WWE NXT Results – March 4th, 2015

The show kicks off with a video package hyping Kevin Owens vs Finn Balor, and highlighting the tension between Owens and commentator Alex Riley on last week’s show, followed by Owens attack on Riley. We then cut to Alex Riley talking to William Regal about a match with Owens, to which Regal asserts that can be a competitor or a commentator, not both. Riley retorts that Regal did it, and that he is in the prime of his career, so Regal says he must make a choice between the professions.

The Rosebuds head down to the ring, indicating Adam Rose is first up:

Adam Rose vs. Tyler Breeze

Breeze follows Rose to the ring, carrying his fuzzy selfie stick and seeming perturbed at the enthusiasm of the Rosebuds as they get in his way. The fans chant ‘ninja turtle’ in honour of a smartly dressed Rosebud, and they match gets under way. Rose chases Breeze around the ring before taunting to the crowd, who chant his theme music, but a hip toss from Breeze allows him to taunt also, eliciting a chant of ‘Breeze is gorgeous’, but Rose catches Breeze in an atomic drop, before landing some chops and a series of shoulder tackles as he gains control of the match.  He hits a body slam, a big clothesline in the corner, but as he runs into the ropes he is caught with a Beauty Shot out of nowhere and Prince Pretty gains the victory.

Winner: Tyler Breeze.

The Rosebuds refuse to let Breeze leave however, as they dance to his theme music, causing him to prod at them with his selfie stick before running through Rose’s cohort. We then see a hype video for the main event between Charlotte and Sasha Banks for the NXT Women’s title, before an interview backstage with Enzo Amore, Big Cass and Carmella. They respond to Murphy and Blake’s taunting and proposition to Carmella last week, and declare that once they become the number 1 contenders for the tag titles, the champs are in their sights.

We return from a break to an interview with the returning Alexa Bliss, who talks about tonight’s women’s title match, saying that champion or not, Bliss will be gunning for Banks, as someone needs to show her who’s boss, before Murphy and Blake make their way to the ring.

Buddy Murphy and Wesley Blake vs. Angelo Dawkins and Sawyer Fulton

Fulton starts us off with a gut wrench suplex to Blake, followed by a fireman’s carry, showing some amateur wrestling prowess, but Blake is able to get the tag to Murphy as the pair hit a double shoulder tackle followed by a near fall to gain control. Fulton is able to reverse a headlock and land a big right, finally getting the hot tag to Dawkins, who hits a clothesline on Murphy, but is then distracted by Blake, allowing Murphy to score a big dropkick, then a suplex, before tagging in Blake to hit a huge frog slash for the pin fall victory.

Winners: Blake and Murphy.

Backstage we see Bayley chatting amiably with Charlotte, wishing her luck which Charlotte pays little heed to, before Emma enters and rather makes fun of Bayley’s nice side, and how it has halted her progression. We return from a Wrestlemania advert to a video package for the return of Rhyno, before Baron Corbin’s music hits.

Baron Corbin vs. Tony Briggs

The fans begin to count as the bell hits, the men tie up, but as they exchange some verbals across the ring, we see Kevin Owens standing menacingly behind Alex Riley at the announce table. Back in the ring, Corbin hits a huge right hand followed by End of Days for a quick victory.

Winner: Baron Corbin

We see Riley and Owens continuing to stare each other down in silence, before Owens grabs Riley’s water bottle, and pours water on the head on the announcer prompting an aggressive reaction, however no punches are thrown as Owens heads silently to the back. We cut to a video package of Sami Zayn addressing the NXT universe from back in Montreal, talking about the recent Abu Dhabi trip and the rapidly changing landscape of NXT in his short absence. He apologises that he can’t be in Full Sail, and claims that for the first time in his 13 year career he is not mentally prepared to be back, and that is why he’s currently at home; to gain perspective. He says that home in Montreal is where the saga of he and Owens started, and that he will soon watch the footage back of their match at Takeover, so he can put into words what he will do to Kevin Owens when he returns to NXT.

