AEW star Harley Cameron is recovering from a serious injury sustained during a recent episode of Dynamite, and veteran announcer Tony Schiavone has now provided an update on her condition.
Speaking on the What Happened When podcast, Schiavone revealed that Cameron suffered a broken nose and has undergone multiple procedures to repair the damage. The injury occurred during the May 28th edition of AEW Dynamite, where Megan Bayne dropped Cameron face-first onto the steel steps in a violent spot during a No Disqualification tag team match.
โShe sent me a picture, andโฆ sheโs had a lot of work done,โ Schiavone said. โHer face was all swollen.โ He noted the injury was โsignificantโ and praised Cameronโs toughness and resolve throughout her recovery.
Cameron has also addressed the injury on social media, where she shared a post-surgery image that highlights the extent of the damage (note: graphic content).
Despite the setback, Schiavone was full of praise for the rising AEW star. โIโve stayed in touch with her, becauseโฆ she is just a wonderful young lady, truly one of my favorites,โ he added. โSheโs multi-talented. Sheโs got a great attitude. Thereโs a lot to like about Harley, and I hope she gets back very, very soon.โ
Schiavone also commented on the physicality of womenโs wrestling in todayโs era. โIโm telling you, womenโs wrestling can be really rough,โ he said, pointing to the evolving intensity and danger of the style.
As of now, there is no official timeline for Cameronโs return to AEW programming. In her absence, Anna Jayโher former tag team partnerโhas reunited with Tay Melo.
