What If John Cena vs. Daniel Bryan II At SummerSlam Meant Title Unification?

There is so much uncertainty in the WWE as of late in regards to the final WrestleMania 31 card.

Some of the biggest names in the company have yet to find a place on the grandest stage of them all but patience will have its reward.

John Cena and Daniel Bryan are currently involved in feuds surrounding the two second-tier championships, the Intercontinental and United States titles.

In recent weeks, we say Rusev, the US champ, finally make Cena submit while D.Bryan defeated the IC champ Wade Barrett shortly before it was announced that, at WrestleMania, that title would be up for grabs in a fantastic ladder match.

Nothing is set in stone yet and this is highly speculation but…

What if…what if John Cena faces Daniel Bryan at SummerSlam again but this time, to unify both championships into one?

The whole things honestly sounds really interesting seeing that the Intercontinental title is an absolute curse to whomever holds it. Remember, every single champion in the last few years has lost most of all his matches in a non-title contest.

Rusev has been booked correctly however and was made to look strong but he cannot hold on to that title forever. 2015 should be an even better year for him. It won’t be long until he faces Roman Reigns or Seth Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight championship.

When it comes to Cena and Bryan, this is definitely a good idea for them to battle once again. Their encounter at SummerSlam two years agao was amazing and it proved to the world that the leader of the YES! movement was worthy of his main event spot.

The fun part here is: now they can restore prestige to those championships which have led many great legends to greatness in the past. In this day and age, one is more than enough and should one disappear then perhaps a new sort of title could see the light of days afterwards. A sort of third-tier championship like a European or Cruiserweight belt, who knows?

Having the top two stars defending their respective championships against one another would also put some spotlight on their program. Who wouldn’t want to see that honestly? It is great for business not to mention it gets Cena out of the World title picture and prepares Bryan for his next run at the top.

Something has to be done to revive those titles and this seems like the most promising/most likely outcome. It is definitely something new also. Did anyone ever think John Cena would one day become Intercontinental champion?

Personally, I could see either one with the gold.

Time will tell however. The important thing now is: getting them set for the biggest show on the planet and that’s WrestleMania XXXI.