We then see CJ Parker talking to GM Regal when Alex Riley storms in and quits as a commentator, as he wants Kevin Owens in a match immediately, but Regal says he will have to wait until he deems Riley fit to face Owens. Parker laughs and claims the only person to ever hurt Kevin Owens was Parker himself, and that Riley is delusional, prompting Riley to say that his return to the ring will start with Parker. Back in the ring, Bull Dempsey makes his entrance.

Bull Dempsey vs. Solomon Crowe

Crowe enters after Dempsey, prompting the screen and LED displays in the arena glitch, and as the bell hits the pair immediately exchange blows, before some kicks and stomps give Dempsey control, and after a stiff headbutt and some forearms, he reverses a scoop slam attempt from Crowe into a splash for a near fall. He continues hitting forearms and kicks, before settling into a reverse chin lock, but Crowe battles out and this time is successful with his body slam, though as he tries to capitalise he is hit with a clothesline by Dempsey, who ascends the turnbuckle looking for his flying headbutt finisher, but Crowe rolls out of the way. Crowe rallies and hits a running knee into the corner, letting out a huge roar, before a forearm smash set him up for his finisher splash off the ropes and he gets the three count.

Winner: Solomon Crowe

Charlotte’s music hits, which tells us it is time for our main event…

Charlotte vs. Sasha Banks (NXT Women’s Championship match)

The champion, Banks, is second out to the ring, and after both competitors are announced, the bell is rung. The crowd are divided in their support, and Charlotte starts after Banks, which Banks ducks prompting to Charlotte to ask if she is going to fight or not? Charlotte hits a series of chops, but as she Irish whips Banks into the ropes, the champion retreats the outside and attempts to leave with her title and take the count-out loss, but the challenger picks up Banks and drives her into the ring apron, before throwing her back in the ring and gaining a near fall. Chrlotte continues to dominate at a high intensity and locks a figure four leg lock, however Banks is able to get to the ropes, and again retreats to the outside. We see an ad for the next NXT Takeover over March 25th hyping the title match between Balor and Owens.

We return from the break to see Banks having seized control, hitting an incredible spin through to a crossface submission, which she rolls into a crucifix pin for a near fall. From there though, Charlotte is somehow able to roll through and lift the champion, and falls backwards with Banks landing underneath her to regain her momentum. Charlotte ascends to the top turnbuckle, attempts a moonsault but lands on her feet as Banks rolls away, but receives Banks’ knees in her back as she attempts a senton. Some stomps from Banks allow her to regain control, and she targets Charlotte’s back, before imitating her with a ‘woo’ to the crowd. She drapes Charlotte across the ropes either side of the turnbuckle and drives her knees into the challenger’s back, before pulling her across the turnbuckle like a torture rack from the outside.

Back in the ring, Banks gains a near fall, before driving her knees into Charlotte’s back once again in a stretch submission hold, and she continues to drive her feet and knees into Charlotte’s back. The challenger is eventually able to fight out however, and almost steals the victory with a rollup, before Banks hits a dropkick to once again force Charlotte to the mat. She hits another backbreaker with her knees driven into the spine of Charlotte, before rolling through into the Bank Statement, wrenching backwards before Charlotte is eventually able to reach the bottom rope. Charlotte buys herself some time though, dodging Banks and dumping her to the outside of the ring, and as Banks returns the pair exchange right hands, before a neckbreaker and a huge spear from Charlotte gain her a near fall. Banks lands on her feet from an attempted suplex, and faceplants Charlotte for a near fall, though the challenger is able to regain control by driving an elbow into the back of Banks’ knee, and follows that with a brutal figure four leg lock applied around the ring post, which she breaks before being disqualified.

The fans rightly chant ‘this is wrestling’, as Charlotte misses with an attempted Natural Selection from the top rope, allowing Banks to attempt a pinfall, and with the assistance of her feet on the top rope, is able to score the victory. A fantastic main event.

Winner: Sasha Banks
