Mike Mooneyham from The Post and Courier newspaper originally reported that WWE Hall of Famer Mae Young passed away early Thursday morning at her Columbia home at the age of 90. She was hospitalized back on December 30th and was taken off life support at her home Wednesday night after being under hospice care.

UPDATE

Mike Mooneyham of The Charleston Post & Courier in South Carolina, who has been reporting updates on Mae Young since she was hospitalized in December, has retracted his report and says she has not passed away after incorrectly reporting it earlier. You can read the newspaper’s retraction at this link. Mooneyham also tweeted:

What a badass that lady was…RIP Mae, rest well.

A fun classy lady who had tougher balls then the men in any generation she came across. R.I.P

:( R.I.P. Mae, I can guarantee no other diva will be wrestling in their 80′s-90′s like you were. Best diva ever, we’re going to miss you :(

  • Melissa

I loved Mae and Moolah. Bet they are tearing it up in a ring in heaven. My deepest condolences to her family.
