Vince McMahon Makes First Public Comments On CM Punk’s WWE Status

CM Punk

Vince McMahon made WWE’s first public comments on CM Punk’s status with the company at today’s conference call with company investors. An investor asked about Punk’s status and Vince acknowledged he’s one of the company’s biggest performers and said:

“He’s taking a sabbatical, let’s just put it that way.”

  • hisfirewithin

    Sabbatical: noun
    1.
a period of paid leave granted to a college teacher for study or travel, traditionally every seventh year.
Interesting choice of words. I think this whole thing is a work still, but I can definitely see where it could be turning in to one even if it didn’t start that way.

    • James Humwood

nah its real if it was a work they would be mentioning cm punk and playing up him leaving like they did during the summer of punk. most likely its just vince trying to keep ppl calm and from rioting lol

      • luke1992

untill raw on monday night after EC

        • James Humwood

Hell I hope punk does come back but I’m just saying this is real but wwe will try and say “oh well it was a work all along” if he does come back

          • luke1992

if he doesnt well riots shall start no doubt

    • Cm Punk’s Grammar Slam

Sabbatical is no longer just for teachers. The term sabbatical actually is derived from the biblical Sabbath which serves an ancient human need to build periods of rest and rejuvenation into a lifetime. Traditionally you’ll find sabbaticals in academic careers, but they are not just for teachers anymore. Anyone can take a sabbatical and travel. A sabbatical is simply getting an extended leave from work to pursue a break. Granted, your company might not have a formal sabbatical program, but you can lead the way in requesting a sabbatical and having them start such a program. You get nothing if you don’t ask.

People traditionally take a sabbaticals to fulfill a goal, build a skill, or do research. You don’t necessarily have to stay near your home to do these things, you can easily travel the world and accomplish your goals; the key is to get away, renew, refresh.

  • Frank Rodriguez

CM Punk is just full of piss and vinegar. He’s like every other high-paid ingrate who has ever made millions of dollars working for the WWE. He thinks the business is all about “him” and what “he wants.” That’s something that Bret Hart had trouble understanding when he used to “refuse” to lose matches. Yeah, that’s right CM Punk, Batista gets to take as much time off from the WWE as he wants to and he gets to win the Royal Rumble and headline WrestleMania. CM Punk decided to stamp his feet like a big baby and quit the business, rather than continuing to get paid well in a somewhat less sensational position than headlining WrestleMania 30. Punk’s character has gotten stale, so of course Batista is more exciting to the fans since he took a long hiatus from the business. It’s sour grapes on Punk’s part. He didn’t handle the situation maturely and wait for his contract to expire.

    • Amrith Bharadwaj

You need to watch the show. Do you really think fans are feeling great about Batista’s return? They are booing him. And do you really believe they would prefer Batista over CM Punk? CM Punk the biggest star in the company along with Daniel Bryan(who is pretty much #1). He left because he took a stand. I hope WWE is well prepared for 3 March when Raw goes to Chicago. The crowd is going to go nuts if CM Punk does not show up. CM Punk is one of the only few guys to actually carry their in-ring personas outside the ring.

      • andy

tattoo fag and goat boy are putzes. orton and batista will rule wwe for years to come.what kind of towelhead are you???lol

        • GIGfriend22

He was not ruling a whole lot and ziggy was going at him…. He almost beat him and Batista was extraordinarily tired after that match alone…. Seriously?!!

          • andy

ziggler is nothing but a nature boy wannab and a former gayclub member.

          • Christopher O’Connell

            And you are a HOMOPHOBE.

          • andy

and you must be a homo.he was a member of the gay”glee”cub you queerlover

          • andy

queers need to die. god hates queers.

          • I Hate You All

No, ignorant pieces of shit like yourself are the ones who really need to die!!!

          • Adam Izzet

HOW DARE YOU MAKE FUN OF THE SHOW-OFF

          • andy

its all fake you putz. whatever vince wants people to see is what these actors do. when they get too big for their britches and try to rule they get slapped down. use the brain god gave you or if you dont have 1 try getting 1

          • Michael Rubin

its not fake, you are misinformed its preplanned there is a difference

          • I Hate You All

So you think it’s all fake? Please, spend 5 minutes with me and I guarantee you I’ll change your entire opinion, because you’d be crying and begging for me to stop inflicting more pain and suffering than you’ve ever felt before in your entire life!!! Anyone else here who thinks it’s fake, you’re more than welcome to spend some time with me as well. I’m not hard to find either!

        • John

Message boards don’t make you bulletproof, man. You’ve got to be the most ignorant, rude, racist and biggot I’ve ever seen on opinion based web pages like this. Everybody else on here (and the rest of the world) are REAL human beings. You can’t have a single conversation on here with calling somebody a fag or homo or towelhead, etc. Yet, I bet you’re the first person to flip out when somebody drives past you on the interstate and gives you the middle finger. Only ignorant people that don’t have anything else intelligent to say, rely on such offensive and hurtful terms. You don’t HAVE to exercise your first amendment right all the time just because you have a faceless picture on a message board. Something you say that might seem small to you could devistate the person reading it. Even to the point of suicide. What you’ve repeatedly done is the definition of cyber bullying. Sometimes, silence is golden. The proof to everybody on the board of how immature you are relies solely on what your reply (or lack of one) is. Now please, continue the heated debate over CM Punk, but be grown and respectful about it. Please!

          • andy

but i bet if it was paul heyman youd be bashing him. its clowns like you that actually believe this shit is real that makes me say what i say.punk and goatboy are just whiney little douche bags that think they are above the rest.never heard flair whine when he was getting used or not in the limelite.face it pal you back meely mouse whiners.eiter 1 of these may have talent but its being a man and not crying that makes a champ and these 2 arent in the same league as batista, orton, hhh,or hbk. i never really liked hbk but he conducted himself like a man

          • abishai

well you say that everyone else can’t see whats going on and that we all believe that its fake, and then you say orton and batista are in a league above than bryan or CMPunk. oh and you also say that you don’t like hbk but like him only coz of the way he conducts himself! Well then you know nothing about wrestling and don’t know what is fake and what is not in the business. HBK is the greatest wrestler of all time! Not coz he won so many matches at wrestlemania (he didn’t win most), but coz no one else can perform the way he does especially at wrestlemania. He is the guy that has the most number PWI Match of the year awards and most 5 star matches. Bastita has none! And he is often sloppy in the ring and botches so many moves especially since after he returned. No matter what the result of a mtach is, it is HBk who walks out being talked about coz of the match quality even though he may loose. CM Punk and Daniel Bryan are way better performers in the ring than Batista. well i like orton’s wrestling but his lack of promo skills and getting over with the crowd is what is turning fans away from him. And CM Punk may have earned millions…but he earned every single penny of it when no one in the WWE wanted him to be the top star. So in my opinion he is just standing for himself. And currently Daniel Bryan is by far the best wrestler in the WWE, still no where close to HBK in my opinion.

          • andy

a real champ looks like a champ not a goat. as far as hbk being best performer 1 of the but not the its all opinions. flair made wresting worth watching seeing he was the original mike worker. hogan made wwf. when i see clowns like punk and goatboy and see people like you actually believing they could realistically beat orton and batista it just shows me how dillusional people can be

          • abishai

See its the same opinion that you have for which CM Punk left WWE and Daniel Bryan is not a champ. They don’t “look” like champs. And why are you connecting it to real life fights?? You know its fake. In reality I don’t know who would beat who. For real fights there is UFC. This discussion was for the sports entertainment show. Plus one shouldn’t under estimate anybody. Shawn Michaels being one of the smallest guys in the business was a big bully backstage. He even scared guys like Vader. And anyway pro wrestling is all about executing moves by not hurting the opponent in reality. In all those terms the names i mentioned are the best. Oh and i agree on ric flair, he was really cool…and hogan indeed made WWF, but his issues etc is another discussion completey.

          • Michael Rubin

ITS NOT FAKE PEOPLE GET CONSTANTLY HURT IF IT WAS FAKE THAT WOULDNT HAPPEN,ITS PREDETERMINED BIG DIFFERENCE

          • Michael Clark

            Michael
I really hate to break your heart. Let’s put it this way. It’s not fake, it’s rehearsed. How can someone jump off the top rope on someone else and still get up and walk away? C’mon man! Think about it. The wrestlers know how to jump, land, take a hit and so on. If you pay close attention you will notice “The guy on the floor” getting ready for the “guy on top” (NO PUN INTENDED) land on him or her for that matter. I have been to several live matches. TV does not do justice when you see these guys wrestle. Yes it’s great “entertainment” and that’s all it is. Sometimes they get out of hand and sometimes accidents happen, but not too often. So, think about it.
            Regards.

          • Michael Rubin

YOU ARE WRONG ITS NOT ALL REHEARSED,WHEN THEY FFALL IT STILL HURTS OYU ARE MISINFORMED

          • andy

wah wah.boo hoo hoo. i cant be in pipers pit

          • Michael Rubin

you are an asshole who has no respect for the sacrifices these men and women give for our entertainment!

          • andy

theres where you are wrong. they are entertainers and it is my 1st amendment right to back the bad guys. its pussies like you that have made our country week.

