WWE NXT Results – March 16, 2016

Last week, Sami Zayn faced Samoa Joe in a two out of three falls match to finally determine the Number One Contender. Joe won that match and will face Finn Balor at Takeover in Dallas.

We are in Winter Park, Florida and your announcers are Corey Graves and Tom Phillips.

Sami Zayn makes his way to the ring.

Sami says last week he came out here and he didn’t just have a match with Samoa Joe, he says he went to war with Samoa Joe. Sami says he does not know if you have been in a war with a 300 pound Samoan, but it is not fun. Sami says he is not the least bit embarrassed about losing to Joe because they battled for almost an hour. It could have gone either way. Sami says if he finger tips were two inches longer, it might have been a different story. No matter if it is Joe or Finn, Sami says his goal is to become a two time NXT Champion. The only thing that nags at him is that Takeover Dallas will be huge. NXT will steal the show Wrestlemania weekend.

Sami says he feels like a proud papa when it comes to NXT . . .

William Regal comes out and he interrupts Sami.

William says he was listening backstage. He says that Sami deserves something special at Takeover Dallas for all of the hard work you have put in. You deserve to face one of the best in the world. On April 1st at Takeover Dallas, exclusively on the WWE Network, it will be WWE’s newest signee . . .

Shinsuke Nakamura.

Nakamura has some comments about NXT on the RegalTron.

Corey and Tom mention that we will find out the number one contender for the NXT Tag Team Champions at Takeover.

Match Number One: Mojo Rawley and Zack Ryder versus Angelo Dawkins and Kenneth Crawford

Rawley starts off with Crawford and Rawley sends him into the corner. They lock up again and Rawley sends Crawford to the corner and Dawkins tags in. Rawley with a cross body and he rolls around on the mat and then hits a dive to the knee. Rawley with a slam and Ryder with a slingshot splash for a near fall. Dawkins with an Irish whip and Ryder gets his knees up and hits a missile drop kick. Ryder with a running forearm into the corner and then he sets for the Broski Boot but Crawford pulls Dawkins to the floor. Ryder with a drop kick to both men.

Dawkins hits Ryder from the floor and then Dawkins kicks Ryder. Ryder with a face plant and then he tags in Rawley while Crawford does the same. Rawley with shoudler tackles and then he sends Dawkins to the floor with a running knee. Rawley with a Stinger Splash and then he hits a discus slap to the face. Ryder is tagged in and they hit the Hype Ryder for the three count.

Winners: Zack Ryder and Mojo Rawley

We go to footage from the Arnold Classic in Columbus, Ohio.

Emma and Dana Brooke walk in the back and they walk past Deonna Purrazzo and Emma reminds Deonna that she did not listen to them. Emma says that tonight is going to be a lot worse than what Asuka did to you. The EmmaLution cannot be stopped.

Deanna says that she can stop the EmmaLution and it will happen tonight.

Emma and Dana are impressed with Deonna’s attitude. Dana says that they are going to take this seriously so there won’t be a head pat . . .psyche. Dana pats Deonna on the head.

We go to commercial.

Match Number Two: Deonna Purrazzo versus Emma (with Dana Brooke)

Emma pushes Deonna and Deonna pushes her back. Emma sends Deonna into the turnbuckles and kicks her. Emma with a snap mare and kick to the back. Emma stands on Deonna’s hair. Emma pulls Deonna’s hair while in the ropes. Deonna with a forearm but Emma with a clothesline. Emma kicks and chokes Deonna in the corner and then Emma puts Deonna in the tree of woe. Emma picks up Deonna and kicks her in the back a few times. Emma sets for the cross body in the corner and she hits it.

Emma with a knee ot hte back and she takes Deonna to the mat with a reverse chin lock. Deonna with a jaw breaker and elbow followed by a running double sledge. Deonna with a knee to the chin. Deonna misses a charge into the corner and Emma with the DilEmma. Emma sends Deonna to the mat and then Emma applies the Emma Lock and Deonna taps out.

Winner: Emma

We take a look back at footage from the NXT Tag Title Match from Roadblock when Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder successfuly defended the titles against Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady.

We are back and Aiden English and Simon Gotch are getting ready in the back.

Match Number Three: Tommaso Ciampa versus Jesse Sorensen

Ciampa with a drop kick as the bell rings and then he kicks Sorensen in the corner. Ciampa with knees and a running knee in the corner. Ciampa goes for a power bomb but Sorensen escapes. Ciampa with a flying clothesine for a near fall. Ciampa with a reverse chin lock. Ciampa adds more pressure using his weight on the chin lock. Ciampa with a knee. Ciampa with a kick and Sorensen with a drop kick. Jesse with a chop in the corner and he climbs the turnbuckles for punches. Ciampa escapes and he ties up Sorensen in the turnbuckles and he connects with a knee that sends the head turnbuckles. Ciampa with knees to the head and then he applies the arm bar submission and Sorensen taps out.

