WWE Night of Champions PPV Results – September 16, 2012

Matt Striker and Scott Stanford welcome up to the preshow and give us an update on Jerry Lawler. They say Michael Cole will give us an update at the top of the hour.

The Battle Royal to determine the #1 Contender for the United States Championship will be the main event of this pre-show.

The battle royal is a 16 man battle royal.

WWE Night of Champions officially kicks off with the explosive pyro and Michael Cole welcoming up to the show.He gives us an update on The King and says The King will be going home soon.

JBL makes his way down to the ring to join Michael Cole.

The Miz makes his entrance with a mic and cuts a promo on having to have 3 guys.

Rey Mysterio, Cody Rhodes, and Sin Cara make their way down to the ring.

Michael Cole welcomes the Spanish announce team.

Intercontinental Championship Match
The Miz vs Sin Cara vs Rey Mysterio vs Cody Rhodes

Cody Rhodes goes after Sin Cara and the Miz goes after Rey Mysterio. Sin Cara and Rey Mysterio work together and hit several high flying moves before Rhodes and Miz take control of Cara. Sin Cara and The Miz in the ring together and hits an Armdrag. Rey Mysterio is alone in the ring and Sin Cara comes in. They begin to fight after several kicks. Rey hits a hurricanrana and goes for the pin but gets two. All four men in the ring and the heels are in control but soon they are fighting each other. Cody misses the Disater Kick and is sent to the outside. Rey, Miz, and Sin Cara in the ring now and the Luchas hits Miz with a kick. Sin Cara and Rey are now back to dueling each other. Rey goes to the top but Cara hits him with a kick. Cody comes in and hits Cara with the Disaster Kick. Cody goes over to Rey in the corner and tries to superplex him. The Miz comes over and we get a Tower of Doom crash. The Miz and Rey now in the ring and Miz hits Rey with his Impact DDT. Cara comes in and Missle dropkicks Miz. Rey hits Cody with a hurricanrana on the outside, followed by a senton. Cara hits a corkscrew splash on the inside for 2. Rey hits a springboard moonsault for 2. The Miz and Cody are in the 619 position, Rey hits it. Cody pulls Rey away from the pin. Rhodes goes for Sin Caras mask but Mysterio hits a few moves before getting sent to the outside. Cara hits Cody with a kick to the head. Sin Cara pull out a mask for Cody. Miz hits Cara with a neck and backbreaker for 2. The Miz is masked by Sin Cara. A blind Miz hits Cody with the Skull Crushing Finale for the win.

The Prime Time Playa complain to Eve about being stripped of their title show. Backstage, someone has Nancy Kerrigan’ed Kaitlyn and she will not compete tonight.

Daniel Bryan and Kane make their way down to the ring seperately followed by Kofi Kingston and R-Truth who come out together.

WWE Tag Team Championship Match
Kofi Kingston and R-Truth vs Daniel Bryan and Kane.
Kane and Kofi start things off. Kofi with several kicks and a dropkick. Kofi tags in Truth and they used each others bodies to attack Kane. Kane drags Truth over to Daniel and tags him in. Bryan kicks Truth in the corner. Truth tags in Kofi who hits a flying crossbody. Kofi tags in Truth after he kicks Bryan in the skull. Kane tags himself in and clotheslines Truth. Kane throws punches at Truth in the corner and tags in Daniel. Daniel hits his signature kicks on Truth followed by an elevator dropkick. Kane hits Truth with a elevator boot to the face. Kane clothelines Truth and sends him to the outside. Kane and Bryan begin to argue after a double team move failed. They hug and Truth tags Kofi. Kofi hits his offensive moveset and sets up the Boom Drop. Kane saves him from getting kicked. Kofi leaps over the top rope twice and takes out both men. Truth gets attacked on the outside. Kofi gets hit with a dropkick in the cornder. Kofi Kingston tries for a high flying move but fails and crashes to the floor. Daniel Bryan throws Kane onto Kingston and gets the pin.

Winner and NEW Tag Team Champions: Daniel Bryan and Kane

Kane and Bryan begin a dueling “I am the tag team champions” chant.

Booker T is backstage and gives Eve the title match against Layla.

Antonio Cesero and Aksana make their way to the ring. Antonio says Unfair in 5 Languages. Zack Ryder, who won the battle royal, comes down to the ring.