          • Michael Rubin

They are athletes too and you are wrong!

          • Voice of Reason

Michael, you’re a MORON. It’s “made our country weak”, you illiterate baboon. By the way its one big show, they play fight, then they go grab a bite to eat together. You thinking that any of them are actually beating each other, in a fight that is rehearsed, makes you an even bigger MORON. Just Shut Your Mouth.

          • andy

i knew there had to at least 1 intelligent guy in the backround.lol

          • I Hate You All

Perhaps you’d preferred cleaning shit out of toilets instead, because it seems to suit your personality just fine!

          • Michael Rubin

INJURIES HAPPEN CONSTANTLY YOU DONT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT

          • Michael Rubin

they rehearse certain spots not the whole match sure they don’t try to kill each other I know that, but especially in the oldschool days matches became like street fights its more real than oyu or any one believes

          • andy

you 5 year olds are so naive

          • Michael Rubin

iam not five iam ten,lol iam entitled to my opinion just like oyu are opinions are like assholes everybody has got one and some are one

          • andy

            some more than others.

          • I Hate You All

No you are three years old!

          • Michael Rubin

and you are a narrow minded prick whats your point?

          • Mick

HEY DUMB ASS THE UFC IS FIXED

          • Nick Bassett

Dude really you can’t say smaller people can’t beat biggee people. Royce Gracie was one of the best fighters in real life but he definitely wasn’t the biggest. Chris Jericho beat goldberg up backstage when wcw was big and yes that was a real fight.Bruce Lee wasn’t the biggest guy but could beat people bigger them him. You must have a size complex or something. Size isn’t everything.

          • andy

all i know is i want a dude that cleans up being the so called role model.punk and goat do not clean up well. watch the hof inductee ceremoney. you will see who looks like a champ. in the past even the so called heels clean up .besides in reality its all our opinions.

          • Nick Bassett

So it’s about looks now, who looks good not who goes out and does the better job? Not everyone has to fit into this world that is about looks or size. Not all role models look great or are cleaned up well as you put it. Role models help people become better people, not through how they look but by how the act and the things they do. You must be young and sold that looks are everything but sadly you are mistaken and mislead in this world. You are right though it is all opinions but yours won’t be taken seriously if you think a role model is about looks and not actions.

          • andy

dude im old enuff to be your dad. i back the heels not the so called favorites.only way i back a fav is if they won my respect as a heel. there are heels i despise no matter what and favs that turn that i hate. its people like you that are dillusionel and only like the goody 2 shoe packers that i despise.rewatching monday nite raw and see if you can agree that the best 4 way match that should take place sunday is orton vs batista vs hhh vs lesner. 4 so called heels that are just down and out brawlers. oh and 3-4 can wresler.

          • Chris Kenyon

You back the heels even if they suck?

          • andy

my heels dont suck thats the thing. but clowns who back the goody2 shoe pussies when they blow?????bet you are a republican as well.lol

          • I Hate You All

Wow nice comeback. Where did you learn that at? The Don Rickles school of sarcasm? I think not!

          • andy

at least i dont suck goatboys dick like you

          • skeletor

I totally agree with you man. I feel the same way. I actually hate when Heels turn to a face the all of a sudden they act like boy scouts. I wish they would retain the attitude even if fans like them. I also hate how randy Orton suddenly acts like a wimp just because he is supposed to be a heel. why cant he retain his same character?
oh and that 4 way you mentioned ….It would be Awesome.

          • andy

i think they are going to turn orton back to a good guy. he may be the knew flair.in rics day he flipped so much he looked like a pancake. glad to see there is another intelligent person on this site.loland yes i do think the 4 i named could be the next horsemen.and let flair be the manager.lol

          • Lois Bounds Cole

I do admit, I hate when they turn heels into face’s, then they turn pussy. I like the shield storyline right now. As long as they keep them the bad ass Hounds of Justice that they have always been. But if they turn them soft…it’ll ruin the whole thing

          • truthfully speaking

Orton was the great one when he was solo punt kicking everyone and had that ruthless attitude, Batista sorry to put it this way but he left he should have worked his way back in, HHH needs to make up his mind in or out he’s stealing time from other great superstars, CM Punk is the man I love that he stood up for wwe fans cause it’s not cool to just bring someone back and then they’re headlining or next big event, CM Punk didn’t just become a favorite he earned it by taking his lumps, Daniel Bryan is awesome too he brings his own energy with the yes movement and come on be forreal he’s a excellent tactician in the ring, those or the facts for you no need for us tobe rude with one another.

          • Abe Reeve

            They’re not facts…

          • Lois Bounds Cole

Some people do make really good heels, but to back nothing but heels…..dude, if that’s what you teach your kids, that what they do is ok, that’s kind of a sociopathic attitude. Differences do make us all go round, and that’s your opinion. But just keep it real.

          • andy

this shit all started cause 1 clown thinks goatboy is the greatest human alive. lol

          • I Hate You All

            I seriously doubt you’re older than 12!

          • Lois Bounds Cole

Actually, you’re wrong. WWE won’t allow a champ who can’t work a mic. It’s never been about looks. Gorilla Monsoon, The Big Show, Mankind, Bob Backlund, Yokozuna, Randy Savage, (talk about a wild beard), Sgt Slaughter, Andre the Giant, The Iron Sheik, Superstar Billy Graham, and that’s just the WWE world Heavyweight champions. It’s not about what they look like, it’s about crowd participation, they’re abilities in the ring, and if they can work a mic. If they don’t have verbal skills, they have short lived careers.

          • reggymack

Nick You made some great points but the situation between Jericho and Goldberg was not even a fight. Jericho manage to get Goldberg in a move/hold and it was broken up real quick. Jericho stated that he was holding on for dear life and left as soon as they were broken up because he thought he was going to get killed. Goldberg knows marshal arts, MMA, and is naturally strong. He can be a dangerous dude if he want to.

          • Pieter allen Master Blue

it is not that a fighter will but the will of a fighter and that has no physical size requirements

          • Michael Rubin

its called delusional and guys like punk and bryan are more talented than Orton and batista imo

          • andy

spelling isnt important and neither is your opinion. orton had talent maybe batista doesnt but he could thrash either tattoo fag or goatboy in a heartbeat

          • Nikki

Andy you are a spastic mate the fact you are saying your are a grown man but referring to daniel bryan as goat boy and cm punk as tattoo fag like a child would do and struggling to string together a sentence that makes sense and is spelt correctly proves that you are not entitled to an opinion you retard go crawl back into your cave

          • andy

bet you are a carpet muncher.as far as my spelling i got 100s when i was in school . now since i deal with fuckheads like you i spell things wrong just to fuck them offff. how bout that muncher?

          • I Hate You All

Wow your comebacks are as weak as your less than stellar spelling abilities!!

          • skeletor

totally agree. I cannot stand seeing skinny goat boy with his stupid yes /no chant.in the 80′s he would be a jobber and nothing else.

          • I Hate You All

Spelling is indeed very important, because poor grammar merely makes you come across as weak and pathetic, which we all knew you already were to begin with!

          • I Hate You All

            Please, just kill yourself!

          • Michael Rubin

you are a very disturbed person to write something like that to someone you dont even know

          • Bulldog AOH

Flair was a great entertainer but couldn’t do half the things a Daniel Bryant can do Batista gasping for air cardio so far gone is a joke he wont be here too long.
If it wasn’t what Flair could do on the mic he probably wouldn’t ever made it out of the shower rooms, and I am a big Flair fan but maybe you should deffinitely get the WWE network and research some things before you open up your mouth about things you think you know about.
There were so many wrestlers that hated Flair and wanted to beat the shit out of him but weren’t aloud because of their jobs would of been lost, he’s a nasty person but he shows in you and your comments he’s the movie wrestler that can’t retire because he can’t live without the ring and he’s too broke to live like it either.

          • Michael Clark

            Bulldog
I have to agree with you wholeheartedly. I have met Rick Flair in person at the Spartanburg Auditorium in S.C. The wrestlers were charging for their pictures and autographs ranging from $10.00 to $75.00 PER PICTURE!!!
Guess who was charging $75.00 per picture? Rick Flair!! Furthermore, his Manager would not allow people to take pics of Rick while he was signing and posing. I guess you may be right by saying he’s broke. Charging $75.00 for his pic and autograph is unheard of. Maybe I will start charging $50.00 for my mug and scribble.L.O.L.

          • andy

i played golf with flair in the 90s in wheeling and he didnt charge me for an auto. as far as yours…..you would have to pay people a million just to look at it.lol

          • Michael Clark

            HA HA HA
Good one. You got me. L.O.L

          • Mick

and worth EVERY PENNY , IT IS WELL WORTH IT!!, IF YOU DON’T GET A LIFE, JERK

          • I Hate You All

Go back to kindergarten you loser! Oh wait, you never actually graduated from there in the first place!

          • Lois Bounds Cole

Ric Flair is a bad ass MF!! Coming back from a plane crash, breaking his back when he was younger, and becoming the man he was and is today! That make him a true legend, and one tough SOB

          • andy

            exact

          • andy

try watching early flair matches. he used alot of wresting moves in his younger days and yes if he had to played dirty. i would take a flair figure 4 over a so called facelock anyday and have.

