Top 3 SmackDown Decisions That Will Make Survivor Series Great

The Blue Brand prepares for the first RAW vs. SmackDown clash of the New Era and some of the decisions made last night promise to turn Survivor Series into a goldmine for the show, regardless of the outcome. Here are the top 3 booking decisions made on SD Live that will influence the impact of Survivor Series.

Shane Captains Team SmackDown

Appointing Shane as the leader of Team SmackDown was such a simple and yet, such a brilliant decision.

SmackDown is the show of the people and Shane is seen by the audience as “one of us”. He lacks the corporate vibe and this makes him relatable. By accepting to be at Surviovr Series, Shane not only leads by example, but also gives the WWE Universe a figure to get behind and cheer.

Furthermore, Shane in the ring ties in the McMahon family feud storyline. It might not be at the forefront but the brother/sister rivalry with Stephanie is what drove the brand split, according to the storyline, so keeping it up is just an example of good attention to detail.

Shane’s presence at Survivor Series may also allow for a brief clash between Shane and Paul Heyman/Brock Lesnar backstage, as a foreshadowing of WrestleMania.

The bottom line is that now SmackDown is officially the face in the battle between brands that will take place at Survivor Series.

Kalisto Fights for the Cruiserweights

I thought that Ziggler, putting his title on the line, was a bold move. However, having Kalisto fight Brian Kendrick for the entire Cruiserweight Division takes things to a whole new level.

I can’t even begin to describe the impact that a victory for Kalisto at Survivor Series would have. The Cruiserweight Division is struggling on RAW. It’s obvious that the Red Brand’s creative team don’t know what to do with them. There is no character development; the matches get subsequently overshadowed by fights with higher stakes.

Ever since the brand split, the SmackDown writers have been proving their incredible talent for bringing engaging, refreshing storylines that compliment character development. This is the exact approach the cruiserweights need, in order to get over with the fans.

The Cruiserweight Division is a gold mine and SmackDown might just be able to make it work. Therefore, let’s keep our fingers crossed that Kalisto will come victorious over The Man with the Plan at Survivor Series.

Breezango- On the Team

It’s been weeks since Tyler Breeze and Fandango started setting up their Fashion Police gimmick. It was all done in fallout segments, instead of being on the main show but the videos proved to be quite popular, due to their hilarity.

Having Breezango on Team SmackDown is not nearly as monumental as the previous two decisions. However, it is worth mentioning because it’s a move that shows the heart of SmackDown. The Blue Brand is once again investing in talent that has been neglected until now.

Breezango have a weird appeal. They came across more as tweeners, rather than heels last night on SmackDown. They did carry on with their heel gimmick and the UGGO tickets but they got unfairly jumped by the Vaudevillains and got cheered by the fans.

Breezango could easily be SmackDown’s equivalent of the New Day, if the Blue Brand plays its cards well. Breezango only need to seize the chance and deliver at Survivor Series, in order to get back in the spotlight.