United States Championship Match
Antonio Cesaro w/Aksana vs Zack Ryder

Antonio slams Zack to the ground but Zack is able to escape. Antonio with a headlock, followed up by a shoulderblock. Zack Ryder hits a flapjack and a dropkick. Antonio has Zack on the mat after dropping him on the top rode. Antonio has Zack in a facelock and followed up with a wrestling hold slam. Antonio stomps onto Zack’s gut twice for a two count. Zack get nailed with Antonio’s lifting european uppercut. Antonio locks in a submission more but Zack escapes and hits a facebuster and a clothesline. Ryder hits a roll up for two and then a missile dropkick. Ryder reverses a suplex into a neckbreak. Antonio goes uptop but gets caught. Zack hits a hurricanrana from the top followed by a Browski boot but Aksana pulls him out of the ring. When they are both back in the ring, Antonio hits Zack with the Neutralizer for the win.

Winner: Antonio Cesaro

WWE Hypes Saturday Morning Slam

Ricardo, Alberto del Rio, and Otunga are backstage and called Ricardo stupid for taking off his neckbrace.

Vicki comes out and tells everyone to stand up and show their respect for Dolph Ziggler. Ziggler makes his way to the ring with Vicki in tow.

Randy Orton comes down the ramp to a chorus of cheers.

Randy Orton vs Dolph Ziggler
Orton and Ziggler lockup and go all over the ring. Ziggler locks in a headlock and follows up with a shoulderblock. They both lock up again but this time it is Orton on top and nailing a shoulderblock. Orton hits his patented stomps followed up by several European Uppecuts but Ziggler hits a dropkick for 2. Ziggler stomps Orton in the corner and then uses a neckbreaker. Ziggler with an Elbow to the back of Ortons head but soon Orton hits Ziggler with the springboard suplex for two. Orton with his backbreaker and a couple of clotheslines. He sets up the Viper DDT but Ziggler reverses into a roll up for two. Orton drags Ziggler to the top rope and goes for the superplex but Ziggler fights him off. Ziggler hits missile dropkick for two. Orton and Ziggler trade blows and Ziggler covers for a two after dropping Ortons throat on the top rope. Ziggler goes for his elbows and hit them all. Ziggler has Orton in a necklock and does his handstand, bridging over for a submission. Orton fights out with a back suplex. Ziggler with a flying clothesline for two. Ziggler goes back to the necklock. Orton headbutts Ziggler and then follows up with a dropkick. Ziggler with a leaping DDT for 2. Ziggler goes to the top but gets caught, Orton hits Ziggler with the Superplex. Ziggler and Orton trade punches. Ziggler with the Fameasser for 2. Ziggler block the Viper DDT and now they are fighting on the outside. Orton hits Ziggler with the Viper DDT on Ziggler from the barricade! Orton rolls Ziggler into the ring but Ziggler gets his foot on the rope to stop the count. Orton begins to stalk Ziggler for the RKO. RKO attemption #1 fails and Ziggler goes for the Sleeper but Orton gets out of it. Orton lifts Ziggler into the air and hits him with an RKO for the win.

Layla and Eve make their way down to the ring for their match.

WWE Divas Championship Match
Layla vs Eve

Layla goes for a roll up but get 2. Eve with a headlock and Layla reverses it into a leglock. Both seem to be on the same page. They trade armbars but Eve does a cartwheel and gets out. Layla locks in a headlock and follows with a shoulderblock. Layla dropkicks Eve in the face but Eve tosses Layla to the outside, slamming her head on the mat and her gut into the side of the ring. Eve rolls her in and kicks her and punches her on the ground. Eve is tossing Layla around like a ragdoll. Eve locks in a corner necklock and kicks Layla to the ground for a 2 count. Eve puts Layla in a leglock and a figure four around the neck. Layla hits a DDT as Eve was going for her neckbreaker. Layla hits a clothesline and a hairpulling slam. Layla misses a springboard bodysplash. Eve hits her neckbreaker for the win.

A hype video is shown for Rock and Cena’s DVD

Lillian Garcia hypes WWE’s partnership with the breast cancer prevention people and announces some breast cancer survivors are in the audience.

A hype video for the Breast Cancer Foundation is shown.

Daniel Bryan and Kane are backstage screaming “I am the tag team champion.” AJ is shown backstage freaking out over the situation. Kane says he is going to Disneyland after splashing Gatorade on Dr. Shellby, AJ, and Daniel Bryan.

A hype video for the World Title match is shown.

Alberto del Rio comes out in Ferrari Spyder worth $200,000. David Otunga and Ricardo is in Alberto’s corner.

Sheamus makes his entrance to quiet burst of cheers.

Booker T makes his way down to the ring and says that the Brogue Kick is legal.

