Video: CM Punk Talks About Daniel Bryan, Batista, WWE Booking, His Health, Taking A Break & More

Here’s a video of CM Punk’s Wizard World Q&A in Portland, Oregon this past weekend:

People are going to say what they want, but I think the Royal Rumble match was the last match we’ll ever see CM Punk wrestle. He says when he’s done, he’s done. I don’t think this is similar to when Steve Austin walked out in 2002 and then wrestled The Rock at WrestleMania 19. Although, I would like to see CM Punk come back next January and then challenge Cena to One. More. Match. at WrestleMania 31. But I doubt it’ll happen and I think we’ve seen the last of Punk. But good for him. He won’t stand the tyranny and won’t settle for anything less than he feels he deserves.

EDIT: I will give him props, however, for handling the situation better than Steve Austin did in 2002.

      1. He did this already once in 2011 for a storyline.

      2. Him leaving is a great thing. Maybe now that Daniel Bryan, Dolph Ziggler, and Bray Wyatt are the only stars they have left, they’ll consider pulling their heads out of their asses, demoting Cena/Orton/Batista, letting Bryan and Lesnar be rivals for the title, and break up the damn Shield already like they should have a month ago.

        1. Yeah that was a work. This isn’t a work. He’s been frustrated with creative since the fall.

        2. They won’t push Dolph again because the narrow minded management sees his concussions as an issue. Cena, Orton and Batista won’t be demoted simply because the John Cena character has generated $100M for WWE in one year before. Orton won’t get demoted because if he does he’ll just complain until he gets his spot back. And Batista won’t because he’ll be in a Marvel movie in August which is a bigger deal than any movie The Rock has done (thus far). I would say they’re going to push Daniel Bryan but, I’ve been wrong before. WWE won’t miss CM Punk, but the fans will. It’ll be interesting to see how that plays into the future.

What makes this even more interesting is the upcoming launch of the WWE Network. If they don’t handle this Daniel Bryan problem right, it could really ruin the launch.

He says “when I’m done, I’m done” but he also says “a break is the only thing that’s gonna make me feel better”. Wishful thinking on my part, but I’m really hoping he comes back in a year or two. Maybe for WM31 to fight Daniel Bryan!? :)
