Winters’ Storm – The Storm Begins On PWMania

I want to thank Andy for letting me post on this site. I may be new to pwmania, but not to the wrestling world. In my columns I always state my opinions on the WWE. Mostly it’s pertaining to Raw and some of TNA, it depends on what is happening in the federations. At times I might post more then one time a week. At other times it could be a week or two before I do. The bottom line with Winters’ Storm is I don’t hold back when it comes to stating what I think the WWE should do as far as wrestlers storylines and goings on are concerned, the same hold true for TNA. So sit back and enjoy Winters’ Storm……

The TLC PPV has come and gone. If anything it was above average for most PPV’s put on by the WWE. Course it will be when you can use Tables, Ladders, or Chairs for the matches. But, one thing that I didn’t agree with was having Edge become the World Heavyweight Champion again. I still have trouble knowing whether to cheer for the man or jeer for him. The character has flip-flopped so much this past year I can’t figure him out. Hence the reason I don’t really care for him to be the champ. Kane has deserved the spot for so long and to lose to Edge was a letdown. Even though Kane beat Undertaker with some help, I felt he deserved to have the belt a hell of a lot longer than he did, at least through Wrestlemania. Now I know there will be plenty of people disagreeing with my saying this, fine. I guess you could say I’m just tired of how they have promoted the character. So does this mean Edge will turn heel or does it mean he will continue a feud with Kane as a face? Do I care? Not really. I want the title back around Kane’s waist, that’s my story and I’m sticking to it. The other match that shouldn’t have surprised anyone out there is Cena beating Barrett. Maybe it will finally mean Barrett leaves Nexus and goes out on his own to be a power house against opponents, instead of being buried by having to job to Cena. You would think the writers would let the guy win cleanly, but again, it’s all about the merchandise and how much Cena brings in for the federation. Fine, whatever. I just know what I like. Let the e-mails fly on my opinion on this particular feud.

I will say that I was disappointed to learn they didn’t let Daniel Bryan have a spot on the PPV. Well, he was in a dark match, but that doesn’t count. He has the talent, we’ve all seen it. What they should have done was have the Divas match be a dark match and then put Bryan in a match that would have actually been seen on PPV. He is the United States Champion after all, doesn’t that account for anything? Course they did have him go against Ted Dibiase-another letdown if there ever was one. He couldn’t get heat in a furnace. They need to figure out what else to do with the man. I was high on this kid at the beginning of the year, but something has happened where he just isn’t doing it for anyone anymore. He needs to be repackaged, don’t you agree? Let Bryan have a program with someone else maybe even R-Truth….it’s a thought. Yes someone would have to turn heel, why not Truth? I don’t think anyone would see that coming. Or have Kofi Kingston come over from Smackdown and turn heel and go against Bryan for the title, it’s just a thought.

Speaking of Kofi Kingston, it brings me to the Intercontinental Title match at the PPV. It definitely wasn’t boring. I don’t know what Dolph is doing to continually win and keep the belt, but it must be something big. I was really thinking that Jack Swagger was going to squeak out a win and have the title around his waist at the end of the match. Wrong on my part. I take it for what it’s worth and will forever scratch my head and wonder why Ziggler has the title.

Titles and tag teams are what I need to address now. As you know, Santino and Kozlov are still the tag team champs-although they won by disqualification. But a win is a win, right? I didn’t think they were going to lose the title anyways. It’s good to see Santino getting his time with a belt, I like the guy I really do. Maybe with what happened at the PPV, this sets up some kind of a feud between San/Koz and Nexus (not just 2 guys, but the whole team). And maybe this time if this would be the case, Nexus could have any of their members be part of the tag team at anytime during the matches that could take place. This would further the possibility of San/Koz dropping the belts to Nexus, but somehow keep holding onto it until Wrestlemania. At least it’s something a little different and would help me to start to care about the division again, well just a little bit. Speaking of tag teams, there was the Divas match with Phoenix/Natalya vs. Laycool…..whatever. You know where this match should have been placed on the card, nuff said.

Now that John Morrison is the number one contender for the Heavyweight belt, do you actually think that the WWE has enough faith in the man to let him win? I don’t. Sure he’ll get lots of close calls, but in the end, he won’t get the job done. I would rather see a Sheamus/Miz/Morrison triple threat match if anything. I like Sheamus way more than Morrison. In the long run, I don’t see either one of these guys winning the title from Miz though. It would make for a fairly good match at the Royal Rumble if done. No, I see Miz holding onto the title until at least Wrestlemania, hopefully longer, but with the way the writers are for the WWE, I can hope all I want cause they will screw this up sooner than later. I’m pulling for Miz to have this title for a long time to come, but I’m willing to bet, they will somehow have Cena be put into the title picture once his feud with Barrett is over. So my guess right now will be Cena vs. Miz at Wrestlemania with Cena winning the damn thing. I hope I’m wrong though.

After all the events of the TLC PPV, I will be under the impression that Nexus will be changing a bit come the next couple of weeks. They made Barrett seem so weak and losing to Cena sure didn’t help to want to keep him as a leader for the group. I still think Otunga will be the leader when all is said and done with Barrett going off on his own to prove that he is a monster. This could set him up to be the monster of the federation and not have anyone but himself beat on the other opponents. Then maybe he will have a winning streak to be proud of. We shall see….

That’s my 3 cents worth, til next time….
