was a lot of chatter about last week’s Evening Gown match on Impact. Some felt it was harmless fun. Others thought it was beneath the talented wrestlers to be more about eye candy than in-ring ability. How do you respond?
I think the undergarments I had on were less revealing than my normal gear. When I ripped off Velvet’s dress after the Beautiful People took up so much time of the TV show and then didn’t want to reveal what they promised the fans, I was disappointed and did what I could do to get the pay off. As for the evening gown match being about eye candy rather than wrestling, I think it covered both. I was still able to hit some of my signature moves including my finisher the Shining Star Press while in a floor length gown.

Two final topics. Of all the independent female wrestlers out there currently, who has been you favorite to work with and who deserves a shot at making the big time? Give us a few names.
Mia Yim and Jessica Havok. Two unique female wrestlers with their own style who I really enjoy working. Both amazing in the ring and good people in general.

Last question – what does 2014 hold for Brittany in TNA? When the calendar turns to January 1st, 2015, where do you wish to be or any specific goals in mind
In 2014, I show the wrestling world what I am made of and why I deserve this opportunity that has been presented. By 2015, I plan to be an even better wrestler, performer, and perhaps by then, I’ll have a new title like, Knockouts Champion.
