Winters’ Storm-Still High on The Miz

Needless to say I was absolutely ecstatic about The Miz walking away from the Rumble still the champion. It could look as if the WWE will keep the belt on the boy until and maybe past Wrestlemania. Can’t say I liked how he won the thing with outside interference, with Riley and then Nexus and CM Punk. I guess they don’t want any of us fans to think he is a worthy titleholder, so when he does lose it, everyone will just say he was a chump champ and not worth the time put into him having it. I would actually like to see Miz win matches from now on without outside interference. He’s not that bad of a wrestler is he? His mic skills are great and whenever he’s in the middle of the ring yelling at the crowd, they are booing him to no end. Isn’t that what doing his job means? If he’s a heel, the crowd needs to hate you hence the louder the reaction, the better job he’s doing. So I guess if having outside interference is the only way to make the man so hated to the WWE fans, keep doing it, but keep the title on him. I think he’s great. With Jerry Lawler now in line to go for the belt at the next PPV against the Miz, you can pretty much guarantee, the Miz to hold the belt until at least WM. It would surprise the hell out of me if Lawler actually pulled off a win to become the champ going into Wrestlemania. So really the Elimination Chamber PPV is just a filler for the Miz before the Grand Daddy show of the year. That is at least something to look forward to. If by chance they actually give Lawler the belt, I would really have to rethink my options on watching anymore WWE. Lawler is good, but not that good. He could stay an announcer, but not a title holder. Yes I know he was one in the past, but he ain’t cut out of the same mold as the Miz and the future World Champion Alberto Del Rio!!

Speaking of Del Rio, I give my props to him!!! I recall in previous articles that I mentioned  he was one of the wrestlers to be paying attention to for 2011. Lets hope they keep it that way for the man. The only thing I see for him in the title picture is Edge vs. Del Rio. Unless it is changed up at the Elimination Chamber PPV in February.  Either way folks, it’s looking as if Mr. Rio is moving on to Wrestlemania and a title shot. I couldn’t be happier only because he didn’t get the King of the Ring (which I still think he would have been perfect for).  Anyway, at least he is on his way to the grand daddy of all PPV’s, so that’s something. I still love his finishing move, it looked painful when he locked it on Edge.

Booker T and Kevin “Diesel” Nash were participants at the Rumble. The cat was out of the bag pretty much before the show was aired, but it was nice to see them again. I thought Kevin said he would never color his hair again. I suppose with enough money put in front of a person and the right contract, anything is possible. I’m not saying I don’t want to see Diesel Nash again, I liked the gimmick. But the man is almost 51 years old and he has had a lot surgeries on his legs, so it begs a question, Is it only a matter of time before he dislocates something or tears something again and he is out of the wrestling ring again? I hope he takes things slow, but I am also hoping the man is able to put on a good show for us fans. This is more then likely his last hurrah, so it best be a good one. I don’t see him dyeing his hair for just that one time shot at the Royal Rumble and then going to the back to be an agent, he must be returning to the ring to do some in-ring action for this year. Lets hope so. Booker T is still in really good shape and maybe there is a feud waiting for him in King Sheamus. They don’t have anyone else that Sheamus is feuding with right now, so make it all about the King win from now until Wrestlemania. Welcome back guys.

Speaking of coming back, the quick vignette that had the date of February 21, 2011 blaze across the screen on Monday Night can only be one man, The Undertaker. He has had soooo many comebacks it’s crazy. And who else wears black boots and a long black trenchcoat? Well there is one, but I really doubt it would be Sting. He has been so against going to the WWE in the past it would be an utter shock if it was him. So the main person I believe to be the subject of the darn thing is the Deadman. It would be just in time for Wrestlemania and to set up his match to go against someone he hasn’t wrestled before and someone who is close to his size. I could see a Wade Barrett vs. Undertaker match myself. Only time will tell.

Santino and Kozlov still electrify the crowds to no end. It’s especially loud when the Cobra comes out. It’s probably one of the dumbest finishers in the history of all of Pro Wrestling, but you gotta admit, it’s entertaining all the fans. So even though the Tag Division sucks big time, at least we have the saving grace of Santino and his Cobra. Maybe this is the turn around year for the division.

I am under the impression that Cody Rhodes will be getting his 15 minutes of fame extended a bit longer because Rey Mysterio wants to work a program with him. I have no clue why because he has no market value whatsoever. So what if his daddy is the American Dream. Being a singles wrestler hasn’t panned out for him at all. The only time he was ever a “name” was when he was budding around with Orton and teaming up with Dibiase. I give him less then two years and he will be another wrestler on the “future endeavours category.” I myself can’t stand the man. I am just hoping that the Road to Wrestlemania is a good one. The Rumble was a pretty good PPV and seeing what Morrison did to save his butt from being eliminated was amazing. Having 40 guys instead of 30 for it was a nice change of pace as well. So 2011 is slowly turning into a good year for being a fan of WWE wrestling, well until at least the next week when the writers totally mess up what momentum they have going from the previous week. By the way I still say “The Chaperone” with HHH will be in league for one of the worst movies of the year.

That’s my 3 cents worth, til next time……