          • Scott

Your about as intelligent as the stupidest person alive. Your nothing but a little punk kid, typing behind a computer. Even a blind man know’s that Dave Batista can’t wrestle, hell he couldn’t even make it in MMA he couldn’t even make it to the minor league’s in the MMA business. Plus you keep referring to Ric Flair and yes he’s one of the greatest of all time but even Flair himself has said HBK is the best of all time. Try actually knowing about wrestling and life for that matter before posting like a picked on teenager trying to be tough on the internet. I bet you get called all of those names on a daily basis don’t you lol. Hell I bet you get an ass kicking on a daily basis and if not you need one. As far as you having kid’s don’t worry a goat wouldn’t even fuck you moron…..

          • andy

and your iq is less than 1 you fuckhead. you are the 1 hiding behind a pc. its fudgies like you that root for goatboy who btw is getting stripped of the title. i am a adult which is more than you by far.and quit hiding behind other polesmokers like yourself. fukin jerkoff

          • tkdchick

Just have to correct one thing here: Batista gasps because he has asthma.

          • andy

shows you have no life and have to pay to see wwe.lol. its clowns like you that keep macmahon in the billionaire club.lol

          • scott

oops bet you feel like a goose

          • Brian Howell

Daniel Bryan sucks only reason hes got a job in wwe is because Shawn talked triple h into it…..if Bryan was in tna he’d be what he really is a mid carder but now wwe just made him their number 1 guy hes like cena beat on whole match pulls out his 3 moves and wins but unlike cena the dope has NO MIC SKILLS

          • John Russell Jones

            yeah right

          • Bulldog AOH

Andy can you tell the difference between what is real and what is not???
The remarks as ugly as you have made them incredibly pathetic as well are real the wrestling business and all matters are for entertainment.
But those remarks show that you are a ugly little person who thinks its ok to push and bully people either by in person or as you have chosen faceless spineless hurtful way good luck with your narrow minded life we all know where your life is heading. By the way don’t pack much you won’t get cold or be in need haha hope thats not to much for you to understand.

          • andy

i should have known to get involved with a bunch of pea brained morons that even think this shit is half real. all a bunch of pole smoking fudgepackers that love the little pansies . just like batista said last night guys like goatboy are heroes cause you are all a group of pencil neck geeks that live thru him. if you are going to live thru a public figure/sports figure make it someone who actually looks like something other than a twig.

          • I Hate You All

Please allow me to put you in any type of submission hold, and I promise you’ll find out just exactly how real it is, you fucking worthless excuse for a human being!!!

          • Michael Clark

            All
I fully understand everybody’s frustration with wrestling, whether or not is fake, rehearsed or real. However, can’t all of us have a CIVILIZED discussion without any insults or derogatory names?
People, we are adults. PLEASE behave as such.
There is a time and place for everything in life. This is not the time or place to behave as children. Please think about it.
            Thank you.

          • Ahmed Hussain

I agree john! Daniel Bryan and his yes chanting along with the dumb crowd chanting behind him is getting old, and I also agree about cm punk. Batista is more intriguing than both of them and Bryan jut reminds me of a pest that appears so wildly. I don’t understand the booing going on towards Batista. Right now he’s my favorite wrestler bc he’s the most interesting wrestler . Hope he sticks around for a while

          • andy

            kudos,

          • Chris Kenyon

When has Daniel Bryan cried and complained? His whining is part of the storyline. He works hard and is one of the best wrestlers in the business. So how is he a putz? Logically speaking?

          • andy

            cries everyday. born whiner

Really the worst thing about this Andy thing isnt even his attitude, its the fact that he may have kids who may oneday impact mine, The odds are small, but thats still a dam shame just thinking about it.

‘Tis an internet attitude. It is no reflection of reality. I advise you actively act upon it, as opposed to aimlessly airing your grievances. Speak to the chap himself, out of decency if nothing else.

hafta write what morons understand. its called appealing to the audience you cumlicker

          • Tom

have you ever been the driver of the 18 wheeler someone threw themselves in front of? I know someone who has had that experience. Trust me fuckwad, its nothing to poke fun of. Next time, chose your words carefully, ass hole.

          • I Hate You All

If you’re going to insult someone, at least take the time and put in enough effort to properly spell whatever irrelevant verbiage crosses that feeble little mind of yours, you fucking tool!

          • andy

you really are a fuckhead above all other fuckheads.lolgo pull your pudd like goatboy

          • Abe Reeve

Perhaps you ought to remark that, to he that intends to provide a life lesson.
In fact, although I do not do so myself, is the point of insulting as on such sites, not to prove that one is not worth your time. See the use of the term ‘insult’.

          • I Hate You All

How about you catch AIDS and die instead?

          • andy

you would be the 1 with aids seeing you are a polesmoker.

          • Abe Reeve

That’s quite the disreputable remark. It may be the internet, though it doesn’t belong here. Frankly despicable, if I may say so. Take a moment to reconsider before this develops. You are stooping far below he who you intend to insult.

          • Pieter allen Master Blue

have to agree with you John well said

          • Abe Reeve

You may well be devastated, if you take such terms so seriously on a quote: ‘web page’.
I respect your point and appreciate entirely, that you speak in the interest of maintaining peace and decency, as I have numerous times in the past, though if I may offer advice.
You simply should not condescend as you do. It shall have a minimal effect. If I may condescend ever so slightly, as you have done, it is as though you believe your perception reveals the intention of the remarks made by ‘Andy’. I am unfamiliar with the man, though if he is the prototypical ‘internet bigot’ your retort infers he is, then he does not mean for you to perceive his use of language as you do.
It is mindless – lacking thought and lacking intention – and thus it is nothing for you to be so passionate about. Devastated is frankly hyperbolic, because the thought of one perceiving such words as genuine is unreal.
Besides, even if ‘Andy’ intended to offend, who would be upset ? ‘Tis not as if Andy knows those that he offends and thus his assessment is irrelevant and inconsequential, much like yours is proving to be.
In reminding ‘Andy’ to avoid internet-based judgment, you do the same yourself, enunciating, that he is: ‘the most ignorant, rude, racist’… person you have ‘ever seen’.
If you are to refer to him as this is such an insulting manner, I advise you not to subsequently aid to give a life lesson, for one, in turn, renders the other irrelevant.

        • Allen Thompson

Well for being putzes they sure have a lot of fans and make a lot of money. I’d have to say that’s awesome. Now how can Orton and Batista rule WWE while the fans boo them? Individuals like the Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin and Hulk Hogan ruled WWE and look at the fan base the three of them had. When you really start watching WWE then come back and comment otherwise you have homework to do.

          • andy

its people like you that do make the wwe what it is today……a comedy act. i watch it and laff more than anything. how can a goatboy in reality defeat a beast???well guess fans can have their seconds of fun as goaty will lose the title within 2 months. now another 4 way will be placed with the beast, the animal.and the viper. and seeing how the champ doesnt need to be involved????what a farce it was. so goaty wins big deal. and maybe flair will come back and win and be 17 time champ at 70.

          • Adam Izzet

Wow this all started with CM Punk leaving WWE
Also Ric can’t return if you’ve watched him fight HBK at wrestlemania
And after Extreme Rules Batista is taking time off the WWE
And the only thing I probably agree about with you is how I want Orton to return to his crazy self from the universe era
All I have to say to all of you is…
            DAMN!!!!!

          • andy

lol. yah got outta hand.loved seeing goatboy get pile driven last nite. surprised they arent stripping title. i think him and the tramp need time off for honeymoon.lol

      • Ahmed Hussain

Batista is so much more captivating than cm punk. Wwe fans overrate cm punk so much but he isn’t that great. I loved batista’s return but was dumbfounded when the wwe booed him. Wtf!! All bc they believe he took cm punk’s spot. I thought about what cm punk did and wondered if it was “a stand” or him being a “me, me, I want this!” You can look at it saying punk was selfish for leaving because he wasn’t given the role he thinks he should get. Daniel Bryan is another guy I’m getting annoyed by with his yes signing and more annoyed at the wwe universe who “yes yes” all the damn time and it’s stupid. I’m sorry but wwe fans seem to be the most lost ppl in the sports fan world. Batista should be the good guy with fans rooting for him. Batista is more interesting than the other two wrestlers. Loved him as the “good guy” back in the day.

      • Mick

Bryan is #1 baby face ……punk is like# 9999999 heel

      • Tom

batista is an over paid lazy as jobber

      • Tom

        booooooooootista

    • Cody Andruchow

Do you know how many times that Punk has been shit on and held back since he’s gotten in the WWE? Do you think it’s fair to a guy or any guy who’s worked their ass off for the company all year to try and earn a main event spot only to see a guy who returns after a 4 years hiatus get a main event spot without earning it? Politics have held down a number of talented stars down in favor of guys they want to shove down our throats and force us to cheer for. CM Punk could’ve stayed until his contract expired but how long do you eat shit and like it? How long do you wait to see undeserving guys get main event status while you are told that your match at Mania will be against a guy who hasn’t wrestled in a year who pushes his friends into main event status and screws the deserving guys over? CM Punk was right in what he did and deserved much better than what they had planned.

