WWE Royal Rumble 2014 Countdown: What If CM Punk Won?

We’re counting down to the Royal Rumble: a variation of the traditional Battle Royal match, with a total of 30 competitors. Two WWE Superstars start in the ring, every 90 seconds thereafter another Superstar enters. A Superstar is eliminated when they’re thrown over the top rope and both feet touch the floor. The last remaining Superstar is guaranteed a championship opportunity at WrestleMania versus the current WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

WWE Superstar: CM Punk
Height: 6′ 2”
Weight: 218 lbs.
From: Chicago, IL
Championships Reigns: WWE Champion (x2), World Heavyweight Champion (x3), ECW Champion, Intercontinental Champion, World Tag Tam Champion

Stack the deck as high as possibly allowable, CM Punk will find his way to cutting it. The newest tower against him: Being named the #1 entrant in the Royal Rumble match. In its 25 year history only 2 Superstars have gone on to win after entering the match #1 – WWE Hall of Famers Shawn Michaels and tragic late legend Chris Benoit. The odds heavily oppose the “Second City Saint”surviving the over-the-top-rope chaos.

Let’s not forget Punk reigned as WWE Champion for a record setting 434 days. Such a streak requires endurance, which is exactly what anyone will need to win the Rumble. If CM Punk is truly “The Best in the World” as he and his legion of faithful fans proclaim, him winning the Royal Rumble would likely sway non-believers and detractors alike. Punk’s chances of claiming the WWE World Heavyweight Championship are arguably pretty darn high.
