WWE NXT Results – January 13, 2016

We are in Winter Park, Florida and your announcers are Tom Phillips and Corey Graves.

The NXT General Manager, William Regal makes his way to the stage. William wishes everyone a Happy New Year and he welcomes everyone to NXT in 2016. NXT is the fasting growing promotion in the industry’s history. That is due to everyone. They had an incredible year in 2015 and they have only scratched the surface. The finest women competitors will compete in a Battle Royal with the winner earning a shot at the Women’s Championship.

William brings out someone who has not been in this arena in some time . . . Sami Zayn.

Sami goes into the ring and he has something to say.

Sami says it seems like some of you remember him. He says he realizes that a lot has changed in NXT in 2015. For those of you who do not know him, he wants to introduce himself. He is Sami Zayn and he is the lead singer of the band and the band came out to play tonight.

In addition to that, he is one of the men responsible for building NXT and making NXT what it is today. What it is today is mighty impressive. So impressive in fact that they were able to sell out an entire tour of the UK. As great as it was to come back in London, there is no place like home. Home for me is Full Sail University.

As much as he loves standing here and having you cheer for him and make him feel warm and fuzzy inside, he came here to make an announcement . . . a proclamation if you will. Sami says that he came back to NXT to become the first two time NXT Champion.

Sami is interrupted by Samoa Joe’s music and Joe makes his way to the ring.

Joe tells Sami it is good to have you back. He says he can appreciate Sami’s ambition and how you want what was once yours. Joe wants to know what makes Sami think he deserves it. The last time you were in the ring and had a title shot, Joe had to come out and save your life. In London, at Takeover, the champ said it himself. He didn’t beat him, he barely survived. If you want to keep that shoulder tightly tucked in that socket, you should put that microphone down and walk away.

Baron Corbin’s music plays and he makes his way to the ring.

Baron tells Joe that he normally spits nonsense, but he agrees with Joe. Your place belongs at the back of the line Sami. At Takeover London, he was victorious. Baron says that Joe lost. You had your shot and you failed.

Sami, while you were home nursing your injury, you were passed by someone more determined and durable. As far as he is concerned, he is the uncrowned NXT champion.

Joe says he does not know how many brain cells he damaged when he got choked out in Brooklyn and that is why you don’t belong in this conversation. Joe tells Sami to know his place when he is in Joe’s ring.

Sami wants to know where Joe is going. Sami says his place is in the ring and that is where he is standing. He is standing right here.

Joe leaves the ring and goes to the floor.

Corbin hits Sami from behind and he misses a clothesline. Sami with a Yakuza Kick that sends Corbin over the top rope to the floor. Joe gets on the apron and puts one foot in the ring before he goes back to the floor.

Rich Brennan is in the interview area with Bayley and he asks Bayley how she got out of London as champion. Bayley says she survived more than won that match. Nia brought out something in her that she did not know she had. She knows that she had to stay the champion.

Rich asks about the Battle Royal to determine her new number one contender. Bayley says she wishes she could be in the battle royal. She wishes the winner luck and suggests that she might even hug the winner. Bayley hugs Rich and we go to commercial.

Granted this wasn’t the best NXT ever, but it was better than anything WWE or TNA have put out recently.