      • Michael Banas

How was not honoring his contract right? His job is to entertain the fans not worry about what management is doing. It just shows he can not be trusted. So he did not get his way boohoo. Life sucks, I wanted to be a running back in the NFL. You pick yourself up bad push on. You do not whine like a baby
If a person did this in a regular job he would be gone. So sick of the special treatment athletes and celebs get in this world!

        • Cody Andruchow

So if you get pushed around over and over in a job no matter what that job is, do you continue to do that job? Punk was right to stand up and walk out. How do you justify giving a main event spot to a guy freshly off a 4 yr sabattacal? As for you becoming a NFL running back, I don’t know what that has to do with anything or has any revelance in this conversation unless you got screwed over by coaches who passed you over for a less talented guy who sucked the coaches dick.

          • Michael Banas

You do not walk out. You be a man and suck it up. I wanted to be in the nfl. Im not. You do not always get what you want, so get over it stop whinning. Again, what managment decides to do should not make CM Punk well be a baby and cry ohh boohooo I didnt get my way so Im gonna go home. Screw him good bye!

          • Cody Andruchow

It’s not about him getting his way, it’s about standing up for what’s right. So let’s say you’re working for a company for 10 years, you’re the absolute best at what you do and all signs point to a huge promotion with perks. Then out of the blue, the son of the president comes back from a 4 yr sabattacal from the company and it’s decided he’s going to get the promotion and he’ll become your boss. You’re telling me that you would suck it up and take it like a man? I highly doubt it.

          • Michael Banas

He is not the best at what he does. If he was the Raws rating would not have dropped in Cena’s absence.
Would I stay? No. Would I walk out on a contract? NO! He signed an agreement to wrestle with the company not be get ever last thing he desires. But apparently peoples word means nothing anymore and everyone is okay with it.

          • Cody Andruchow

He’s one of the best. Where do you have proof Raw’s ratings dropped in Cena’s absence and when exactly did this happen? Now you’re condtricting yourself by saying you would leave in my senerio. According to your belief, you suck it up and be a man contract or not. Punk felt he did was right. He could’ve walked out after he dropped the title to The Rock last year but was given a bigger match and one that wasn’t predictable in facing the Undertaker. This year it could’ve been bigger but instead they pissed it away and handed it to a undeserving Batista. He didn’t deserve it and it was wrong to give it to him and you know it.

          • matty

Letting batista come back and enter the battle royal so late and win it was a slap in the face to every wwe superstar not only did they completly overlook everything 29 other superstars did that whole year they sucked the glory out of what is gonna be daniel bryans championship run to me it would have been way more entertaining to see him win the rumble than go on and beat randy at wrestlemania instead of making that nonsense feud between him and triple H that skit made him look like more of a crybaby than cm punk

          • Joe Wolfgang

How many Millions of dollars does he make to be a soap opera star? He is First and foremost a well paid actor

        • Adam Izzet

Cody is right how does Batista get headline wresltemainia after returning after 4 years but…
You are right about the whining thing life isn’t fair and it can be a whole lot worse for Punk.

      • Brandon Roberts

yeah but still not as bad as they treat the divas

      • Frank Rodriguez

There are a lot of superstars who were worthy of headlining WrestleMania who never even got to be WWE Champion. CM Punk should be happy to have even been champion. His character has been around too long. Many of the best performers had careers much shorter than his, and the reason they are seen as great is because their characters never got stale. They didn’t wrestle too long like Ric Flair, Randy Orton, John Cena, or CM Punk. They either left or got let go before the fans had the chance to get tired of them.

      • andy

you need to realize its all a show and punk is in rehab for drugs.it amazes me that people still think this shits real.lol

      • UnlockedMind

idk there’s somethings I can agree on an somethings I cant. cm punk held the belt for a year. an there is many talent wanting there turn. I think cm punk took a stand which is cool. but if its because he’s not in the main event is pretty selfish. there are other stars that want a shot to be on top. an cm punk jus needed to be patient. But like I always say, cm punk is one of the best, he jus was in the wrong era.. he belonged in the attitude era…

    • BI TW

      Hi Frank R.
When was the last time you’ve watched WWE bro?? The fans have been booing Batista everytime he shows his face. I was at the RAW show in Los Angeles and they booed him when he came out to B-Bomb Alberto Del Rio. Batista’s return has been a joke….and watch….WWE is going to do everything they can to make us like Batista. As for CM Punk, he makes a good point about how some guys don’t put in the time and then show up and are put right in huge main events. He’s pissed off for good reason. Batista is not a fan favorite, Punk is….Punk is what’s best for business.

      • Frank Rodriguez

It’s the McMahons who get the final say on what’s best for business, not the fans. The fans are not all of the same opinion about which superstars have gotten stale and which haven’t. Batista took time off to pursue other interests like MMA and acting. His return to the squared circle is a lot more exciting to me, and clearly the McMahons than CM Punk’s character who has been wrestling night in, night out for over 10 years. Sometimes it’s better to work smarter than harder. Loyalty is worth “something”, but when the fans aren’t backing you as intensely as they were 10 years ago, then it’s time to hang up your tights and put away your boots.

        • Dakotah Zenkner

I have been a huge fan of the WWE for all of my life and there is one thing I will never understand, Why is everyone down on Batista just because he tried MMA and came back? I for one I’m glad to see Dave back. I am ready for Mania 30. As far as punk goes I’ve never been a fan, good wrestler, not the best in the world but good. will be back shortly after mania.

          • Frank Rodriguez

I am always more excited to see a wrestler ‘return’ than I am to see a guy whose been wrestling for over 10 years continue to wrestle on PPVs. The problem with a lot of wrestlers today is that they don’t transition into other careers well after 5 or more years of wrestling. Dwayne Johnson is a much better ‘actor’ than John Cena, so The Rock has been able to make something of himself on the silver screen. I thought it was gutsy for Batista to leave a lucrative career in the WWE to compete in much lower paying MMA. He has also not been particularly successful as an actor, which made his decision to leave the WWE all the more ballsy.

        • ABTxDabest .

The fans don’t have the final say, but they have an important say in what’s best for business. After all, the WWE look at the crowd reactions to see how well their storylines are doing with the crowd. It is very obvious that about 90% of the fans dislike Batista since you can only hear boos when he comes out, which is why the WWE have turned him heel and Batista can now generate actual heat with the boos. What you are saying about Punk is wrong. Fans back up Punk now more than ever, they keep chanting his name even though he left. It’s just that the WWE haven’t given Punk an important role for most of 2013 and for 2014, but the fans still back him up intensely. If you had watched WWE for the past couple of months you’d know that. I think your statement makes for sense for Batista, maybe he should “hang up his tights and put away his boots.” Batista was also here 10 years ago, and fans liked him a lot back then, can’t say so much for him now, and his ring work has been sloppy as of late. Punk’s ring work is awesome, and he was very dedicated to wrestling. The WWE not using him in the way he wanted, sealed his decision to leave the WWE. It is not because of the fans, it’s because of the company.

          • Tony Nuss

Let’s clear up all these points. Batista came back because he didn’t like how MMA operated and the fact that he really wasn’t that good, just watch his matches. They should have built Batista a little bit more in my opinion. Daniel Bryan and the “Yes” movement, is it catchy, is it a fan favorite, does the WWE universe love it? They do love it because they can relate to Daniel Bryan he is a great in ring entertainer however he does lack mic skills but very rare do you get to be good at both. WWE superstars back in the 40′s all the way to the late 90′s gave 200% and then some. Is wrestling fake? Yes, it is a form of entertainment, having been in the entertainment industry for a decade some performers don’t log the work anymore. Punk and Bryan they push themselves above and beyond but they still have to follow the script of the crappy writers. Wrestling was about the fans at one point and now it is more about the money and ratings and WWE is struggling as is TNA and MMA. Passion is something that you have to put into what you love, so many people now just show up for the paycheck and not expected to do any work. Some people I know can relate to working 2 or 3 jobs, going to school and maintaining a life, that is real passion that is real work, get your hands dirty a little bit, it might make you a man. As for the government and USA, America is not the greatest country in the world today, we were at one point when we had great presidents but if you try to tell the truth or get a full disclosure you end up getting shot by four snipers as you are riding in a car. People are lazy, the human race has gotten soft, they have stopped being informed and finding the truth out. We are entering in a new era of the world, in which it will not end well for any of us. Militia’s are rising, people are stockpiling, the revolution is coming and they won’t stop it. Now you may say this is wrong or this is stupid or blah, blah, blah, yet it is an opinion and some actual facts as I have a friend who has wrestled in WWE and in the independent circuits. Take it as you will but don’t be an arrogant prick and troll. Do the facts.

    • Shawna Mathews

Frank, you obviously don’t watch the show. Since Batista has returned hes gotten nothing but boo’s all while the crowd cheers for the M.I.A. CM Punk. I can only imagine that if Punk doesnt return in Chicago to our hometown crowd the fans are going to go nuts. Its a work, plain and simple. Triple H is trying, and failing, to bring back all his old buddies and its not working as well as he thought it would. Tell me, if you worked the same job for say 10 years then your boss decided to pass you over for a promotion and bring in someone from the outside instead wouldn’t you be pissed too? Sure its all fake but just because they are entertainers doesnt mean they dont still get pissed about being screwed over.

