WrestleMania Press Conference Closed To Public, WM PPV Buys, The Rock Talks To Spike TV (Video)

– Thursday’s WWE Wrestlemania press conference is closed to the public and will be open specifically for media only.

NJ.com published an article about the business that WrestleMania 29 will bring into the New York – New Jersey area this week. In the story, WWE senior vice president of special events John Saboor said that the event would garner 1.3 million buys, which would beat the 1.2 million buys generated by last year’s WrestleMania.

NJ.com also published an article about investors keeping an eye on the success of this year’s WrestleMania. The article notes, PAA Research analyst Bradley Safalow doubted this year’s WrestleMania would garner more pay-per-view buys than last year’s show, and said that the decline in pay-per-view buys is why investors are anxiously awaiting for WWE to launch the network.

“If you go back to 2005, that was the peak for the company. They did 6 million pay-per-view buys that year,” said Safalow. “Some of the decline in pay-per-view is a function of ongoing trends in the media space. Some of it has to do with the company’s own creative arc in terms of relative popularity.”