World Heavyweight Championship Match
Sheamus vs Alberto del Rio

Sheamus hits Otunga with a Brogue Kick and now Sheamus and ADR begin their opening moves. Alberto goes to the outside. Sheamus pulls him back into the ring and begins to punch Del Rio in the corner. ADR headbutts Sheamus and ADR tries to kick Sheamus to the outside but misses. Sheamus hits a shouldeblock. Sheamus goes uptop and ADR follows him up. ADR launches Sheamus to the Spanish announce table, followed by a kick to the midsection. Back in the ring ADR has Sheamus is a modified crossface. Sheamus gets up but is kicked in the gut. ADR with a boot to the back of Sheamus’ head. Alberto kicks Sheamus arm as it is laying across the ring post. Del Rio gets a two count and sets up an arm bar. ADR goes uptop and lock in a armbreaker against the ropes to the 4 count. Sheamus hits a big axehandle as Del Rio comes off the top rope. Sheamus hits a high knee followed by a powerslam for two. ADR breaks out of the Irish Curse and send to the apron. Sheamus hits his chest punches on ADR and they both come to the inside. ADR counters White Noise and hits a backstapper for 2. Sheamus hits White Noise and sets up for the Brogue but misses. ADR hits his corner enziguri for two. Sheamus goes for the Cloverleaf after missing the Brogue but ADR fights it. Sheamus’s arm is caught in the rope and ADR kicks his arm. ADR hit and armbreaker followed by the Cross Armbreaker. Sheamus fights out and powerbombs ADR. Sheamus misses the Brogue kick again and Del Rio counters with the Cross Armbreaker. Sheamus gets to the rope. Sheamus hits the Brogue Kick from out of nowhere for the win.

Winner: Sheamus

Paul Heyman is in the ring. He puts over CM Punk’s days as champion. He says he is there to support CM Punk.

CM Punk makes his way down to the ring in a hoodie and tights with the Yankee stripes on them. Paul Heyman is in the ring clapping proudly for CM Punk. CM Punk shakes Paul Heyman’s hand.

John Cena makes his entrance to the usual chorus of boos and cheers. He is wearing his “Stand up to Cancer” gear. CM Punk is posing in the ring with the title to stall the match. John Cena’s father is in the crowd.

WWE Championship Match
CM Punk vs John Cena

They lock up and Cena takes him over with a headlock. Cena and Punk let the crowd chant, “Lets Go Cena/Cena Sucks”. Cena with a suplex and lock Punk with with a gutlock. Punk elbows Cena to the head and knees him to the gut before the taking him over with a headlock. Cena hits a back body drop but Punk comes back with a basement dropkick to the skull. Punk with more elbows to the back of the head taking Cena down. Punk poses on the top rope and then nails Cena with a DDT for 2. Punk locks in a necklock. A top toe hold followed by a bridging necklock to Cena by Punk. John Cena rolls out of the ring, holding his knee. Punk hits him with a suicide dive. Punk has a stand off with Cena’s father on the outside. CM Punk is thrown into the barricade and is then hit with a suplex by Cena. Back in the ring, Cena goes for the AA but Punk gets out of it and kicks Cena in the skull. Punk locks in the Camel Clutch. Punk begin to mockingly punch Cena. Punk goes to the top and hits an Axe Handle. CM Punk tries the GTS but Cena gets out. Cena goes for this Sitout Powerbomb but Punk rolls through for 2. Punk counters the 5 Knuckle Shuffle with the boot to the skull. CM Punk hits a neckbreaker for two. CM Punk goes for his springboard clothesline but Cena rolls through and tries to do an AA but Punk gets to the ropes and falls to the outside. Cena hits Punk with a Suicide Dive and rolls him back into the ring and misses the 5 Knuckle Shuffle. Punk locks in the Anaconda Vice. Cena powers out and puts Punk in the STF. Punk rolls through with a Crossface. Cena powers out and hits a sidewalk slam. Punk and Cena begin to trade punches. Punk hits the spinning kick followed by the high knee in the corner followed by the bulldog. Punk goes up top and hits the Macho Drop for 2. Cena counters the GTS with the STF. Punk makes it to the rope and hits Cena with the GTS for 2. Punk kicks Cena in the back and in the head followed by a clothesline for two. Punk bitchslaps Cena, Cena goes for the AA and misses. He hits the 5 Knuckle Shuffle and the AA on Punk but only gets 2. Cena goes up top for his legdrop but misses. Punk hits a kick to the back of the skull for 2. Punk with a knee to the skull for two. Punk goes uptop and misses a moonsault. Cena goes for the AA but Punk reverses into a GTS for 2. Punk mocks The Rock’s pose and hits Cena with the Rock Bottom for 2. Cena hits a quick AA for 2. Cena lifts Punk to the top rope but Punk elbows Cena down however Cena pops back up and hits a Super Bridging German Suplex for the win. However after review, Cena and Punk’s shoulders were down and this match ends in a draw.

Draw: CM Punk retains the WWE Championship

CM Punk leaves with Punk Heyman as Cena is left laying in the ring after Punk nailed him with the WWE Championship.

The show ends with Michael Cole saying “CM Punk, 301 Days and Counting”