    • michael gibbons

u must not watch raw much dunbass batista fans are not there hes lam cm punk isprop the #1 ir#2 guy in wwe if u r going to talk shit get r god dam fact staight Battista has been gone 4 yrs with the exception off the undertaker maybe the rock nobody want part time guy taken the soptlite aslo Batista was is not as valuable as he think wwe can take him or leave .

      • andy

christ i watch this shit and at least i know whats real and not. in what world woukd punk stand a chance againt the beast???lesner???orton???get the point??

      • Frank Rodriguez

The WWE was better back in the day when the performers’ careers were shorter. I am not at all excited to watch a guy in a match who has been wrestling more than 10 straight years. It is the “breaks” and “sabbaticals” that reinvigorate the fans when a wrestler like The Undertaker, Batista, or The Rock “returns” to action. John Cena, Randy Orton, and C.M. Punk are old, stale news. Once a wrestler has been the WWE champion he has no reason to complain about anything ever again. 99.9% of all pro wrestlers will never become the World Champion of any major sports entertainment organization. C.M. Punk is an ingrate. He has made enough money in his career to “comfortably” live off the interest for the rest of his life.

    • Laura Crites

I do not know what planet you are from but Batista being the fan favorite not this world and yes CM Punk might have not handle it in a better way but he has busted his ass for what to get screwed over he speaks his mind and that is just him he has always been real talk about being sour grapes look at Triple hhh and Stephanie when they can not get their way the have their goonies come in and beat the talent down what is best for business is CM Punk he is the best in the ring and on the mic and Triple HHH and Stephanie do not like it they have to be the center of attention Vince needs to take his company back because his daughter and her husbands flunkies ass kissers talk about boo boo We need CM Punk back wwe and raw suck they have no idea what is best for business get the old guys out of here I just do not understand any of this

    • jrock2310

u couldn’t be more wrong. if that’s the case, why did punk even show up for the RR? all these guys knew who was going to win weeks before the event. and if punk knew batista was going to win, why even show up for the rumble…. why not take the stance AT the rumble?
and don’t tell me its because he wanted the PPV money. we all know punk isn’t about the money.
punk has taken a hard stance for guys who are now getting a lot of TV time – cesaro, the shield, bryan, usos, kofi, etc…
I don’t think its a coincidence that the WWE is starting to feature these guys that punk fought for. I think they are trying to ingratiate themselves w/ punk in order to get back in his favor.

      • Frank Rodriguez

Out with the old! In with the new! ‘Nuff said!

        • jrock2310

i suppose that explains brock, batista, HHH, & the NOA’s.

          • Frank Rodriguez

Brock Lesnar did not have a long career with the WWE, and Batista was signed to the company for fewer years than ‘played out’ performers like John Cena and Randy Orton, and CM Punk. One of the reasons the WCW flopped is because the fans got sick and tired of watching Ric Flair, Sting, and Lex Luger wrestle each other, year after year, decade after decade. CM Punk had his chance to shine, and he did. He became the World Champion which is something that 99.9% of all pro wrestlers will never be able to do. Punk followed a very bad example set by the Ultimate Warrior and Bret Hart. He got angry at the organization that made him who he is, and he stomped away like a spoiled child.

          • jrock2310

im not suggesting punk leaving the way he did was the best way to handle things. but what punk did was different than the way the warrior & bret left. while punk did leave for a couple of selfish reasons – injuries, storylines. he also left because he didn’t like all these older guys getting the spotlight right during the WM season. warrior & bret were totally & completely 100% about themselves & their image. they didn’t care about anyone in the back. they didn’t necessarily care about the storylines concerning the rest of the show. they only cared about their character, their shine & their money.

while on paper, this situation can look the same, I can assure u it is not.

and punk isn’t bitter over DB, he called for this. im sure punk just wants the opportunity to play on the same stage w/ DB. but no – HHH brought himself & his boys in to highjack WM 30.

      • Frank Rodriguez

First of all, CM Punk could NOT have “no showed” at the Royal Rumble because he was “contractually bound” to be there. Vince McMahon and his lawyers could have sued Punk for breach of contract for millions of dollars. Since Punk was “leaving” the WWE, it wouldn’t make sense to make such a costly mistake as no showing a PPV. CM Punk is currently receiving “no royalties” for his past PPVs because of the way he chose to leave the company.
Second, CM Punk had already won the world title years ago. He was “old news” as far as the McMahons were concerned. Punk needed to move out of the way and accept the fact that his character had gotten stale. Daniel Bryan deserved a push at that time and he eventually got it. There is a tradition in pro wrestling of the top guys gradually stepping down from their pedestals so they can help the younger talent “get over” with the fans. Batista took time off, so he was a fresher face to audiences than CM Punk was. Hulk Hogan and the Rock are also known for their long hiatuses, and it has always been “good for business” to bring them back. CM Punk needs to understand that his glory days are over. He was lucky to have even been given the opportunity to be champion once. Many other wrestlers never get that far. When Stone Cold Steve Austin walked out on the WWE, “that” was big news that had a negative impact on the WWE. CM Punk is no Stone Cold Steve Austin.

        • jrock2310

So punk is not “contractually bound” for Raw tapings? he can just come & go how he pleases?

side note: punk *IS* receiving royalties from merch sales. because he owns the rights to his name & his is still under contract, he (more than likely) receives about $5 for every $30 t-shirt sold at the venues or in stores. which is A LOT! and he probably knew vince wouldn’t take him to court over BOC because vince knows punk is a valuable asset & he doesn’t want to spoil any chance of him returning.

          • Frank Rodriguez

Jim Ross stated in an interview that “because of the way CM Punk left the company (before his contract expired) that he forfeit his royalties.” J.R. would know this because he held an upper management position in the WWE, where he was the head of talent relations for umpteen years. The WWE’s contracts are iron clad. You don’t leave the WWE before your contract expires because the contract states that you forfeit all royalties if you leave before the end date of the contract. Following the Chris Benoit murder/suicide, the WWE withheld payment of all royalties to all of Benoit’s heirs. His living son David is still sore about that, but that’s the way it is at the WWE. I’m not saying Vince McMahon is the most honorable person, but the contracts his lawyers have drawn up for the talent to sign are more favorable to Vince than they are to the performers.

          • jrock2310

            No.

          • Frank Rodriguez

You just say “No” but you don’t explain your answer. I can at least offer proof of what I’m saying. What can you offer proof of? Point #1, that Jim Ross said that C.M. Punk was forfeiting his royalties because of the way he left the WWE. Here is the direct quote from J.R. “If a talent breaches their contract, which can occur for a variety of reasons, they forfeit their future royalties. The company has the right to exercise that clause if they so choose as the talent have agreed to those terms upon signing their contracts.”

Point #2, that David Benoit is “still” not receiving royalties because of his dad’s murder/suicide.

dude, you’re missing the point… since punk owns the rights to his name, he gets a percentage of anything sold w/ his name on it, contract or not. if WWE wants to negate punk of his share, then they would need to stop selling his products all together. but they wont because they get an even large portion.
in the case of *most* WWE superstars, they do not own the rights to their name.

I promise you, and I cannot stress this enough, punk had the name since he was wrestling in garbage cans. there is no way he went into contract negotiations and relinquish the only thing that gives him power in negotiations. therefore, if this sort of thing ever happened, he would be secure and could go to other companies w/ his name after his ‘show-cause’ of his contract runs out.

but take someone like seth rollins…. if he did the same thing punk did and walked out, then he would NOT be eligible for royalties. because WWE gave/owns the rights to the name SETH ROLLINS. Colby lopez only uses the name to promote and pump the WWE brand.

so regardless of the fact that punk walked out, if the WWE truly wanted to rid of punk then they would void his entire contract & no longer sale his products. but low and behold, they do, because its a business.

          • Frank Rodriguez

At any rate, CM Punk has been wrestling for a long time. It’s about time he gave it a break. It’s time for younger, less experienced guys to get a chance to make a name for themselves. CM Punk couldn’t stay on top indefinitely. Triple H decided that Punk had already held the world title and that the ‘Punk against the establishment’ angle had run its course.

          • jrock2310

I will agree that it was time for him to take a break, only because he was injured and dealing w/ some issues.
but make no mistake, punk is a star in this business. and it sounds noble to say: “let the young guys take over”. but what if they’re not as profitable? and over here is a guy who can still draw a crowd and can still get it done.

take someone like sandow for example… everyone loves sandow. but if homeboy isn’t profitable or helping the machine… than its hard to give him anything more than what he has in terms of merch or TV time.
*Side note: notice the change in his character over the past few weeks from ‘Genius-like’ to ‘costume character, goofball’ type. all this is is WWE trying to help sandow find his niche.

lets not pretend punk is hogan’s age. hell, several active guys on the roster are older than punk. he’s just dealing w/ some things. things w/ his estranged family, injuries, illnesses (possibly anemia), he’s looking to be married this month, and no question he was simply frustrated & burned out on the product.