Winner: Tommaso Ciampa

Chad Gable and Jason Jordan stretch in the back as they prepare for the main event.

We are back with a look at what happened when Bayley defended the title against Carmella and the post match attack by Eva Marie and Nia Jax as well as the appearance of Asuka.

Match Number Four: Eva Marie and Nia Jax versus Asuka and Bayley

Nia and Bayley start things off and Nia backs Bayley into the corner and she sends Bayley into her corner and tags in Eva. Eva deals with the fans instead of Bayley and Bayley with a drop toe hold and side head lock into a front face lock. Asuka tags in and she keeps Eva from making the tag by cutting off the corner. Eva with a forearm and that is mistake one. Asuka avoids more punches and Asuka with knees and kicks that send Eva to the mat. Asuka with a flying butt bump to Eva and she puts Eva in a side head lock. Bayley tags in and Bayley with a front face lock. Nia tags in and Bayley with a shoudler tackle to Eva but Nia picks up Bayley and hits a Samoan drop.

Nia sends Bayley into the corner and Nia hits a splash while Eva holds Bayley. Eva tags in and she stretches Bayley. Bayley with a double leg take down and she gets a cover but no count. Eva with a forearm to Asuka and Asuka has to be held back by the referee. Bayley with a belly-to-back suplex and Nia tries to break up the cover but Nia with a leg drop that connects with Eva when Bayley moves. Bayley with a drop kick to stop Nia and send her to the floor. Asuka with a kick from the apron and Bayley with a belly-to-belly suplex for the three count.

Winners: Bayley and Asuka

After the match, Nia pulls Eva out of the ring.

William Regal comes out again and he has something to say.

William congratulates them on their victory. He says that Bayley sets the standard for a champion while Asuka is a standout in the women’s division. At Takeover Dallas, the number one contender is Asuka and she will face Bayley.

Asuka smiles at Bayley.

Tom mentions Baron Corbin’s match against Austin Aries at Takeover Dallas. We see footage of Aries’ NXT debut.

Austin Aries is appearing ‘via satellite’ and Tom and Corey ask him about his match against Baron Corbin.

Aries says he thanks everyone for welcoming him. He had a lot of offers and he was happy to choose NXT. He was excited until Baron Corbin attacked him. You made a mistake. You should not have attacked him from behind, you should have asked for advice since he has been a champion everywhere. You are insecure because of people like him. Aries got this contract for being the greatest at what he does for fifteen years, not because he was big. You will get a lesson at Takeover Dallas and you will find out why he is the Greatest Man to Ever Live.

Match Number Five: Simon Gotch and Aiden English versus Chad Gable and Jason Jordan in a Number One Contenders Match

Gotch and Gable start things off and Gable with a waist lock take down and he stays on top of Gotch and Gable gets a near fall. Gable with a single leg take down into a knee bar. Gotch wtih a Greco Roman Knuckle Lock but Gable with a near fall but Gotch with a bridge. Gotch with a reverse chin lock but Gable with a hip lock take over. Gotch with an enzuigiri and English tags in and Gable with an arm drag. Jordan tags in and they hit a double drop kick on English and then they send Gotch to the floor as we go to commercial.

We are back and Gotch with a front face lock on Gable. English tags in and they cho and punch Gable to get him to the mat and English gets a near fall. English with a reverse chin lock. English stays between Gable and his corner and he connects with a knee ift and he gets a near fall. Gotch tags in and he kicks Gable and connects with a knee drop and he applies a seated abdominal stretch.

Gotch gets a near fall and then he tags in English and English with a snap mare but he misses a knee drop. Gotch tags in and Gotch keeps Gable from making the tag. Gable with a sunset flip that sends Gotch into the ropes. Jordan and English tag in and Jordan with drop kicks and overhead belly-to-belly suplexes. Jordan with a Saito suplex to English followed by a running shoudler into the corner. Gotch takes care of Jordan and English with a boot to Gable. Gable with Chaos Theory for a near fall. Gotch is sent to the apron by Jordan. Gotch with a kick but Jordan with a Saito suplex on the floor.

Gable and English are the legal men in teh ring and English gets a near fall with an inside cradle. English with a power bomb for a near fall. English shows some frustration. Jordan tags in and hits a shoudler in the corner. Gable tags in and they hit Grand Amplitude for the three count.

Winners: Chad Gable and Jason Jordan
