TNA Ultimate Eleven

Hey there folks! Dave Scott here yet again with a usual dose of Monday night blasphemy via words. This week I’m going to follow on with the football theme from last week and go with writing about the eleven TNA guys that I think would be most suited to being in a football team.

I’m a really big football (or soccer for you Americans) fan and I am really looking forward to the Euro’s this year, even though my beloved Scotland won’t be present in the competition. Also I am totally in love with the game Fifa. So what I though I would write about is the TNA eleven. Where if the TNA were a football team who would be in their starting eleven and what positions they would play in and why.

The team would be in the standard 4-4-2 formation. So for those of you that are unfamiliar with football that would mean the starting eleven would consist of one goalkeeper, four defenders, four midfielders and two strikers. So I’ll work from the back right up to the strikers.

With this I’m just looking to have a bit of fun, I know quite a lot of the guys would most definitely suck at football, but just let me have my fun! Also it might sound very similar to last weeks column, but hey what can I do!

If you haven’t checked out last weeks column already here is a link to it below:

Goalkeeper

Right well in the goalkeeper position I would need someone with a large presence who is consistent within their role and can handle pressure. Also a lot of goalkeepers can go on to play right into their forties, with the English Premier League having quite a lot of older keepers. So the main candidate I would go for here would be Abyss. Abyss has quite a lot of experience under his belt, he is a large guy and has a lot of strength which would make him difficult to get by. He is also willing to take risks quite often, which sometimes can benefit a goalkeeper, but could also be his downfall. However I think Abyss would be the best choice for this role.

Goalkeeper – Abyss

Defenders

With defenders there is usually a mix of experience and youth. I am a fan of having a bit of pace from your guys on the right and left and have two solid guys in the middle that are hard to get by, but still have a bit of pace to them. I always like to see a experience in the back four and I feel myself that a captain should be a member of the defence, which I know isn’t suitable for every team, but for mine it is!

Much like the WWE team I’m going to put the captains armband on one of the centre backs. The captain needs to be someone who is experienced within their role and the rest of the team can rely on, who isn’t scared to take control of a situation. Within their centre back role, they need to hold some strength to them so they can keep the opposing strikers at bay, but is still skilful and and holds some pace. The man that would be most suited to hold this role would be Kurt Angle. In next to him holding up the centre back position would be Matt Morgan who holds all these attributes but also has a lot of height to him, which could help him win corners in the box in his own and the opposite teams box.

On the left of defence I would have someone who can push forward, isn’t scared to help the midfielders and make an impact on the game, but has enough pace to cover a lot of ground if need be. For this role I think Frankie Kazarian would do well. He is a large guy, but he can still run with the smaller faster guys and keep up with them, also much like Matt Morgan he would be a solid force in the box when corners arise.

So within the defence we have a lot of experienced guys who have been with the company quite sometime, so on the right I would have someone a bit younger like Gunner. Again he is a larger guy, but he isn’t the largest, he wouldn’t be intimidated by larger attackers and could do well with keeping them off the ball. Though he isn’t the fastest of guys, he’s quite a lot faster than some of the guys in TNA without being a really small pacey guy.

Defenders:
Left Defence – Frankie Kazarian
Central Defence – Kurt Angle
Central Defence – Matt Morgan
Right Defence – Gunner

Midfielders

For the midfield. In the centre I think there should be someone in their with a bit of experience and then for the rest there should be a lot of pace and definitely a lot of skill. People who can work smart and if need be can step up to moving forward and pushing back when needs be.

So the guy with the experience in the middle would need to be Sting. He has been through it all and it definitely benefits the younger guys with him being around. Sting can still work, though he isn’t at his best these days. With the support of some younger, fitter guys around him I think he would be solid within his defensive role. He would maybe be more suited to a central defence midfielder role, so have him playing back a bit supporting the defenders.

So with Sting playing in a central defensive midfield position, rather than having two central defenders like the WWE team, I would have a centre attacking midfielder, to support the strikers. So within this role, you need someone who can play a bit further up with the strikers, getting the ball to them and someone who when needs be can step up and do it the job himself. Someone who is young with a lot of speed and skill. First person who springs to mind is Austin Aries, he is consistent, but there is guys more suited to be the main guys in the team at the moment, but after getting a bit more experience he may be able to step up his game.

Assisting Aries and Sting on the left would be Chris Sabin. Sabin is always reliable to do well and is one of the fastest guys in the roster. He would be able to make his way up the pitch a lot faster than most other guys, so working down the left would be good as he could get down the left and get balls into the box for the strikers. Working a very similar position on the right we would then have Zema Ion, he doesn’t have the experience that Sabin has, but he is a fast paced guy with a lot of confidence.

Midfielders:
Central Defensive Midfield – Sting
Left Midfield – Chris Sabin
Right Midfield – Zema Ion
Central Attacking Midfield – Austin Aries

Forwards

So for the strikers, you need guys who can do the job day in day out. They are some of the fastest guys on the squad usually, but sometimes the pace can be replaced with strength. I feel two guys who would be suited to the striker roles within the TNA team would be guys who are experienced and would be able to run with it. These two guys would be AJ Styles and Jeff Hardy. Both of these guys have been around the block but can still out perform a lot of the younger up and coming guys. These two have a proven track record, AJ is a lot more skilful, but Jeff wouldn’t be afraid to take risks and be creative within his role.

Forwards:
Striker – Jeff Hardy
Striker – AJ Styles

So this give us the TNA eleven! Agree? Disagree? Think that I have missed someone out?

Let me know on my Twitter.

So here is a run down of the TNA starting eleven.

Goalkeeper – Abyss
Left Defence – Frankie Kazarian
Central Defence – Kurt Angle
Central Defence – Matt Morgan
Right Defence – Gunner
Central Defensive Midfield – Sting
Left Midfield – Chris Sabin
Right Midfield – Zema Ion
Central Attacking Midfield – Austin Aries
Striker – Jeff Hardy
Striker – AJ Styles

So that is me for this week guys! Hope you all enjoy Raw tonight and I’ll see you all next week.

Cheers!