I have no idea when, I have no inclination. rumors are abound, & fans will guess…. but I still have no doubt that he will return. it may be a month from now. it may be at WM 31. I have no idea.

and no matter who comes from NXT or how good some young up & coming stud is, CM Punk is an established superstar in this business. still very much a top 1-2-3 guy in this company. and, IMO, the margin separating 1-2-3 in this company is razor thin.
and last I checked… punk was STILL #2 in merch sales behind cena. and yes, even over daniel bryan (but this was about 7-8 weeks ago, so don’t hold me to those numbers). and that’s while not being on TV for 4-5 months.

          • Frank Rodriguez

The current management at WWE, Triple H and Stephanie are following in Vince’s footsteps. I think the greatest insult is when a legend who helped build the business gets a 30 second spot in the Royal Rumble like so many wrestling legends of the past have. Triple H and Stephanie decided that it was time for CM Punk to begin to “move down” in the roster, and Punk could read the writing on the wall and that was unacceptable to him. Nonetheless, I think he should have finished out his contract since the WWE had provided him the opportunity to earn millions during his 10-year tenure. By leaving the way he did, many fans will compare him to Ultimate Warrior, Bret Hart, and Stone Cold Steve Austin. These are all legends who helped build the WWE, but who nonetheless stamped their feet and left the business in a huff. The McMahons are the not the most honorable business people, but each superstar should leave the business in a way that shows that he can keep his composure.

          • jrock2310

but the mcmahons are business people *FIRST*

btw… who are these great talents that would be replacing punk? cesaro, adrian nevelle, sami zayn?
im just asking… who is good enough to take punks spot? I think you’re reaching when u say there is someone out there w/ his star power & pull.

its like sitting LeBron james when u know he can play & playing a rookie w/ potential. the rookie, in time, will get there chance. why rush it & risk losing a proven valuable commodity.

and u keep talking about punk like hes 45 yrs old. the guy still has tread on the tires. he just needs a little rest.
look at Daniel bryan now… the little guys just get banged up easier; and are probably not on steroids to help w/ their recovery [the very thing that got orton suspended for 90 days a couple of yrs ago].

im not suggesting talents cant form and grow into something potentially great… but when u have a PROVEN commodity, a PROVEN money maker, a PROVEN star, a PROVEN ticket & merch mover… why would u be in such a rush to kick him to the curve when he still has gas left in the tank? and it not “He’s old he’s 35.” Batista just returned at the ripe old age of 45.. that’s a full yr older than HHH.

all im saying is, lets let this thing play out a little longer. I know I know… its already been 5 months. so what. lets let his deal run out [which is in july]. lets let him get married. lets let him get his medical condition & injuries under control. lets see what happens around summerslam… or perhaps it may be even into next yrs WM.

cause when u stop and think about it… how many guys just up & quit the wrestling business? not many.

never forget… this is the wrestling business. ive been watching the product for 25+ yrs. similar stories have been carried out before. hell, punk just got off a hiatus just over a yr ago where he missed several months. (WM 30 – Payback 2013) see… even he’s done this before. maybe not the same story or length of time, but is still a hiatus w/ a different reason behind his absence.

          • Frank Rodriguez

Sports entertainers are not analogous to athletes in mainstream sports like football, baseball, or basketball. Babe Ruth, Joe Montana, and Michael Jordan had to physically wear out before they began to decline. Sports entertainment has characters and storylines, and sometimes the story writers can’t come up with anything fresh or exciting for a wrestler that has been in the business for a long time. That’s what happened to Charlie Haas who had amazing charisma and athletic ability. The writers told him they couldn’t come up with anything else for him. It wasn’t Charlie’s fault, but those are the breaks.

I was pissed as hell back in early 1991 when the decision was made for Ultimate Warrior to drop the World title to Sgt. Slaughter, since Warrior had held the title for less than a year. I thought Warrior deserved to have the World title at least half as long as Hulk Hogan had held it, but again, it was a management decision for Warrior to drop the belt, not a fan’s decision.
Fast forward to the present, where RVD and Kofi Kingston are glorified “jobbers” who regularly lose to newcomers who the management and the writers want to build. A lot of sports entertainment is political. If a wrestler kisses the right butts, and he kisses them often, then he will be allowed to “linger” well past his prime. Names like Shawn Michaels and Randy Orton come to mind.

We all have to accept that sports entertainment is not a mainstream sport, where the more talented you are the longer you get to stick around. There are a lot of politics and cutthroat behavior between wrestlers. The guys who have “made it” want to hold onto their spots in the company, while the up-and-comers want to take their spots. I’m not saying it was fair to bump C.M. Punk down to midcard status in January of 2014, but I could say the same thing about many other superstars over the years who got bumped down before they peaked.

Hell! Xavier Woods has already been bumped down to jobbing to Alexander Rusev, and he’s been in the WWE for less than a year. Talk about unfair! At least R-Truth got to wrestle for 20 years before he was bumped down to “glorified jobber status.” Xavier Woods is being short-changed by the management and the writers before he’s even gotten established in the WWE. Life isn’t fair, but sports entertainment is even less fair.

          • jrock2310

i really think you’re overthinking this. wrestling is recycled stories w/ different characters. we’re just going to have to respectfully disagree on this.

I just fail to see why WWE is ready to oust punk whle he is on the top of his game, while there is no one anywhere close to a viable replacement ready.

    • Allen Thompson

Batista is more exciting to the fans? That’s hilarious!!! Last I checked the fans are booing Batista and when the fans aren’t chanting YES!!! for Daniel Bryan sometimes their chanting C.M. PUNK. What show are you watching?

    • BrettHD

I just love hypocrites like you. He quit a f’ing job, just 99% of us have quit a job without giving proper notice at some point in our lives. Grow up man.
You know this countries gone completely to sh¡t when average people are defending the actions of a billion dollar corporation as if it were some divine entity, rather than the guy that goes out their 300+ days a year, busts his ass, and destroys his body for the company, while earning them 10x more money than he could ever hope to earn.
But you don’t even stop there. First of all how do you know the exact reason he left? That’s right….. You don’t. Second it’s hilarious you claim his character went stale and therefore Batista was a better choice, when since Punk left, RAW has garnered the some of the lowest ratings in the two month buildup to WM ever and one of those shows actually did draw the lowest ratings ever for the company. I’ve watched wwe religiously for 25 years and Punk is the only guy I’ve ever seen who fans are still chanting for on a regular basis two months after being gone. Not to mention that if his character had gone stale it’s still not his fault when he’s not the one doing the booking and is being forced to recite horrid scripts for all his promos, since they took away his ability to “shoot” about two months after he extended his contract back in 2011.

Seriously, get a life and stop acting as though he’s was in some weird way obligated to ask fans permission before walking away. You’re the one acting like a little baby throwing a temper tantrum judging someone and attacking who they are as a person when you don’t even know what happened.

      • Frank Rodriguez

You’re an asshole. You get all worked up over a fictitious character you care nothing about and then insult total strangers as if you gave a shit.

    • Tom

hey frank, do you work full time? Would it be ok with you if I came into your job, worked it part time, and made a bajillion more then you? Of course not! That’s what part time jobbers like the rock, batista and the beast do. They could care less about you the fan. The could care less about anything but the big buckets for themselves! CM Punk may not have been the best, but he was there day in and day out doing everything he’s supposed to be doing.

      • Frank Rodriguez

CM Punk was at a point in his career where it was time for him to help the younger, fresher talent build their characters. I was not happy 15 years ago when Curt Hennig was no longer in prestigious matches, even though “I” as a fan thought he still deserved to be a headliner. When “management” decides that a character has gotten stale then they either don’t renew his contract or they tell him he has to help the younger talent get over with the fans. That’s the way the cookie crumbles.

    • Celestial Being

Clearly you don’t watch the show. You’re just another person who comments on things they know nothing about. When Batista made his return, he received one of the most lackluster amount of cheers and applause. Ever since he has come back, the fanfare they thought he would receive has been nonexistent. C.M. Punk left because he felt, along with many fans, that he wasn’t receiving the respect he deserved behind the scenes. He has said on more than one occasion that he wrestles primarily for the love of the sport. If it was about the money, he has had more than one perfect opportunity to make a resounding comeback – when RAW was in Chicago and at Wrestlemania. Punk not coming back only shows his determination to be true to himself and his convictions.

    • Elissa Lefeged

Wwe went down when Fuck face and the the bitch took it ain’t fun no more and batista is a bitch and Randy Orton lost voices. Change the lines cause wwe such donkey nuts and the only thing they got going for them is the diva show on e. and they need better story lines. Please get Stephanie and triple duh off. Bring back the fun show on monday. Cause if basketball and news are beating Yall in ratings. Yall Fuck in sucksuck

    • Jason Adams

Like the vacation Forrest Gump’s father took?

      • Y.C.C.L

Not at all. Sabbatical means a rest from work, or a break

  • Steven Simmons

For anyone who honestly feels this is a work, you should look at how WWE treats works like this in the past: not very well. They haven’t mentioned Punk’s name once since the Raw he ditched out on. If this was a work then they’d constantly be reminding fans that Punk is out on injury, taking a break, etc. RVD “took some time off” and they mentioned that several times since.

