Matt Hardy Weighs In On Lawsuit Against Jon Moxley & AEW

TNA star Matt Hardy has shared his thoughts on the recent lawsuit filed against Jon Moxley and AEW by a production crew member who was pushed during a 2023 match. Speaking on the Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, Hardy offered a veteranโ€™s perspective on working with non-wrestlers in physical angles and laid out clear personal boundaries for such situations.

โ€œYou donโ€™t do anything with a civilianโ€”someone who is an untrained performerโ€”unless they absolutely know what theyโ€™re going to do and they are prepared for it,โ€ Hardy explained. โ€œYou canโ€™t take that risk in this day and age, in 2025, right? Even though that was 2023, you just canโ€™t do it.โ€

The lawsuit stems from an incident in 2023 when Moxley, during a match, allegedly shoved production staffer Chris Dispenza as part of the angle. Dispenza has since filed a legal complaint citing injury and lack of consent.

Hardy, who says he has worked with both Moxley and Dispenza in the past, emphasized the importance of ensuring non-wrestlers are fully aware and trained for any physical involvement.

โ€œTheyโ€™re not trained. Theyโ€™re not ready to break falls. Theyโ€™re not ready to be shovedโ€ฆ You just canโ€™t do that.โ€

Despite the controversy, Hardy expressed respect for both parties and hopes the issue can be resolved amicably.

โ€œI have a lot of respect for both guys, and I just hope cooler heads can prevail and they can work through it.โ€
