WWE NXT Results – April 15, 2015

Welcome to another exciting edition of NXT, with a tantalising main event, as Sami Zayn makes his long awaited return against the veteran Man-Beast Rhyno!

We begin tonight’s show with CJ Parker making his way to the ring, who will square off against Solomon Crowe in the first contest of the evening.

CJ Parker vs. Solomon Crowe

The pair tie up, with Parker pinning Crowe in the corner, and hitting repeated forearms to the back of Crowe’s head, however Crowe counters and does the same to Parker, who retreats to the outside of the ring as the fans chant ‘Lets go, Crow’ to his competitor. On the apron, Crowe hits a springboard clothesline followed by a suicide dive through the ropes, knocking Parker onto the ramp with some force. Back in the ring Crowe attempts to charge at Parker in the corner, but Parker is able to counter with a huge boot. Both men struggle back to their feet, Parker looking to gain momentum, showing more of a vicious streak with some stiff kicks, followed by a senton for a near fall. Parker applies a headlock to try and wear Crowe down, but Crowe fights out of it, and the pair exchange forearm smashes, before Parker regains momentum with a huge clothesline and a scissor kick for another near fall. Parker attempts another sention, but feels Crowe’s feet in his spine for a reversal. Crowe ascends the top rope and lands a splash on Parker’s leg, followed by the Stretched Muffler for a submission victory.

Winner: Solomon Crowe

A good outing from Crowe, his best performance in his short NXT career, and he grabs a microphone and tells the fans to ‘stay tuned, because the real show is just beginning’.

The commentary team hype tonight’s main event, and tonight’s long awaited debut of Dana Brooke. We return from an advert break for the entrance of Baron Corbin.

Baron Corbin vs. Steve Cutler

Cutler, a former marine, attempts to Irish whip Corbin to no avail, who hits a huge clothesline and the End of Days for another squash victory.

Winner: Baron Corbin

It feels somewhat disappointing that Corbin is still winning squash matches inside 30 seconds rather than entering a more substantial programme. Backstage, Sami Zayn is interviewed, and says that there seems to be a target on his back despite not having the NXT title, and he wont allow Rhyno to use him to get to the top like Kevin Owens did.

Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady vs. Angelo Dawkins and Sawyer Fulton

Amore and Cassady cut a promo on Blake and Murphy before the match, where they reiterate their desire to take the NXT tag team titles. Amore and Fulton start off, Amore hitting a drop toehold and taunting to the crowd, allowing Fulton to seize control with a fireman’s carry, before exchanging tags with Dawkins as they show off their amateur wrestling prowess. Amore is able to escape, and he tags in Cass, who seizes control of Fulton and throws Amore at him as the pair combine with some double team moves. Amore tags back in and ascends to the top rope, but Fulton shakes the ropes and causes the slip, allowing him to take control, before tagging in Dawkins. Buddy Murphy and Wesley Blake come to the ring and each present Carmella with flowers at ringside, continuing to play mind games. Back in the ring, Sawyer Fulton has Amore locked in the abdominal stretch, but Amore is able to fight out and hits an inverted stunner, allowing him to get the hot tag. Big Cass clears house, and hits Dawkins with a sidewalk slam, Fulton with a big boot, and a splash in the corner to the legal man Dawkins. He tags in Amore, and launches him for the big splash off the top rope for the victory.

Winners: Amore and Cassady.

Backstage, Alex Riley cuts a promo where he tells Owens that he was foolish to think that his victory over him was the end of their story, and that Owens painted a bullseye on his own back. He challenges Owens to a rematch next week. Dana Brooke’s NXT debut is up next.

Dana Brooke vs. Blue Pants

Brooke starts strong, and slingshots Blue Pants into the bottom rope before hitting some powerful punches for a near fall. She forces Blue Pants into the corner, hitting some forearm smashes, before applying a handstand submission manoeuvre. Blue Pants counters with some offence, forcing her way out of the corner, however her momentum is short-lived, as the former fitness model Brooke lifts Blue Pants onto her shoulders, and slamming Blue Pants for a debut victory.

Winner: Dana Brooke.

Our enticing main event is up next.

Sami Zayn vs. Rhyno

The returning Zayn makes his in-ring return, and is greeted with a huge pop from the crowd. Rhyno is second out to the ring, and hasn’t lost any of his trademark intensity. Rhyno overpowers Zayn in the first tie-up, the brutal strength of the former ECW man on clear display, and as Zayn tries to apply a headlock, Rhyno pushes him off and hits a huge shoulder tackle, forcing Zayn to retreat to the outside. Zayn gets back in the ring, and hits a huge headscissors takedown off the ropes, forcing Rhyno to himself retreat to the outside of the ring. Rhyno regains control though, making the most of the referee’s 5 count in the corner, with his foot on Zayn’s neck, but Zayn forces out with a series of forearm smashes. However, his is not able to knock the Man-Beast down, and a dropkick merely fires Rhyno up, as he hits a huge clothesline as we go to break.

Rhyno has a rear chin lock applied as we return, but as he attempts a clothesline in the corner, Zayn counters with a boot, followed by a flying crossbody for a near fall. He tries to keep his momentum going, but a big spinebuster off the ropes gives Rhyno a near fall of his own. Rhyno throws a limp looking Zayn into the corner, and whips Zayn into the corner with a lot of venom, then drives a huge shoulder into the midsection of Zayn. He repeats the feat again, spearing his shoulder into the ribs, before hitting it for a third time, which gives Rhyno another near fall. Zayn grabs at Rhyno to try to regain his footing, and Rhyno dismissively pushes Zayn to the canvas. Out of nowhere though, Zayn pops up and hits a frenzied flurry of shots to Rhyno, desperately trying to gain a measure of control, and hits a Blue Thunderbomb for the closest of 2 counts.

The fans chant ‘this is awesome’ as Zayn goes to the top rope, he attempts another crossbody but is caught and slammed by Rhyno for a near fall. Both men look weary in getting to their feet, and Rhyno responds with an angry series of right hands after Zayn slaps him. Rhyno ascends the second rope, but a forearm smash from Zayn sends him to the outside, and Zayn follows him with a suicide swanton dive to the outside. Zayn throws Rhyno back in the ring, but the tide turns again as Rhyno hits a belly to belly suplex and sets up for the Gore. Zayn is able to dodge though, and hits the Helluva Kick for a huge returning victory.

Winner: Sami Zayn

A great match from the veteran Rhyno and the returning Zayn, this is exactly why bringing back veterans like Rhyno is useful for NXT, allowing the younger stars to flourish against guys who know the WWE style inside out. Hoping we see more of Rhyno, and get a few more nostalgic returning runs in the future.