Punk needs the rest and its clear that Wrestlemania is going to be lackluster for many different reasons. If they can get Punk a month or two off for rest and he comes back rejuvenated, healed, and in better spirits they can maybe have him come back as heel and feud with Bryan leading to a Bryan/Punk iron man match at WM31.

I know I really don’t care about ANY match on this card so far and the title match is a joke.

  • Karan

I don’t give a damn about Austin wannabe.

  • andy

orton and batista look like champs. goat boy is a dicklick

  • Pat Kemmeter

I think Punk should got to TNA, I’d love to see Punk versus Aries… 2 of the best in the business today!!! Not to mention so many other possibilities.. Plus he’s always been about the wrestling, I can only imagine what that would do for their ratings, etc…

  • Brandon Roberts

wwe needs punk maybe bring him in as paige’s prophet who touts the coming of a new diva

  • Augustus Auglstein

If it’s a work I can’t imagine that it would do more than simply damage the character credibility. Punk is too good of a Mic man, and his “pipe bomb promos” are a large portion of his current value to the company, that in mind-this is all suggested to have happened behind closed doors…Hell even Joey Styles shredded the company in a worked shoot and he was a color commentator. So I would venture a guess that this is a real situation. He’s pissed with the way the company is going, which is a more than valid sentiment, let’s not forget Austin did much the samething in the early 2000s. Wwe is really hemorrhaging talent and story quality right now, if anyone needs a sabbatical it’s all of wwe creative…a permanent sabbatical to the dark place where we sent Manotaur and the Gobblediegooker(?). It’s not AS bad as the body of work of one Vince Russo, but it’s deffintely starting to develop the same vibe you had during the last days of WCW. They really need to back Bryan more solidly. The Wyatts and The Shield feud could have been phenominal (matches were the best the company has seen in a hot minute) but they ended it already (seemingly atleast). They also need to stop utilizing older talent, that have been out of the game for years, to try and keep themselves afloat on nostalgia. They can be doing much, much better. New rules for WWE:

    1) Don’t let The Rock anywhere near the ring again. Atleast in a working capacity.
    2) Cena dosent always need a title shot…honestly…horse is beyond dead, and still the beating continues. You’re running dangerously close to completely devaluing the championship…even the new one.
Addendum( The same goes for Triple H, Randy Orton, Batista, AND Lesnar, and most of all Hogan!)
    3) Old talent helps make new talent…period. If they’re not coaching directly they need to atleast take a fall on occasion to help get new talent over.
4)Avoid stale or recycled story, and try to incorporate some new matches, see earlier reference to dead horse.)
    5) Take your talent more seriously

  • Doug W. Koehler

Folks, I said it before and I said it again. I think CM PUNK and the WWE are working on a story. PUNK will come back at Wrestlemania with a group of TNA/WWE rejects and start a new NWO. I am telling you, if they did this it would really create new interest in the stale product. So far for Wrestlemania there is only one decent match. Bryan v HHH with Bryan going on to win the title…okay maybe two matches but only because Bryan will be mixed in with Orton and Bautista.

  • dazpanzan

Listen to all you idiots whining about working his ass off, how he’s been shit on, what he does or does’nt deserve bla bla bla…its a job, at the end of the day it all boils down to his job, this isnt the olympics ffs its a pantomime with knocks….they get paid if they work, they dont get paid if they dont…Who gives a shit who gets to headline what? they’re on fantastic money and they work a story line, who cares if some fans don’t like batista coming back, who cares if some fans hate cena…The belt is just a story line, they work it or they dont, simpla as. If they want to chuck in the lime light and the money for the sake of jealousy on a bloody story line then sod them….We love wrestling, we love the kayfabe but sheez man grow up! when you start whining over who gets what and bla bla they dont deserve this they dont deserve that. They go to work, they get paid…if they don’t like what theyre asked to do then they can rightly F**K off. Bret hart was acting like the belt was olympic gold when he got screwed over and punk is throwing his towel in because his ego has gotton the better of him, this break will do him some good. there’s guys in there who constantly get the shiitiest deal going and just making to mid card is a bonus for them….and they still carry on regardless…..When guys like punk get to the top and start throwing hissy fits they are as bad as the top brass they’re dropping pipe bombs on. Its a business, they do as they’re told…or they walk, same as everyone who works.

  • Brian Kowalczyk

The thing about WWE is everything they do Besides the wrestling, which in fact is about 80+% of the “business”. I like CM Punk but he is an actor and should realize the WWE is how you get into a much better job like acting in a movie.By taking himself out of the picture ruins the free publicity. (Hollywood director meeting ” have you seen this CM Punk ? “He USED to be in the WWE” “Why isn’t he now , injured? “He quit because he didn’t agree with the Story line.”" Oh a volatile one, who else can we get to star in our action movie”? The scripts are well thought out and have to revolve around injuries and time off first then what the WWE sees as a script that will allow for other top stars to be written in. Then based on crowd reactions, injuries, and sales is how the story line progresses. Sometimes its better for business to start fresh stories upon others getting stale to make it exciting and always unpredictable. I judge the best wrestlers by how good they can act first, then how good they can not reveal to the camera’s and audience how they tell their opponent the next move and how real the moves look. I think AJ Lee would Pedigree Triple H to get Punk back in but even she knows you really have to be 100% dedicated to the business and by her dating Punk it will hinder he WWE longevity. The toughest part of WWE is the script because the script has to revolve around 100 different things and has to be written well in advance then rewritten for injuries and other unforeseen factors . Sometimes the best wrestlers aren’t good actors and hence need a “manager” to help with the acting. The Rock was/is the most electrifying in recent years and I’m sure he’s made 10X-100X more money from acting than in the WWE. One acting job could make a WWE star well over 10X more than they will make in their entire wrestling career and Punk doesn’t seem to realize this. But we don’t know all the details either and maybe Punk is getting the shaft.

  • Kea-Kea Rochelle Burton

I agree with Punk, although I love Batista but it wasn’t cool for him to just be placed in a main event while everyone else worked like mules throughout the year and get shelfed! The Authority has this agenda that isn’t taking the fans into consideration, it’s alienating us. Who wants to keep seeing them through their weight around and bully Daniel Bryant every week, I quite tired of it personally. All the favoritism is sickening and looking at Punk’s point of view I would’ve done the same thing! Who consistently gives a company 100%, when they aren’t valued? Eventually, the employees get disgruntled and its all because management sucks ass. TripleH is a wrestler, Kane is a wrestler, and Stephanie is a brat! They all need leadership courses honestly.

Punk was a face from the time he debuted in 2006 to 2009 when he won the WHC from Jeff Hardy and then he turned face in 2011 and then heel in 2012 and back to a face in 2013, know your shit.

Punk , is , very under skilled, the hype as died , he is a 2nd rate performer and very stale, Undersized and Hobo ugly , he can rot in hell , he is a two faced prick

    • SlickStyles

You know Punk is the only person that didn’t make up a gimmick, right? He is an accomplished Jiujitsu fighter, he’s actually straight edge in real life, and he’s about as honest as they come.

  • myfancisheltie

Nah…..ALL of the wrestlers take breaks every year. Some make a big spectacle of it, some just fade away for a few months. He just made a spectacle of his leaving.

  • ben

cm punk is amazing and so is bryan… you guys who say otherwise r complete idiots…. wrestling isn’t all muscle and steroids anymore ok…. batistas return sucked… do u hear the crowd every night no matter if its raw smackdown or main event or wrestlemania or any other previous ppv????? what do u hear the crowd chanting???? CM PUNK CM PUNK CM PUNK!!!!!!!!! the effort and demanding wrestling style bryan wrestles with is amazing and if u cant see that then your a fucking idiot…. nobody else pulls double duty ever like he does…..

  • ben

I wish aj styles would go to wwe he’d make one hell of a impact… but wwe would keep him in the mid card section… he deserves to be a main eventer and a big time player like bryan and punk

  • Mario Muniz

never in a million years have i ever wanted to watch Batista NOR John Cena take the face of this company. a guy like Randy Orton and Cm Punk with the likes of Miz, Dolf, Daniel Bryan, Antonio Cesaro, the list goes on. what WWE needs to realize is stop pushing the same old crap down our throats! We are smarter than that. I can only dream to ask for a spot as a writer to make for better TV… but history does repeat itself (Bret Hart). Will Cm Punk be this generations Bret Hart? I for one am sick of Cena and Batista. bring on the newest talent and let them shine. Next push should be Roman Reins and Zack Ryder… woo woo woo You know it!!

    • Twain Speaks

Zack Ryder is not main event material….

      • SlickStyles

The same thing was aid about Daniel Bryan

  • Nathan Purvis

CM SUCKS , ALL HE HAS GOT IS SLAPPING , KNEEING AND KICKING , BUT THAT’S HOW MOST WWE STARS ARE THESE DAYS AND WWE’S MATCHES ARE WEAK IN COMPARISON TO SOME OF THE WRESTLING CLINICS THAT ARE BEING PRODUCED BY IMPACT WRESTLING . I FOR 1 AM GLAD TO SEE THE ARSE END OF CM SUCKS HOPE HE NEVER GETS A CONTRACT AGAIN !!!V1

    • SlickStyles

Says the guy using a pick of a failed Jeff Hardy gimmick from years ago that he decided to revive because of failing popularity. Willow was a failed gimmick, and it’s cheesy now. At least CM Punk stayed CM Punk

  • AndyisaFAG

I bet Andy is a fat, out of shape, saggy tit old man who could never hack it at anything in life so he leans on insignificant activities and name calling such as what is seen. Haha, a buddy of mine who trains with me told me of this brainless idiot. I didn’t believe that some one could be so ignorant, well I was wrong. I bet Andy has never been successfull at any sport. Andy is a cyber bully, but in the “actual world” andy would never make it as a bully. Why you ask? Well here’s why. My 8 year old nephew could probably beat the shit out of his fat ass. Hey Andy, its people like you that entertain me. Especially when your favorite words are “fuck head” and “faggot”???? Really dude???? Go check out a thesaurus. If for whatever reason I were to ever see you, I would not split your face open with my elbows, but instead…spare your ignorance just so I could laugh a bit longer.

  • alan king

Good for Punk for standing up for what he believes in, He’s one of the greatest talents in the damn business today. WWE needs more people like him and less people like BOOtista and Randy Orton (the most OVERRATED superstar in wwe history.). I mean honestly, thats why the WM30 turned into a 3way match for the main event. NO ONE WANTED TO SEE AND NO ONE CARED THAT RANDY ORTON AND BATISTA WERE HAVING A MATCH. They are both lacking in a lot of ways and there are much better superstars on the roster. lets hope “best for business” means we’ll see the WWE PUSH some other talent and get over themselves a bit. I love Triple H but really, how many times can we have him act like a hard ass and play the “boss” role? That all said…. theres one more thing that I need to vent on…. LESNAR breaking the streak? are you fucking kidding me? why let a part-timer who shows up a few times a year break the streak? they shouldve let it be beaten by someone who deserved it and worked their asses off to get to the top. Lesnar will be gone from the WWE again sometime (because he comes and goes all the time) and we’ll be left with a broken streak and no one to fill the shoes of the Undertaker.

  • Rye

ok, i think i get what’s been shaking you all… well, some people here is the underdog’s supporters, and the others are the people who love the old age(attitude era and 2000-2005 if i’m not mistaken, sorry)
And guys, come on.. CM Punk is a great athlete and also a great Mic man, and Daniel Bryan, well he’s a troll and i can’t argue with that but WWE is trying to revive that Austin vs Corporate moments because they see an oportunity to recreate it again with Daniel Bryan vs Authority storyline. Well, i’m still new at this wrestling stuff but i can see that some of people see this storyline as some lame try to recreate that legendary moment. But, pleaseee people… There are many people that still want to see that moment again, and that’s why they chant the ‘yes’ chant. WWE is making those people back to that time but with new actors on the screen. So it mostly just a blast from the past stuff that will ‘maybe’ recreated again in the future days of WWE.
And about Orton and Batista, well Batista is an old man now no doubt about it, but Orton is still a 5 star performer (or maybe 4.5 in my opinion) because there’s only a few grown man wants to lower their pride low enough to act like a whiny baby(reffering to January-February’s episodes). And, he also still a good performer since i like the way he use his viper taunt, it was nerve-wrecking! The viper still has some to show so let’s see maybe we’ll see Randy Orton vs CM Punk in the future days XD!! And yeah about our so called ‘tattoo fag’, CM Punk.. I still kinda hate him for leaving without any notice but well beggers can’t be choosers…. i’ll choose to wait and see what’s Punk’s fate going to be…
And finally our very own ‘Mr. Dickhead’ Andy…. Look, i don’t know what’s your problem, but you’re look like a ‘R-andy Orton’ wanna be with Alberto Del Rio’s stupidity in 1 package. Because you seem to like Randy and Batista very much… But, in your manner you’re more of a big baby sitting behind computer while sucking your pacifier…. I mean seriously, ‘Dickhead’? ‘faggot’? are you a 6 years old with ‘bullies wanna be complex’? Respect the others man, if you respect no one, no one respect you. And the people whom agree with you… Just because they agree with you doesn’t mean they respect you. They just sharing their opinions that happen to see eye to eye with yours. So why don’t you shut down your computer, suck your pacifiers and start respecting others ok?
(sorry if there’s some mistake in grammars, just learning english bro :) )

  • Rye

Oh yeah, how embarassing i almost forgot….

  • Rye

this is how i picture Andy when he reads my comment XD LOL

  • Rye

Oh yeah, almost forgot, don’t forget your pacifiers ok andy? XD LOL

  • Adam Izzet

I got one thing to say to this conversation and you all heard it before
    DAMN!!!!

  • christopher boyle

If anybody watches wrestling and stops arguing, I suggest everyone go back and watch hogan matches, Batista matches and to a lesser extent john cena matches, they’re all awful! Hogan can’t wrestle for shit, just got famous coz he was big, CM Punk and Daniel Bryan are two of the best technical wrestlers in the last 20 years! WWE will be better with Punk back in it!

AND Sting better hurry up and come to WWE! The only thing that’s sure about STING is nothing’s for sure!!

    • Lois Bounds Cole

Unfortunately for us, Sting will NEVER set foot in the WWE. He’s loyal to the companies who made him. And he’ll retire from there. I’ve always wanted to see Sting and the Undertaker. They came in around the same time, and they have similar styles. But again, the Undertaker is also loyal to the company who made him who he is. You don’t see that much, but you have to respect them both. Hopefully MVP will get Sting back over to Impact for a few more matches. He’s still the best! But damn, he’s 55 years old now.

  • Lois Bounds Cole

i am amazed at first of all, people, it’s a scripted SHOW! And second, Batista left throwing a tantrum. He’s totally out of shape, He can’t even do his entrance move anymore. Little less fight his own fight, that he used to do with ease. Face it, he’s the past, Don’t get me started on Triple H, he’s a corporate stooge now, uses others to fight his fight, not the rebel he used to be. And Randy has totally lost his edge. And I used to love all three of them. But they’ve turned into pussies. The Shield is the faction. And as far as CM Punk, he stands up for what he believes in, and that has never set well with the authorities. Don’t be surprised to see him on ROH or TNA where he can be himself. And if you’ve noticed, he’s dating AJ Lee, once she lost the belt, she’s gone too. I refuse to give WWE one single dime of my money. There shows are sub par, ppv’s are predictable, and there are ways to watch it if you really want to. Impact Wrestling has been more interesting, less ego maniacal owners involved, more matches in a 2 hour show than WWE can put in 3 hours, and a hell of a lot of drama. I will say, I do enjoy Total Diva’s though. Because you see them on a real side. To quote RVD, “I have a mind of my own” and I don’t feel the need to be a sheep and load up the pockets of the McMahons, so they can continue to NOT listen to the fans, put on horrible shows that are the equivalent of bad soap operas with occasional wrestling, and allow celebrities to plug their movies. And I will ALWAYS BOYCOT WWE UNTIL THEY PUT MACHO MAN RANDY SAVAGE IN THE HALL OF FAME!!!!! He made WWE more special than any HHH, Shawn Michaels, or any of the rest, because without him, there would be no WWE. WWE, you’re small minded, and have no reason to keep him out. Again showing, you have NO IDEA what the people want!

  • andy

great seeing flair back monday. doubt he was actually backing the shield tho. guess we will see what the storyline holds.lol. but heaven forbid if he calls goatboy goatboy cause all the little whiners here will turn on natch.

  • dusty ramon

cm punk is 35 years of age and before leaving he had a little over a decade in the wwe…and in a conference interview and question was asked to cm punk what is the deal behind the rumors about your soon to be absence in the wwe…cm punk replied and i qoute…im 35 years old i do love this biusness but i need to rest for a period of time..now if you via internet look up the defintion of sabbatical..is states its a paid period of leave for rest for health and new skils and training ect..plus other defintions for other means and uses of the word…now if we can go back cm punk had injured his ribs on more than on occasion and is past his “prime” in wrestling..just as stone cold steve austin yes his injuirs were fafr worse be he also had sabbtical leave…see after years you age and when your in any type sport wwe ufc fottball baseball basket ball boxing ect..after time your body wears down plus you dont get any younger which is a strong factor..non of us can truely know if the best in the world cm punk will return only two that will know is obviously cm punk and vince mcmahon….now if he is palnning to return it would have to fit the script and he is probably resting to regain 110% of his full potetail…plus even after he left still you hear time to time cmn punk! cm punk ! cm punk! come one idk bout anyone else but if i m home watching wwe hearing that its eventually going to get to me were im going to get my ass up say fuck it time to bring backl the cult of personality.

  • Jose Zarate

Punk is always gonna be the best…all u cena fans are haters cause he does the same old shit and know one cares about him.

  • Irish Mike

Don’t know “Andy” from a hole on the dirt but you talk a ton of shit. This means two things. You have way to much time on your hands and sit around jerking off thinking maybe in some crazy fantasy your a member of Evolution,, with your heroes Batista and Orton,, or ur just a hateful coward and a punk who couldn’t beat off let alone beat someone else. Either way you are a joke.
